Bill! Thank you so much for that shout out. I really love this channel, and the voyage of discovery that you are leading us all on. This song always blows me away, and takes us on such a majestic journey. Everyone shines, but especially Tuomas, Emppu and, of course, the ever magnificent Floor. It is so uplifting and positive, thanks to Tuomas's marvelous poetry.
Thank you so much! I'm enjoying this voyage of discovery with you and with the many artists fans and followers that hang out with me. I absolutely love to see people checking out all of the artists I cover despite different genres and styles. To step out of comfort zones and be adventurous! To me, that's the reward. This song is a love letter to the beautiful planet we call our home. I can't tell you how profound and poignant that is to me. A Nightwish classic that is now on the top of my Nightwish list!
I am relatively new to Nightwhish , being a diehard fan of Hawkwind. But the genius of Nightwhish and the magic their music conjures up leaves me breathless and moved to my core. Thank you for your channel, your constructive comments and your genuine commentary. Kind regards Mick.
Thank you, Mick! Nightwish is a great band with a long and wonderful history. As a Hawkwind fan I know you'll fall in love with them as I have. Peace, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘
Totally agree!! Floor is so special! Enjoyed this!
Besides being an incredible singer, she's an incredible person, too. Thank you, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘
A very young Tuomas wrote this song and it was released as the first song on the Oceanborn album in 1998. The lyrics are showing that he was at that age already interested in the universe, earth, evolution and mankind. And that was probably the reason it was added to the setlist of this tour: the subject fits the last 2 albums of the band: the universe, earth, evolution and us.
Tragedienne of heavens is the earth (as it is full of tragedies, evolution being the biggest non stop tragedy)
Watching the eyes of the night (the stars)
Sailing the virgin oceans (earth sailing through empty space)
A Planetride for Mother and Child (earth and moon)
the star born: the planets
Tuomas knows something about the history of astronomy: "Following the pages of Almagest"
(Wikipedia :-) The Almagest is a 2nd-century Greek-language mathematical and astronomical treatise on the apparent motions of the stars and planetary paths, written by Claudius Ptolemy (c. AD 100 - c. 170). One of the most influential scientific texts in history.
There is a version of this song with the original bass player Sami playing on stage while Marko is descending and watching/smoking in the audience to see how it is up there. Floor early pregnant with Freya, her singing (although there is less sound quality) spot on.
NIGHTWISH Stargazers (feat. Sami Vänskä) Live at Himos Park 2016.
Thank you, my friend! It's good to know when I get the meaning right. A beautiful love letter to the Earth! Great song! 🤘❤️🤘
I'd like to shout out Marko's powerful, driving bass. The stage must have been vibrating all around him. Enjoyed your reaction very much.
Yes! Marko's sound is extraordinary! All very well mixed, though. Perfection! Thank you, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘
nice, thank you
🤩👍💥💯🎼
This one from their endlessly tasty "Oldies ´n´ Goldies" is melodic, ´Power Metal - ish´ track with high soprano vocals which becomes alive in a different way with this line - up, and especially that time of their musical journey:
NIcely done män...And don´t Ya forget to keep on rockin´ with this magical band.
Summery greets from Finland.
🤘😎💙🎶
Kiitos ystava! Love those 'oldie but goodies' To me it's all brand new 😁
I have a lot more exploring to do with this band so there will be much more to come. Nightwish is a pillar of my show and I consider myself a proud member of the Nightwish Army (NY Division) 🤘❤️🤘

Somehow I realized after few reactions you did on these hairy ´MoFos´ that they´re able to climb up on your playlist(s) quite rapidly.
And yes, I think that this orchestra has given you the opportunity to get to know wonderful people from around the world, to affect personal feelings on many levels, and especially to offer many delicious experiences with their live performances.
...Truly, with their music, they have brought pleasant ´content´ to your life, just like the lives of countless others, which as a Finn I can be even a little bit proud of.
Bill you have one fault, you are too nice I love your reactions, your genuine interest and your observations, see you for the next one🇬🇧
🤣I have many faults but at least that one I can live with! See ya on the next one, my friend! Thank you! 🤘❤️🤘
Beautiful song they are all killing it 🤘🤘 I’m so happy, I can hear Marko ‘s bass, and it’s just fantastic 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥
Thank you, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘
❤❤❤
🤘❤️❤️🤘
The intelligence of this music, of these lyrics is utterly incredible, and written by someone for whom English is a second language - extraordinary! Wonderful reaction as always Bill, you pay such respect to the art and the artist it's always a joy to watch your reactions 🤘
Here in FIN we speak;
#1 Finnish (our `Mother´s Tongue´)
#2 Swedish (official second lang.)
#3 English (third lang. unofficially)
...But(t) in practic majority of Finns speaks way better english than swedish...Swedish speakers mostly live in four separate regions, which are Uusimaa, the coast of Ostrobothnia, Åland and the Turku archipelago. Bilingual parts in western and southern coastal areas of the Baltic Sea.
Cheers from Northern Savonia, Finland.
🤘😎💙🎶💯💥
Thank you very much, buddy! I really appreciate that. I always try to respect the artist, their art and the fans that love them. It's a lot easier when you love them too. 🤘❤️🤘
@jaskau2462 then I say to you:
Kiitos ystava!!!
tack min van!!!
Thank you, my friend!!!

Little Emppu comment for you Uncle Bill:
"Tuomas gives me a rough demo and it's my task to arrange his keyboard riffs for guitar. Sometimes the ideas work as they are, sometimes it takes a bit of fiddling to make them work. Every once in a while this method results in something that's pretty unique.
The solo in "Shudder" was a nice surprise and something I had great fun doing in the studio. It's also fun live. I'm always ecxcited about parts where there's room for improvisation - "Stargazers" for example, is a great live song that enables you to really shred."
Thank you for the inside scoop, my brother! I like hearing about the process involved and the thinking that goes into composition. Little Emppu!!! 😁Actually, the former lead guitarist from Anthrax, Dan Spitz is 5'1" and even the legendary Angus Young is 5'2" which, in their company makes him Big Emppu!!! 🤣
@@BemusingBill Just about! Emppu is 5'3".
Here's some more info from the early days:
In Kuopio Emppu met Tuomas when Nattvindens played the Domino Club. He filled in for a guitarist who didn’t turn up. He was 16 at the time. The band gave him their album the night before and said “learn the songs” and he went on stage the next night.
When Tuomas decided to form his own project, Emppu was the first he called. He accepted immediately. Because……
one of his mottos is “If you get picky, life gets tricky”
As a result he has played in many bands.
Tuomas regards Emppu as not just a guitarist but a social stimulant. You see this on stage. Tuomas says “He’s a funny guy. He can’t stay in one spot for long, he has the shortest attention span ever. If you teach him a riff he forgets it in five minutes however often you go through it.”
“He probably wouldn’t be able to play our songs if we didn’t go through them 200 times.”
“You get the feeling from Emppu that he doesn’t know how to be in a bad mood. But I get the feeling he never forgets anything, even the smallest things bother him for ages.”
A few months ago Floor was asked about the soundtracks of her life and was asked "who is your guitar hero?". Here is her response:
"I play in a band with him: that’s Emppu [Vuorinen, Nightwish guitarist]. He is an amazing guitar player, but he doesn’t need to fill every gap in the song with meaningless notes. He really keeps the atmosphere [of the songs]. What he plays in Sleeping Sun is beautiful."
They brought back several older songs for this "Decades" tour, and this one was certainly a great choice! Emppu has called this one of his favorites, because it allows room for him to improvise. Great performance by everyone, including the production crew! 🤘🌠🤘
Wasn´t this from the "Endless Forms Most Beautiful - World Tour" ???(as Floor said in her ´Intro´ for the song)...Not from the "Decades - Tour"(couple of years later on)
@@jaskau2462 That's true, I stand corrected.

No worries...We´re just humans and mistakes are significant part of our journey...(Wherever we may roam)
Brought that up so it´ll be ´straightened - up´ at some point, just for the sake not to plant any ´misinfo´ into the minds of "newbies" to this orchestra...
Cheers from Northern Savonia, Finland.
Thank you, my friend! I can see why this would be one of his favorites! Mine too! 🤘❤️🤘
Magnificent!!! Floorgasms - me, too! Her beautiful operatic voice makes this one of my most favorite songs by them. I think this live version blows away all studio versions. A test of a vocalist's true abilities comes at live performances like this. I didn't hear one sharp or flat note, her vibrato is perfectly controlled and her tonality is crystal clear. Thank you for this reaction!
True, Mossy: she was absolutely perfect! A band lives in two worlds: In the Studio and Live on Stage. Some bands are strong in one area and others strong in both. Sometimes studio work can be so good that it's hard to reproduce live. Especially before Loop Stations when a single guitar band will have a guitar solo and there is still rhythm guitar track behind it. Live, it's only the solo so the sound 'drops' out. Sometimes the singer doesn't have the power in a live setting as compared. One thing is for certain, playing live a band (like NW) gets energized by the crowd and they just shine! Thank you, my friend!
Nightwish army central Connecticut battalion reporting. Excellent reaction. I love when you do the lyrical deep dives. Keep up the good work.... ( P.s. I don't know how Gaye has the Marko army organized, but I'm definitely in that too ) :)
Thank you, my neighbor to the east! ✔️NWA Central CT. Batt. active. This was a beautiful love letter to the Earth! Perfect in every way. 🤘❤️🤘
Stargazers hadn't been played since before the split with Tarja in 2005. It was one of the songs that got put away when Anette joined, as operatic vocals aren't her forte, her's is more of a pop/rock style. It was brought back not only because Floor can sing the style, but it also fit in with the themes of the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album, which are of science and reason. Yep, 3rd vagrant is referring to the earth. Song is the first track on the 2nd album, Oceanborn.
Erno Matti Juhani Vuorinen is Emppu's full name, Sami Vanska is the first bassist('98-'01).
Just looked and I don't see that you have heard Anette yet. Suggest the music video for "Amaranth" to start with her.
Thanks, buddy! You're correct- no Anette, yet! I feel I'm missing a piece of Nightwish history without her. I appreciate the recommendation and I'll make that one my first with a big shout out your way. 🤘
@@BemusingBill Thanks Bill. I'm not in it for the shoutout, it's all about hearing good music that you haven't experienced before.
Great reaction! Your "Tampere" is perfect 😊 and if sometimes it's not, no worries, we do not care. Our language is so strange...
Greetings from Tampere, Finland. (Damn it's hot here today)
Kiitos ystava! I appreciate that! I got raked over the coals for my horrible German when I first reacted to Rammstein, so I make it my business to get it right as with other languages. Greetings from NY (it's damn hot here, too! Hotter than down in Florida!!!!!) 🤘❤️🤘
Here in New York we've been in a heat wave for about two weeks. Hard to work outside 🙄
I've been the "biggest Nightwish fan in the world" (yes, I know everybody says that, LOL) for 20 years now, and I never really figured out what these lyrics meant despite intently deciphering countless other of Tuomas' genius poems. I thought it was a science fiction-related theme or maybe Lord of the Rings type poetry. So I can now say I was "today years-old" when I discovered that you are 100% correct about the meaning... and it should have been so obvious to me! It is now more beautiful than I ever imagined prior to today! Thank you for your service to the Nightwish Army, Florida Panhandle Division!!
NWA Florida PH Div. ✔️🫡
I'm so glad I could help! I think I'm getting better at deciphering the meaning in the lyrics now that I'm doing it more. There are songs I've been listening to for over 40 years and had no idea the meanings until recently!!
Always here to support Nightwish and the NWA! 🤘❤️🤘
@@BemusingBill You're one of the best of the best!
Great reaction. One of my top favourites from NW for sure.
Nice reaction

A really great reaction.....well done....
Keep on rocking Bill 🤘🤘🤘

Danke freund! ✔️NWA S. Germany. Greetings from NY 🤘❤️🤘
This is from 1998, back then Emppu was more involved when it comes to "show off" with guitar, time passed and he doesn't feel the need to do that anymore. So that's why early Nightwish is more guitar oriented than now.
Tämä keikka siis 2015..

That was great Bill. The writing credits are to the whole band at the time. Erno is Emppu's given name and Sami Vänskä is the original bassist that Marko replaced.
Thank you for the info! I didn't know the name of the bassist before Marko. 🤘❤️🤘
