Somehow, I started making this but ended up with a slanting bonsai instead of a little upright beach tree... so I put it on an upside down geode and called it good enough. I think it's because I saw your comment about the wires being short, so I cut them longer, then ended up spacing the branches out more. I spent a LOT longer trying to glue the roots to the rock than I did making the rest of the tree... think I may need to get superglue next time...

I am so sorry you had such a hard time with that, and yes, I did cut my wires a little short, but even so I don’t really understand how yours turned out slanted because you can always maneuver your tree trunk upright anyway that you want. You can also manipulate the branches as well. If it helps, go onto my wire art tutorial playlist and pick a couple other easier trees and practice that way. Please let me know how you make out and feel free to send me photos to the email address in the description.🤗👍🏻

@@RADCreativeArt Oh - it turned out slanted because I decided it didn't look quite right when upright, and decided to make the 'main trunk' twisty. Then it looked best when I slanted it over, a little like an 'informal upright' bonsai, and I just happened to have a white half geode with a perfect 'base' spot and a jutting lump on the back, which matched the slant I'd given the trunk... I used copper wire and cream-white pearls, so the off-white quartz geode matched it really well. I'm actually quite happy with how it turned out! It's just, the geode has a lot of little grooves that I wanted to wedge the roots into, so it looks like they grew there naturally... which led to me splitting out lots of branching roots, and having no way to hold them in place while they dried except to sit there and hold them with my fingers. I realized after starting that I have no rubber bands. There's nothing wrong with your tutorial! There's just something wrong with my brain. The end result looks great, and when I put a light under the geode the whole rock glows. Then you can turn it over and there's crystals hidden inside. It's not where I was expecting to end up, but the result was very good! Yesterday after posting this I made another, and didn't let myself space the branches out as much. It makes a very cute little upright tree! I blame the first one on too many horticulture lectures ingraining that I should always prune to no more than two branches at a division. I'll send you a couple photos. Basically, it started out the same and ended up somewhere else!
