I know this Varaka was a rich and skilled merchant but how big was the length of this for having connections to half of the characters, he only need to introduce to the group of Kenji and Cage the rest appears to know him from his name at least or have some connections to the previous generation.
From where this is going, the Lin Kuei are all given armored suits unless they have elemental and magical abilities. In addition, Sektor is likely increasing the Lin Kuei army with androids.

Bi-han was more of the old ways and loyal, like in a neutral side. But Ed Boon changed that on mk11 making him evil from the start.
Liu Kang changed their circumstances but not who they are, he just tried to set them up to make better choices. Unfortunately Bi-Han's choices have fed into Sektor's darker side and led her down the same path as before.
