    This was actually really helpful given that I had zero plumbing experience until today. Like a lot of this kind of stuff, you realize it’s quite simple afterward. Thanks a bundle!

    I can't wait to try this. I had a drain company come in to fix a clog I had that Liquid plumber could not fix(Getting a refund for Liquid plumber), the Mr Drain company fixed the clog but then broke the P-Trap and then claimed it was rusted and now I need a plumber to come in to replace the P-Trap. I priced out the P-Trap metal version 39.99, me doing the labor $0.00 dollars. Sweet! Screw the plumbers and their several hundred dollar charge. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

    This is a handy video, I watched a few and this gives very detailed instructions even down to how to put a beveled washer on. Thanks for posting this video, I just replaced my kitchen sink basket, brass tailpiece and removed all the other brass drain pieces and replaced all the rotten washers with new nylon ones. The job is done and no signs of leaks at all. $15 in parts and a little sweat and one small cut and I saved a bundle for a plumber!

    Thanks, and yes, I had a ball of 'ick' trapped in the pipe post P-Trap. So now in reassembling, thanks for the washer replacement info, very good reminder. Thanks, this did help!

    Thanks for posting this video. It was very helpful. But when you couldn't loosen the nuts the first time by hand, you were actually turning in the direction to tighten lol.

    2019 and this is still helpful. Thank you for making this! My son dropped one toothbrush down there in 2016, and now another one last night, so it's about time daddy deals with the inevitable and gets those suckers out! Haha! thanks for mentioning the hand-tightening. I've had terrible luck with plumbing fixes and have shit-for-brains at brute force! ;(

    What do you recommending for dissolving or softening the glue that holds a metal p-pipe joint in place (in addition to the threads screwing the two ends together)? Thanks.

  • @randallolson7630
    @randallolson7630 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, as you removed the trap, you said, "as long as the water is off, it will stop leaking." The water supply doesn't put water into the trap, it goes to the faucets. The trap just drains water from the sink by gravity.

    Unfortunately, non of these videos actually show and explain the white washer placement. I am attempting to replace only the J- Bend and a white washer came with the part; however, although the J Bend is the same size as the old one, the white washer that came with it doesn't seem to fit which doesn't make sense since.

    Great video, I have a leak in a PVC pipe under the bathroom sink. Water flows out of the lower nut that connects to the P trap. This happened right after I tried to unclog the drain using plastic zip-it that has small teeth like edges. Do you thing I might have damaged the PVC pipe itself? Your response and suggestions will be appreciated. Shahzad

    I have a question. Just got a new sink all put in... having horrible trouble with leaks.. tightened several parts, and replaced a few. Now everything seems to work great except the dreaded leak has come back, only this time its actually between the brass part just under the sink and the metal pipe that screws into it just below that. Can you tell me any way to fix this? Already tried screwing it as tight as it will go, and it has plumbers tape around it. It's just a little bead of a leak, but just enough to ruin things. Please help. (was thinking maybe replace it with a plastic pipe?)

    The tapered ring slides easily over pipe so everything can just slide apart. It seems it should not be this way.

    We keep replacing compression washers and we still get leaks... at the P-trap fitting. And yes, we tighten them down. ;-) Any thoughts?

      +Jamin Mayer Jamain..get some waterproof silicone grease on the threads. If it still leaksm backup he washer wih some waterproof silicone grease, available at most plumbing supplies.,wrap the wicking between the nut and the washer. Wrap as much as you can that will allow you to get the nut started.. Wrap it just like teflon making sure you wrap it the right way. If not, the wickig will come off. Lubricate all male threads with the silicone water proof grease or pipe joint compound. Bttw, the ball lamp wicking is cheap only a couple bucks. That is what up old timers used, (the wicking,) before teflon, and works better. Good luck!

    what do i do if the nut connected to the pipe to the wall ( in the middle) was corroded and just crumbled off? I have the replacement elbow, but I cant get the pipe out of the wall or the nut on the other side where it needs to be. it's very old and I'm scared to use too much force.

      I can help you....I went to Lowe's and found a plastic nut; 2 pieces that goes together like a puzzle piece on the pipe. It was only about $3.00 and ever sooooo easy to do. as long as you have the pipe size. Done in like 30 seconds, no tape, glue or anything. Works like a charm. this is what it is called. just copy and paste in the search bar on lowes.
      Plumb Pak 1-1/4-in Plastic Slip Joint Nut
      Item #: 346417 | Model #: PP9256SPLT
      I hope this helps....I figured this out on my own so I hope I can help someone else.

    • @julz6220
      @julz6220 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      PS. don't paste the whole thing. it wont find it. either do the name or the item #. and if the pipe is a 1/2 just change the number 4.....
