This theme captures the gothic parts of batman, the two movie themes focus on his heroism and the 60's theme focuses on all the drugs the producers were on
@@patsfreak Even better, the reason the musical director wrote them in was because WB execs refused to give the musicians proper credit (so they wouldn't have to pay them royalties). So she found a way to get their names in somehow.
I love how, even though the music becomes uplifting and majestic towards the end, the gritty and dark pictures continue on. Not because its\'s ironic, but because there IS a majesty to Batman's mythos, both in spite of and because of the horror and violence.
This by far is the best batman theme, when ever batman comes up in conversation or anything, the Animated series from the early 90's is the first thing that comes to mind, the REAL badman..
Hell yea, one thing I always loved was how the show was treated with a lot of dignity. It wasn't a campy. cheesey kids show. To be honest, the storyline was very edgy. I mean they had no reason to pay the extra cash for the composer to write such a complex and badass soundtrack. If anything this cartoon is a shining example of how a cartoon should be. People should make effort. I watched ben 10 with my cousin and it was horrible, such a lazy toon.
Sounds like Shirley Walker had watched The Hunt for Red October not long before she wrote the opening theme ;) Absolutely nothing wrong with sounding like Hunt, of course! Outstanding soundtrack. This is really my favorite variation on the '89 theme. What I'd give to hear this melody performed in the style of the origninal by Elfman....
The first minute is EPIC, I mean HOLY CRAPPOLA I had no idea this soundtrack had such epicness!! Does anyone know what language they are singing in during the second half of the first minute??
I love the soundtrack to this movie. My only wish is that at 5:29 - 5:34, they had kept Joker's laugh from that point in the movie. It really added to the feeling of the music in my opinion.
Much better than Zimmers, this is the real batman. Zimmer made the real Nolan batman theme. This fits into the real batman universe, Zimmers fits in Nolans universe 8)
Man i love this but i think each composer has his own style that on his own way and context has fitted very well each encarnation of the character. This is my fav one, tho. By the way listen to TDKR ost samples, they sound EPIC great work by Zimmer
@RHCPfan458 Hey! Yeah, I've read "Joker". It's definitely got amazing artwork and is an interesting take on the Joker character. If you want to see more of Alex Ross' Joker, check out "Justice". He's not in it much, but his part is still great. And also "The Further Adventures of the Joker" which is a collection of prose stories, which I think are some of the best Joker stories ever written. You can find it on amazon or ebay used.
@kungfooligan Hans Zimmer assisted Shirley Walker with the score. He's listed near the end of the credits. You can really tell he influenced the introduction.
@thisismyllamalouie to be a huge batman fan you've probably already read it! I hope you got both parts of these comments cause I'm not sure I did it right, it would look a bit strange to you if this is the only part you got lol.
@thisismyllamalouie Thanks Awesome mix btw, and I remember this chilling movie since I was a kid -thinking of doing remix with newest begins and dark knight (altho tim burtons batman was my fav)
modern comics aren't meant for kids at all. and with them usually having more immorality and cheap action than plot or character depth, they're not really for mature adults either. hence the failing industry. they're cashing in on the movies but comic sales are at an all time low. Not that there isn't occasional genius, and batman is frequently the character to deliver that.
@bonslywizard This is a suite of the music collected on the actual soundtrack, merged together to create a 20 minute song. You can find the extended soundtrack just by going to amazon.com or ebay.com and typing in "Batman: Mask of The Phantasm Extended Soundtrack".
traditional is someone putting a lot of time into drawing and creating something (i.e. it takes like 6-8 months to do a Simpsons episode for just one team of animators) CGI is someone sitting at a computer for 2 hours while checking his email and facebook
@kungfooligan When a cartoon brings in a whole choir to sing it's gothic theme song in what sounds like latin, you know that's a freaking badass kid's show!
@thisismyllamalouie Lol i just checked my inbox and you happened to have replied less than 1 minute ago lol. Thanks for the quick reply, I'm a little disappointed with that answer cause I was hopin to read a comic with this joker in it! ha. I'm reading "Joker" 2008 by Brian Azzarello ATM and the joker in it is pretty much based on Heath Ledgers look IMO, I'm halfway through and its pretty sweet tbh, one look at the cover art and you'll want it in your hands......but seeing as how you seem....
@speedsurfer123 I just entered a dispute, letting them know that I didn't intend any copyright infringement or gain of profit from the video and they let it back up.
Anyone able to tell me which graphic novel the first image of the joker at 0:10 is from? I recognize it but can't remember. Thanks for this btw I love this soundtrack, takes me back
@thisismyllamalouie Though I do like to have the comic in my hand I usually just download comics in CBR format, they're easy to read and usually great quality, saves ALOT of money if you buy alot of comics, you should try it unless you really really want to have the comic in your collection or whatever.(highly illegal though! (lol) I'll try get The Further Adventures of the Joker if I can, thanks for the recommendation
I bet your parents taught you that you mean something, that you're here for a reason. My parents taught me a different lesson, dying in the gutter for no reason at all... They taught me the world only makes sense if you force it to
@thisismyllamalouie Is it a reprint of the late '80s anthology? Than I suggest Robert McCammon's "On a Beautiful Summer's Day, He Was," a very disturbing story of the Joker's childhood.
I know Danny Elfman is a magnificent Batman composer, but this just IS The Dark Knight. RIP Shirley Walker, you were amazing.
RIP Kevin Conroy, he was the best Batman ever, without a doubt
This theme captures the gothic parts of batman, the two movie themes focus on his heroism and the 60's theme focuses on all the drugs the producers were on
The 60’s show was fun! But there were a lot of weird episodes (Surfing Batman & Joker anyone?) BTAS is still the best though!
This version of Batman is still the best in my mind.
For those wondering what the choir is singing, they're saying the names of the movie's production team members backwards to make it sound like latin.
Back when trolling was an artform.
@@patsfreak Even better, the reason the musical director wrote them in was because WB execs refused to give the musicians proper credit (so they wouldn't have to pay them royalties). So she found a way to get their names in somehow.

Not because its\'s ironic, but because there IS a majesty to Batman's mythos, both in spite of and because of the horror and violence.
Beautiful music! Very majestic, with a deep sense of awe and wonder.
This by far is the best batman theme, when ever batman comes up in conversation or anything, the Animated series from the early 90's is the first thing that comes to mind, the REAL badman..
0:25
at this point
I become teary eyed,
very haunting and yet so beautiful
Wow....
She was a genius...
Unbelievable music
I daresay, I think just the music alone is what makes this movie so great. You really feel the deep emotions behind the score.
Hell yea, one thing I always loved was how the show was treated with a lot of dignity. It wasn't a campy. cheesey kids show. To be honest, the storyline was very edgy. That opening gives me chills everytime I listen to it.
The pictures clearly show that Batman is not only for kids^^
Thats why i really really like Batman and those "serious" pictures^^
Nice Vid dude!
The first minute is EPIC, I mean HOLY CRAPPOLA I had no idea this soundtrack had such epicness!! Does anyone know what language they are singing in during the second half of the first minute??
The music guys back then had more taste in music, I remember humming the song everyday back then
I think return of the dark knight is better.
+phoenix ashes Do you mean The Dark Knight Returns? If so, this one in my opinion is certainly superior
TheGamingCircle That is what i meant and this one is good but for me i like the dark knight returns.
Just.. WOWW! what a melody... never heard something like it in superheroes soundtrack. Thanks!
Every time I see Bats and Joker I hear Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill
I enjoy the new animated stuff that keeps coming out but if it's not Conroy its hard to think its Batman.
Holy shit 1:45 is creepy as hell. Excellent work on this.
I love the soundtrack to this movie. My only wish is that at 5:29 - 5:34, they had kept Joker's laugh from that point in the movie. It really added to the feeling of the music in my opinion.
it is eerie how good Batman and the Joker go together. They are perfect enemies.
From 3:50 to 4:16 is pure gold!! Makes me feel like bungi jumping into hell and returning intact and unscathed.
the first 1:20 define batman in my opinion
Beautiful soundtrack. Captures the inner heart of Batman.
Elfman, Zimmer and this. All three styles are perfect for batman
Music that touches the soul
Much better than Zimmers, this is the real batman. Zimmer made the real Nolan batman theme. This fits into the real batman universe, Zimmers fits in Nolans universe 8)
Great pics and great score!
Oh my god, what a world we would be living in if this was in the newer Batman films. I long for a world like that...
just wonderful
damn that scared the shit out of me 1:40, if you got the volume up, its dark and raining like it is now.
Man i love this but i think each composer has his own style that on his own way and context has fitted very well each encarnation of the character. This is my fav one, tho.
By the way listen to TDKR ost samples, they sound EPIC great work by Zimmer
In my opinion, this suit is the best Batman ost ever in animated series.
This soundtrack is sooooo boss!!!!!
I'm very nearly moved to tears at 8:45 in this video.
Epic. Especially When I'm reading Final Crisis # 6!
It's incredible what Shirley Walker did with Danny Elfman's original idea. Glorious.
whenever i read Batman today this is the music that goess with him, Shirley Walkers music is Batman
@thisismyllamalouie Dude thanks for posting this. One of my favorites! I love all the pics from Hush too!
I wish Shirley Walker was still alive. I'd like to see her score The Dark Knight Rises (nothing against the Zimmer/Howard score for TDK).
@RHCPfan458
Hey! Yeah, I've read "Joker". It's definitely got amazing artwork and is an interesting take on the Joker character. If you want to see more of Alex Ross' Joker, check out "Justice". @Sladexevolution who said batman was for kids?
As far as I know Batman is a comic for adults.
GREATEST MUSIC ever!
wonderful soundtrack
@thisismyllamalouie to be a huge batman fan you've probably already read it!
I hope you got both parts of these comments cause I'm not sure I did it right, it would look a bit strange to you if this is the only part you got lol.
These animated films are the best on-screen portrayal of Batman, imho. Can't wait for "The Killing Joke" movie!
@thisismyllamalouie Thanks
Awesome mix btw, and I remember this chilling movie since I was a kid -thinking of doing remix with newest begins and dark knight (altho tim burtons batman was my fav)
@SlyGuy2895 I beileve it's called Andrea's Revenge. But I'm just going off on memory from the movie.
I like to use this soundtrack for Batman Arkham city custom soundtrack on ps3. It's a epic music
modern comics aren't meant for kids at all. and with them usually having more immorality and cheap action than plot or character depth, they're not really for mature adults either. hence the failing industry. they're cashing in on the movies but comic sales are at an all time low.
Not that there isn't occasional genius, and batman is frequently the character to deliver that.
thumbs up if you're going to see batman live!
@bonslywizard
This is a suite of the music collected on the actual soundtrack, merged together to create a 20 minute song. You can find the extended soundtrack just by going to amazon.com or ebay.com and typing in "Batman: Mask of The Phantasm Extended Soundtrack".
@thecreator770 haha it's the names of the design staff backwards.
Wish I coulda heard this theme in the theater :'(
traditional is someone putting a lot of time into drawing and creating something (i.e. it takes like 6-8 months to do a Simpsons episode for just one team of animators)
CGI is someone sitting at a computer for 2 hours while checking his email and facebook
@Sladexevolution Batman stopped being for kids since TAS :D
@posthuman2988 Wow, really!? That's pretty cool!
@kungfooligan When a cartoon brings in a whole choir to sing it's gothic theme song in what sounds like latin, you know that's a freaking badass kid's show!
@Sladexevolution Thank you! Glad you liked it, and definitely, Batman is more geared towards adults today then anyone.
@thisismyllamalouie Lol i just checked my inbox and you happened to have replied less than 1 minute ago lol. Thanks for the quick reply, I'm a little disappointed with that answer cause I was hopin to read a comic with this joker in it! ha. @Valkilmer89
Not a problem. Glad you enjoyed it!
@RHCPfan458
Hey there. That's the cover for the most recent edition of "The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told", done by Alex Ross.
9:18 is from the "Batman Christmas Special".
Better than Danny Elfman's score, up there with Hans Zimmer's. Yeah, I said it.
imagine a theme like this in the new batman superman movie clashing against superman's theme as they fight, would be amazing!
thank you for posting it and do you know where i can buy this album????
lol actually this is the names of the shows creators backwards, seriously you can hear them say paul dini and bruce timm backwards!
@speedsurfer123
I just entered a dispute, letting them know that I didn't intend any copyright infringement or gain of profit from the video and they let it back up.
geekintosh* i totally agree
Epic..
nice
Sounds a lot better if you put it in 480p!
@Tyris1013
Hey! If you type in "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm Suite" in to google, you should be able to find a download of it somewhere.
Nice - any chance we can download this from anywhere cause I'd like to make batman tribute with phantasm soundtrack
@LuoRuiMing i watched it untill the tape broke (ye i was a batman nerd) :D
Battastic
Rip the one true BATMAN
R.I.P. Kevin Conroy the best Batman Ever no debate
At the part in 5:11 when Joker is licking his lips I can almost hear Caesar Romero saying "Oh ho, ho, ho! Delicious!"
@thisismyllamalouie
Nice
Better than Zimmer's AND Elfman's.
Love this!
Anyone able to tell me which graphic novel the first image of the joker at 0:10 is from? I recognize it but can't remember.
Thanks for this btw I love this soundtrack, takes me back
What's the name of the song that plays from 5:23 to 6:32?
@thisismyllamalouie Though I do like to have the comic in my hand I usually just download comics in CBR format, they're easy to read and usually great quality, saves ALOT of money if you buy alot of comics, you should try it unless you really really want to have the comic in your collection or whatever.(highly illegal though! (lol)
I'll try get The Further Adventures of the Joker if I can, thanks for the recommendation
We need to invent a new word to describe this.....
@LuoRuiMing Tell me about it.! I hail from Brazil and most of the (dumb xD) english I know I've learned by watchin' this movie over and over again. x)
My..god.
@quechus13
You are right,i just wanted to point it out^^
this song is awesome
So powerful
Now this is what I want Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice to sound like.
Drew Arevalo naw itll have the inception bwah sound
I bet your parents taught you that you mean something, that you're here for a reason. My parents taught me a different lesson, dying in the gutter for no reason at all... They taught me the world only makes sense if you force it to
Wrong movie.
@Centuria13
Thank you!
...Is it just me, or does Shirley Walker's work here almost sound John Williams-esque? Not that there's anything WRONG with that. =D
The last one who did'nt love is the Joker :o)
@thisismyllamalouie Is it a reprint of the late '80s anthology? Than I suggest Robert McCammon's "On a Beautiful Summer's Day, He Was," a very disturbing story of the Joker's childhood.
watch CGI shows, then you'll be glad that they're are still shows like ben 10, no matter how shitty they are...
