From the acronyms I heard this might suggest not being able to run an untrusted OS even in a type 1 hypervisor or in an untrusted type 2 hypervisor. That would lock everything down completely.
TPM should really mean To Protect Microsoft since it's meant to protect Microsoft's monopoly over PCs. Microsoft, AMD and the others should be sued for their obvious monopolistic practices. I seriously hope alternative companies will pop up to take on these corporations.

What I think of Microsoft Pluton is that if it is mandatory in Windows 12 or future updates of Windows 11, it would be giving way to Authoritarianism on the part of Microsoft, it is unlikely that they want to impose on us What to do and what not to do with our PC , is a Nice DRM with Trojan Horse included that will know everything about you. Pluton goes beyond letting you install other OSes on your preferred Platform, it's a remote permissions chip that takes only actions that Microsoft Security Cloud deems "safe." It is thought that Microsoft can know if you are running Pirated Software on your PC and block it, it should not be allowed to use this chip (send samples) when you want to Install Windows, since it violates all the privacy and freedom of the user. It sounds paranoid but that little chip is very dangerous.
You're not understanding, they will have control of what can be installed on that system, and yes right now it does have an on and off switch, what happens when that firmware update comes and it doesn't have that on and off switch anymore, and you're locked in to sticking with Windows and not being able to install what you want on your computer because it doesn't have the proper encryption keys, because you is the consumer don't hold them they're stored on Microsoft servers.
WTF man!👿 And I was really thinking about going for AMD as the hardware choice for my futures computers. Intel, Qualcomm and now AMD?? What else do we have left?!
Microsoft is pure evil. They literally are all showy about they love Linux/opensource and scumbags introduce another backdoor. I wonder what Linus T has to say about this. Things I wish to see more: -Hoping RISC-V would catch up -Coreboot -Older AMD hardware. -More Linux Hardware manufacturers. -Purism Laptops starting to make more sense.
Wow - AMD (open source video drivers) agreed to this sh*t? And none of these are going to help... 1. VIA's Zhaoxin Processor: The Chinese x86 manufacturer (probably ships with embedded back doors ) 2. Elbrus processor - for Russian Gov. 3. SHAKTI processor - India
Personally I 'suspect' there will be some type of 'work around'. The way I see it Intel and AMD will lose out if they don't have a way around it. The Linux community thought that UEFI would take them out, but there was a work around. We'll see. Maybe even the company making the Raspberry Pie processor might step in and step up their game to help us out, who knows. I REALLY don't think it's anything to get too worried about just yet.
Write over whatever partition you put Windows on, once I did, I noticed a difference in performance and memory. Just like when I stopped dual booting, Linux finally got comfortable. And sometimes I'll just keep a live iso on a brand new USB with OS flashed on it and just keep computer on until I notice a slowdown, then reboot back into iso. And do an OEM install if you can. Word of advice, if you buy a laptop and your main purpose is strictly to use Linux, don't even look at Windows go to bios VERY first time you boot up, enable fastboot, disable, or hide tpm, go to security to disable secure boot as make sure that enable boot from USB is enabled. This is on my HP and ASUS as well anyway.
Microsoft: "LiNuX iS a cAnCer!!! It attaches itself to everything!" Also Microsoft: "Hey, pst... hey... AMD, Intel... wanna make CPUs with our Pluton cancer that only let people use Windows? C'mon, it'll be cool!!!"
welp this just made me push getting off windows faster than before, good thing i been testing multiple distros lately. this is just sickening, they really want to be the next apple don't they where control everything and probably type of hardware goes into each build cause this is what i am seeing from this.
Hey eBuzz, it might be unnecessary or rude of me to ask, but your thumbnail titles are extremely similar to DT. They are very easy to read and I like that, but unless you want people to be confused and mistake your videos with DTs, I'd suggest you change the color of those thumbnail titles, to a color or 2-3 colorset that is characteristic to your channel. I know yellow was a quite bright color but at least it was something characcteristic to yr channel. I suggest some nice combination of a different yellow tint(for text) and a teal maybe(for text background)? the purple gets so confusing with DT. But of course, do as you believe to be the best for your channel, I am just a guy on the internet ofc :)
Well my colors on the channel went from yellow and black, to purple and white so that's why my thumbnails changed, I was going along with the aesthetics of the logo I was using. But that is no longer a concern because I've changed all my Logos and profiles and I have updated the font and colors of my thumbnails as you can see on my newest Fedora video. th-cam.com/video/i2lh95QUbHQ/w-d-xo.html
Oh goody our unelected 4th branch of Government the Peeping Tom Branch comprised of Microsniff and friends is getting more disturbing. What could possibly go wrong?
I'm not worried at all, even in the worse case scenario you would be able to disable this in the bios. Intel and even amd came out and said this already.
It shouldn't be there., I love when people say it doesn't bother me because it's going to be able to be disabled, until it isn't until that firmware update hits and we can't do that anymore. Uefi, tpm, and now pluton they're all there for a reason, and they're all basically controlled by Microsoft who can it anytime with a flip of a switch take over everything on our hardware.
uefi is a pain in the ass. you have to do a little research to install linux, but with an intel processor it can be done. dell is making it more difficult lately and you have to go to their repair section to get some information. i bought a refurb dell desktop that had a code in the computer so that i couldn't swap the hard drive. it took me a while to figure that one out. the company i bought it from didn't even know it had a code on it!
I realize I’m being tin foil hat, but it sounds like I would probably be best sticking to outfits like system76 or starlabs or getting recycled PCs for my next system. That said, do you think Pluton may be on 100% of PCs by some point, and if so, what then?
@@eBuzzCentral Definitely going with System76 or Starlabs then. Recently they both had announced new models and sound healthy. I suspect the Linux PC vendors like them will have increased business from community users in the coming months/years. I have a Steam Deck on reserve and I may just make that my primary system (though I find KDE a complete maze when configuring it).
I believe in the beginning it will be able to be disabled, but I believe Microsoft's going to make it mandatory in the name of "security". The same way that Apple stopping right to repair people from being able to get parts and hardware to fix their devices in the name of "safety and security"
All these are industry driven where MS can go and show their OS is very secure. Companies in the government or private sector probably love that stuff as they feel they are secured and meet regulations
M$ wants to monetize and control the user base the same way apple and google do with their smartphone. Since M$ lost the mobile war, they want to add the hardware id and remote control functionality which all smartphones have, to the pc platform.
How can System76 continue to survive? I am scared of all proprietary software! My stance on software is that only open-source can be ethical! For System76 to continue supporting the Linux community, they may be forced to disable the Pluton processor, which may not be possible.
I will be fair I just find that video to be really conspiritional. That doesn't mean you don't need to keep an eye onto Microsoft. So what Pluton is is what Microsoft describes on that part it doesn't change. About preventing Linux from booting, the only articles about that are mostly derived from the post on phoronix citing another person which claims that he wasn't able to boot Linux on it's laptop with Microsoft Pluton BECAUSE OF LENOVO UEFI. So for this one don't blame Microsoft. However, as Microsoft business is also selling user data, having one of their chip inside my computer is a no go for me. That doesn't mean it microsoft collects data with this chip but just that I don't trust them enough for that. Also, for the most part Microsoft Pluton is something Microsoft thought in 2020, and as now TPM2.0 is already their implemented by almost all processor vendors, so why would Intel or AMD want to have microsoft mess in their business. And if you look more closely at their article, they stipulate "Chip-to-cloud" and Azure a lot of time. So I think their target is not the global consummer as it is just not in a good place in the industry to do so but for Windows Servers (which run windows so in this case the just really don't care about linux which is normal) and to provide to those server more security measures in order to prevent any attacker to be able to exploit their system, which can cost a lot for giant companies. So that's it all. Microsoft trying to make their security measures processors, and Lenovo failing to make a good UEFI while using there processor. And quick reminder, Linux can also be improved by secure boot, the kernel already support it. The problem is with the motherboard vendor (as they are the one making their UEFI) because they need to install the required CA certificate. Most user are using windows so yes Microsoft CA certificate is shipped by default. But then comes Linux or should I say "GNU/Linux"s, or Redhat (Fedora, CentOs, ...), Canonical (Ubuntu, and all derived OSs), Debian, Arch, Gentoo, Linux from Scratch, System76, etc... And there is the trouble it is not "Linux" it is all those distributions which have their system. So some manufacturer have added Canonical CA certificate, but most don't because if they start to do that, people will be "but what about XXXX" which make the process a pain in the *** and makes it more risky of a private CA key being leaked, reducing the overall security, and that's not even speaking about source base distro like gentoo where you could not have a out of the box experience by default with secure boot as you should compile your kernel by yourself, so you should make your own key as a public private key is as useless as no secure boot at all. Also, one of the major issue with secure boot currently on linux is our old favorite GPU manufacture Nvidia. They start to work with Linux at least, but for the moment if you want to use Nvidia under Linux you need to use their proprietary kernel module, which should be signed by the same private key used to sign your kernel.... But as it is proprietary I'm not even sure it is possible..
That's a lot of good information thank you for sharing. I do have to disagree with you about Nvidia and their proprietary kernel, Nvidia went open source some months ago.
@@eBuzzCentral I know that but the problem is that it is currently badly implemented into the linux ecosystem for the moment. For example, the last version of LTS Ubuntu is 22.04, released before NVidia open source their driver, meaning that for people who work only on LTS releases of Ubuntu they will need to wait April 2024 before having access to those drivers. Also Nvidia partially open source them, for example the opensource kernel driver readme state "The open-gpu-kernel-modules can be used on any Turing or later GPU (see the table below)" They also mention some other version which might work with more recent version, but only as alpha. Also their utilities like the nvidia GUI is still not open source. And about the kernel driver, most of them are directly in the kernel repository as it is easier to manage to fix them directly when doing some internal refactoring, than having them outside. However nvidia kernel driver do not match linux style so they need to be rewrite to match the kernel code style, and also there is the question about having duplicate kernel driver if nvidia drivers made into it as there is already nouveau which is the reversed engineer driver for the nvidia software. So for now, it is in a complicated state where most distribution which handle Nvidia graphic cards use the proprietary driver, and the other one do rely on the "nouveau", leaving those open source kernel driver not really used that much for the moment. But at least they start to finally open source them and also to move in the same direction as everyone, (look for EGLStream and GBM, where Nvidia did make things more difficult by having a different mechanism than everyone else). But I would say almost same as Microsoft (without the privacy issue), stay alert, but for now they seems to go in the right direction.
This is security for the botnet, not security for the users, windows is otherwise a very insecure OS. Microsoft don't want hackers, or regular users to acquire control of the computers they remote control using Windows.
it's hilarious. The company with the most malware and fewest privilege layers talking about hardware security 99% of users will never need. I almost fell out of my chair laughing.
Microsoft won't be able to completely lock down CPUs due to the lawsuit over secure boot, but they'll surely try to make it as inconvenient as possible to leave the windows ecosystem.
It's literally just a CPU integrated TPM that does not rely on motherboard RAM to run (cutting down on Spectre like attacks!) but the CPU own Cache and unlike a board mounted TPM can not be physically hacked Could Microsoft use it to do bad stuff sure but I doubt AMD will let it be exploited and harm their Reputation btw Intel designed a tweaked version with Microsoft too work on their Lake Series X86 chips
If we got Linux running on Apple M1, UEFI, and other obscure platforms then I don't see it as being too far off to be taking advantage of this hardware in a few years. I note the video says there is the ability to update firmware on the chip, through Windows Update at least. What if we found a way to "jail-break" this process somehow by spoofing a key perhaps, in order to take advantage of the hardware itself? This might be something the Coreboot team would be interested in, but perhaps it would allow Linux to secure itself from memory overruns (even better), or advance things like Disk Encryption or 2FA. Protection from the "evil nanny" situation would be a plus on laptops. While I am not a systems engineer (yet), I could see this as plausible if people give it enough time. Users disabling Intel Management Engine are an example to follow; I see this Pluton thing being an inconvenience at most and a possible strength in the future, if we can get user keys into it.
THAT"S BS-- all you have to do is TELL MS to go straigth back where they came from (and It's HOT)... and IGNORE their bullshit... if that doesn't work- THROW WINDOWS IN THE FREAKIN TRASH like you should have done LONG AGO.. Someone needs to get BG out and beat him really good!!
Its time to start micromanaging MS Intel & AMD.. perhaps their workers and app partners.. especially foreigner contractors. They are preping for the days of we have monitors instead of computers an we must report in front of them ever so many hours or be rounded up by the global gestapo! Everything you just talked about is why i do not want windows 11!
Yes our future of owning nothing and loving it while we chow down our bug sandwiches made by Billy Boy himself. Now get your government sponsored smart toilet. Billy Boy and friends just want to take a peak. It's for your health and the good of the community. Your post is spot on!!!!
True except the gestapo were part of the resistance.
agree the time mr bill start taking part on nwo bullshit a tought some like tha wil come
Is there a way to quickly tell which parts or devices have pluton, and which won't?
As of right now the AMD 6000 series CPU is what I know of.
Microsoft loves Linux and open source so much, the only way to use Linux is by starting up malicious software, running Windows Chains for Linux and hope nobody figures out that's the opposite of privacy, security and freedom. Like an American asking the Soviets for permission to sing the national anthem during the 1980s.
thanks. this is the first i've heard about this. there hasn't ever even been a topic about it on the tech forum i regular. keep us updated on this topic because it's looking like every other news story, it pops up and then disapears never to be spoke of again. it's like every article i can find on pluton is from 2022
Time for Cyrix to make a comeback as Linux compliant. And matrox as the gpu to run with it.
I love that wallpaper. Excelsior!
hey e-buzz I down loaded endeavour os all three new ones, I could not loads and run a lot of my programs that I need. I still run arcolinux . Please review artlemis and atlanta thank you
From the acronyms I heard this might suggest not being able to run an untrusted OS even in a type 1 hypervisor or in an untrusted type 2 hypervisor.
Do you use a different distro in every video?
I actually have two Business machines that are running Storm OS, I have my desktop that's running Garuda, I have two laptops one that runs Fedora 36 and the other one is presently running Nitrux. And depending where I am in my work day when I make my video is generally what machine I will use.
truth,free always!!!!!! empower PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TRUE,FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent Video Troy, ill go a step further, Billy Boi Gates and Microcrap can kiss my you know what, if people think Billy Boi isnt involved in this then they got another thing coming!! Even though Billy stepped down he runs MIcrocrap with an Iron Fist!!
Pluton goes beyond letting you install other OSes on your preferred Platform, it's a remote permissions chip that takes only actions that Microsoft Security Cloud deems "safe."
It is thought that Microsoft can know if you are running Pirated Software on your PC and block it, it should not be allowed to use this chip (send samples) when you want to Install Windows, since it violates all the privacy and freedom of the user.
It sounds paranoid but that little chip is very dangerous.
@eBuzz Central Could you make a video on how you setup your desktop that way in Garuda Linux?
Pluton, the lord of the underworld. Not ominous at all. :)
So after that step, ms will start doing the subscription model on windows also.
What do you think of Lunacy ? Am not en expert; seems like nice app..
Most of these kinds of things are Windows focused and have an ON-OFF switch attached to them.
You're not understanding, they will have control of what can be installed on that system, and yes right now it does have an on and off switch, what happens when that firmware update comes and it doesn't have that on and off switch anymore, and you're locked in to sticking with Windows and not being able to install what you want on your computer because it doesn't have the proper encryption keys, because you is the consumer don't hold them they're stored on Microsoft servers.
allinfo.space/2022/07/09/microsoft-pluton-security-chip-doesnt-let-linux-on-the-lenovo-z13-and-z16/
I appreciate you keeping it real.
WTF man!👿 And I was really thinking about going for AMD as the hardware choice for my futures computers. Intel, Qualcomm and now AMD?? What else do we have left?!
LOL, how abojt a Rasberry PI?
@@msteckis ARM is still a niche. Not very powerful either but the main problem would be that not a lot of software is available for it.
Microsoft is pure evil. They literally are all showy about they love Linux/opensource and scumbags introduce another backdoor. I wonder what Linus T has to say about this.
Things I wish to see more:
-Hoping RISC-V would catch up
-Coreboot
-Older AMD hardware.
-More Linux Hardware manufacturers.
-Purism Laptops starting to make more sense.
Wow - AMD (open source video drivers) agreed to this sh*t?
And none of these are going to help...
1. VIA's Zhaoxin Processor: The Chinese x86 manufacturer (probably ships with embedded back doors )
2. Elbrus processor - for Russian Gov.
3. SHAKTI processor - India
However, Intel does much for the linux kernel. So I hope, motherboards with intel-configuration will hopefully continued to be supported on linux.
It attaches itself to everything!"
Also Microsoft: "Hey, pst... hey... AMD, Intel... wanna make CPUs with our Pluton cancer that only let people use Windows? C'mon, it'll be cool!!!"
the ironic part of this is that all this is using minix that is embedded into the cpu's.
welp this just made me push getting off windows faster than before, good thing i been testing multiple distros lately. this is just sickening, they really want to be the next apple don't they where control everything and probably type of hardware goes into each build cause this is what i am seeing from this.
as long u can disable it like the T2 on apple to install any other os i dont mind it.

Oh goody our unelected 4th branch of Government the Peeping Tom Branch comprised of Microsniff and friends is getting more disturbing. What could possibly go wrong?
I am glad I just built my i5 1500 for Linux Mint. I am not letting windows on my system.
Also, we, as in Linux comunity, were able to run Linux on Apple M1 and M2s right 😁
I'm not worried at all, even in the worse case scenario you would be able to disable this in the bios.
I think it's time to consider open hardware
Open design
It's going to be disabled by default, but naturally that won't last long.
Somebody better wake up daddy Linus as we the users can be united behind him and make them open up this code license for open source.
Well, we all knew this day was coming.
That wallpaper is perfect for dr460niz3d... Good info T dizzle
I heard that mfg's of laptops can't get a microsoft license unless they install pluton on their cpu.
uefi is a pain in the ass. you have to do a little research to install linux, but with an intel processor it can be done. dell is making it more difficult lately and you have
to go to their repair section to get some information. i bought a refurb dell desktop that had a code in the computer so that i couldn't swap the hard drive. it took
me a while to figure that one out. the company i bought it from didn't even know it had a code on it!
Uhg I cannot deal with Microsoft, they make me sick. Good thing we have ARM and more importantly Risc-V
I realize I’m being tin foil hat, but it sounds like I would probably be best sticking to outfits like system76 or starlabs or getting recycled PCs for my next system. That said, do you think Pluton may be on 100% of PCs by some point, and if so, what then?
I look at it this way, UEFI started out like this, TPM started out like this, it's just a matter of time before it becomes standard on all PCS.
Any Linux user that uses MS products deserves what happens to them
This problem just isn't in Microsoft products anymore, it's embedded in the processors that are being released on all machines.
Why is that? Sometimes you don't have a choice in which OS you use (as in a work PC) or software to use on it.
Awfully glad I just did the system refresh here at home. At least my current processors are mine, sigh.
Troy, do you think they will allow users to disable this feature? As someone points out, this is a monopolistic practice and is surely unethical.
I believe in the beginning it will be able to be disabled, but I believe Microsoft's going to make it mandatory in the name of "security". The same way that Apple stopping right to repair people from being able to get parts and hardware to fix their devices in the name of "safety and security"
I switched to Linux Manjaro xfce and I absolutely love it. Microsoft can kiss my you know what.
EU Commission wouldn't stand for this, they will fine their ass off ...
I hope they do
RISC-V architecture will become MORE popular in the future for TRUE AF Libreware from the ground up.
Let's not forget the Linux foundation is comprised by Microsoft anyway, so this is just one of many vectors of attack.
Thankfully, PLUTON did not make it into Intel 12th gen.
what about pc builds, pc gamer that I build
Did you have to be very careful with the CPU that you order
All these are industry driven where MS can go and show their OS is very secure. Companies in the government or private sector probably love that stuff as they feel they are secured and meet regulations
The world is going to hell...
Yes it is my friend
WEF 2030 AGENDA, You will own nothing and be “happy”.
Thank u for teaching me on what not to buy in the future
There are ALOT of used cpu's on the market so when i upgrade my i5-9600k going to a i-7 9900k on ebay.
You say all this in your newer video that I already watched!
It's not a big deal, it will just be another annoying setting in your BIOS to turn of like that WHQL crap on some systems.
AMD... wth
Linux is Better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not perfect none is perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boycottt MS,and lawsuit against Redmond s Monopoly,UE must help this happen too...
make,buy,sell made in USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
skynet from the terminator, don't use their product
It's literally just a CPU integrated TPM that does not rely on motherboard RAM to run (cutting down on Spectre like attacks!) but the CPU own Cache and unlike a board mounted TPM can not be physically hacked
Could Microsoft use it to do bad stuff sure but I doubt AMD will let it be exploited and harm their Reputation btw Intel designed a tweaked version with Microsoft too work on their Lake Series X86 chips
M$ at it again as usual.
Well im good with my i3 and i7 and if i need to upgrade i will search wich cpu dont had microsoft crap
Microsoft has a solution for all this. It's WSL.../s
Windows is absolute crap. Even they will have more control but they can't beat Linux
I will use Intel processors instead of AMD.
Boycott and don't by anything Microsoft related
Its time to start micromanaging MS Intel & AMD.. perhaps their workers and app partners.. especially foreigner contractors. Hell.. make a new chip company managed by community vetted badasses with clean record.
it's patriotic and rewarding to secure our people resources IPs nation and future. Kicking non-American-hostile-actors and criminal hackers to the curb HARD goes without saying. 🆘✊🤨🇺🇸🗽😑
