My wife and I are planning a trip to this area next year or so. What is the best time of year to visit? Best water flow, least amount of people? We are morning people. Like EARLY morning people. So, getting there at crack of my ass dawn isn't an issue. Thanks for your continued service! I know that the gorges here in NY you have to be there just before sunrise to avoid the hordes of walking dead.
@@Theexplorographer well those are three separate answers really. I’ll start with best water flow: spring. Late winter/early spring is when waterfalls are at their highest. Usually up through May or June the levels will be at their peak. However, spring doesn’t always give great weather. Most of the videos where I’m running through the fog are spring videos. So the later in the season, the better. But it’s the Pacific Northwest, so basically flip a coin, because who knows what the weather is going to do hour from hour. It’s pretty stable in June and July, but by then the waterfalls are waning and the crowds are bigger. As far as crowds go: don’t come in summer. Everyone is out. And around here snow doesn’t thaw until mid July, so people will be crammed into whatever area isn’t frozen. Also stay away from holiday weeks. Thanksgiving week is a crowded hell. So is Christmas week. If I had to plan, I’d aim for early May. It won’t be perfect, but it might be ok, and at least you’ll get decent waterfalls out of it.
@@Theexplorographer and yeah earlier is better. You saw the parking lot at the start of this video. It wasn’t crowded, but it was around 9 am. I didn’t show it at the end of my hike, but that thing was jammed full when I got back in the afternoon. So if you can do things at the crack of dawn, do it. It’s not a guarantee though, because there are a lot of sunrise hikers up here. But the overall crowd will be much smaller than when I’m out ranting and raving.
Nice video!
I like that muddy sloppy mess of a trail. It’s how I got prepared for Helen’s
lol too many tourists
Those little inclines mentality hurt my ankles 😅
I would probably slip at the site of humanity
Oh I slipped. I was so covered in mud at the end.
