This is great dude. I have custom built headlights and blinker/fog lights, all LEDs. When I did this it turned my blinkers/fogs into my DRL's. Looks awesome!!!
It worked at first. Now they come in when i first start it. In a few minutes they do go off though. Everything works as it should otherwise. Thanks. Saves the battery and light bulbs.
Just found this video after a lot of searching the ol' interwebs. This method worked on my 1998 Blazer and already have the resistor mod to disable the automatic headlights.
I have a 96 model s10. I'd like to buy after market led headlamps for it but I would have to do some wiring to make the DRL option work. I don't know how to wire things up.
Sorry for the cut off on my comment earlier!!!!!! Like I was saying brother you are a Genius I see so Manny videos out there but none of them come close to yours!!!!!!!
Did your low beams come on by them selves with out the high beams? I like the fact they both low beams and high beams come on when you click your high beams on, but do the lows stay on without the high beams on?
How do you disable the automatic headlights from coming on? I know if tou have the parking brake on the dont turn off. How can tou disable the auto headlights and tail lights from coming on?
on the passenger side dash speaker cover there is an ambient light sensor. Its the little nub on the speaker cover. remove that cover, disconnect the light sensor and install a resistor between the 2 pins on the connector. leave the ambient light sensor disconnected. On my 2002 I used a 1/4watt 1.8K Ohm resistor, I think 98-99 requires a different resistance.
I followed your instructions more than 3 years ago in order to disable DRL and it was perfect. Also disable the AHL inserting the resistor on passenger speaker. Everything perfect, recently I decided to place the high and low lights at the same time, for this I made ground with the yellow wire of the low lights on the driver's side and to my surprise the DRL mechanism was activated again, when disconnecting the grounding the DRL returned to deactivate, any suggestions?
ok but i have a 02 chevy blazer ls and i did have drl and high beams for a while but i didnt know that i only had one high beam and now i have no drl... i change the bulbs for the high beams.. nothing happens and the drl arent even coming on.. and i replaced the fuse and still nothing... i check the wire for the high beam and theres power going into the wire but i put a new bulb in didnt light up... explain that??
Ya see...When you unplug the sensor on the right side of the dash and put a 2.2 k ohm resistor in. They also stay off at night until you turn the headlight switch on.
This didn't work on my 1998 2.2 S10.. Nothing changed at all Even bought a new fuse because the 1st wasn't marked that good to see the numbers good = NOTHING..... :(
I did this mod, but now my high beam indicator light on the dash doesn't work. It could have burned out, but I swear it worked fine before this mod. Weird...
I have aftermarket led in my Sonoma but when I put the truck in drive my day time running lights don't work and when I urn on my brights my driving lights turn off any help please?..
If the Sonoma is like the S10 the driving light is the high beam at 50% power. I don't think the led bulbs will function at 50% power you need a standard bulb. I got mine from Amazon for 10 bucks. Bright white with a blue tint compared to Sylvania bulbs for 50-60 bucks.
@@stoneyswolf I got mine off ebay for 20 for all 4 and I had to flip the plug so it doesn't lock into place so I didn't know if that was my reason.. I have a relay coming that is a 3 prong for the hyper flash fix but I'm not sure what relay it replaces
Didn’t work on my 98 gmc jimmy which it should have because same style need help with mine cause I hunt an want to pull in the field with no lights on at all
Hi. Thanks for the video, in my 2000 Blazer pressing the button 4 times didn’t work. This did. :) Do you have a video on how to switch off the Auto Headlights? I have looked on TH-cam and can’t find anything that can help me. Thanks again.
I saw a video for a Silverado and the guy put 100 ohm resistors I'm place of sensors. I tried it on my 2000 Blazer and it works. So now I can use the knob to turn on and off the lights.
that shit didnt work. on my 02. maybe like somebody said mine is not considered second generation. i still have to push the button like 4 times after starting the engine.
Bro this shit is pissing me off I tried everything removing the DRL Relay, pushing the dome override multiple times, and even replaced the sensor still nothing fucking works
Anybody see that round button near the headlight switch? push that 4 times real fast and it does the same thing, duh, you will even get an alarm when the lights shut off. That prong on the relay is usually there for a reason.
This doesn't work on 4cyl trucks made in Canada. I want an easier way to get it done without having to think about pushing the button 4 times EVERY time I get in the truck. It shouldn't be there in the 1st place! There is no law requiring DRL's anywhere. Defeating it so that the headlight switch works as designed is the end goal. Before the defeat there was no reason AT ALL to even touch the headlight switch. So why is it there in the 1st place???
Can someone please tell me where the damn fuse to the inside lights are I don't care about the outside lights they aren't the problem my map lights won't shit off I've gone through for a week now and it's really getting to me this isn't how I dreamt having my first truck would be like
I have a 2000 chevy s10. Reading the comments below Someone says to push the dome light over ride button four times to make the lights not come on. bingo he was right. Thanks...
This didn’t work on my 98 S10. I even pulled the fuse, and my DRL stay on. the only thing that happens is my one high beam doesn’t work, but the DRL’s stay on! Anyone have another option? Please help! I just want to run my parking lights so I look cooooooool 😎. Thanks I’m advance
That only works on trucks made in 2002 and up. It resets when you turn the ignition off as well, so you would have to do that every time the lights were not necessary. Bending the prong on the RELAY (NOT FUSE) defaults the system to just being manual lights.
thats kind of a dumb comment, its important to have on your lights while its raining or foggy. It can save your life as well as alert oncoming drivers of your presence. Remember that these conditions affect visibility. #commonsense
You are calling this a "fuse" mod. This is a RELAY mod. On my 98 4cyl truck it was easy. Remove the DRL fuse, remove the DRL diode (shunt, black "fuse" with an arrow pointing at a line) from the fuse box, and put a resistor in the automatic headlight sensor in the speaker grille. And BOOM Bob's your Auntie. My 99 4.3 v6 truck is a different animal. I will try this mod to the RELAY. I have several of them so if it doesn't produce good results, I don't have to go buy a new one.
Did not work on my 2002 but maybe that is not considered a second generation. The only thing that changed even with the relay out or 85 bent or 86 bent was left inner high beam wouldn't work with the relay out. I'll find another way unless you know of another simple way. Tried engine running or not too. I sure like my street rods better than these new offbreed vehicles. Thanks anyway.
@Shane Brier. Tried that years ago. Didn't work. Got rid of that truck. Couldn't get the air conditioner to drain condensation out where it should. Normal vehicles have an obvious drain hose. That one didn't so I couldn't blow back through the hose to open the drain. Don't want that junk pickup in my garage. I like the way S-10 trucks look but I don't intend to remove a heater assembly to fix an idiot design.
Bending terminals on a relay is a dumb idea. The proper way to accomplish the same thing would be to remove the relay, make a short jumper wire with the same terminals and run it between the 30 and 87a terminals in the fuse block.
on a 2003 Chevy blazer 4.3, this does not work. try again buddy. even removing the relay completely does not solve the issue. Only ushing the button 4 times does.
Why would anyone want to drive with the daytime driving lights off. They help other drivers see you in the daytime as which is why many cars have them. The daytime driving lights on the Chevy S-10 and GMC S-15 while on are powered with less than 12volts, but when the high beams are on they are powered with 12volts which is why they are not as bright as when the high beams are on considering they both use the same filament bulb.
So you say your dome override three times doesn’t do that for you? I’ve heard a lot of people try telling me theirs doesn’t do it. I haven’t found one that hasn’t including the same people that told me they couldn’t do it with their truck 🤣 and the guy up there talking about how his parking lights and blinkers stay on.
