In my opinion, the first reference of the 6 hikers resemble the Khamar-Daban incident more than the Dyatlov Pass incident. In the Khamar-Daban incident, the hikers involved were 'poisoned' by unknown substances and were all losing their minds, some of the hikers even smashed their heads onto rocks until they died. I think this is more representative of the Survivor's stand ability than the Dyatlov Pass incident.

I have no idea if you've talked about this before, I've only had this video recommended to me, but the Secret Saturdays was a great cartoon network show about cryptids. As a kid interested in that sort of thing, it was the perfect show to watch, and recently I decided to go back and rewatch it and I found it still holds up pretty well. I call it the perfect show to watch while eating; simple enough you don't need to give it complete focus, but well written enough you'll be looking forward to the next episode.

@joezar33 the used properly part is important. Dio's first answer was that every stand was strengths and weaknesses, and survivor is the worst in a 1v1 fight. It can only work in wet environment, it doesn't actually give its user any abilities to protect against the now enraged opponent.
Im going to mention a little detail i notes while watching part 4 of jojo. The settings of part four was in the small peaceful town called Morio in the 1999. Around the same time a famous serial killer was arrested in America I don't remember his name but he is the same killer that inspired (jekso) the main villein of the famous horror films series (SAW). The American serial killer was especially targeting women just like kira in part four of jojo.
Another thing that araki predict 9/11 in part 3 of jojo through featuring a panel of laughing airplane heading toward two towers one of them being burnt.
