I just want to say thank you to you Christian, not just for the content and knowledge of wrapping, but for giving me the confidence to change careers and pursue something I love. I took a 5 day course through Hexis here in Australia recently and I've now wrapped two cars and I'm investing in refurbishing my garage into a shop. Without you I wouldn't have thought it was possible to go out on my own at 30 years old and do something completely different. Cheers!
LurkMoar101 You can buy Hexis, Oracal and Avery locally here in Melbourne, all three have suppliers. Orafol (Oracal film) have a sales representative and distributor for WA, or you can buy direct from their website. Graphic Art Mart in Belmont will distribute Avery.
I've never posted on TH-cam before. Never cared. But after watching dozens of your videos I'm finally opening my own shop this month. You're very good at what you do (the wraps AND the videos). You inspire people and I want to genuinely thank you.
Being a sign shop owner myself, I have to give you props on doing what you do. You get LOTS of credibility by doing videos... and this one especially. As we know, if it was easy everyone would be doing it. As long as you have the market and skills and customer service, you WILL be successful.
As a 20 year one man business, this is all solid advice. I install shower doors, the only difference is I don’t have to sell anything, the bath supply stores quote my price and give my name. But this wrap thing is looking like a sweet add on. I have a shop, and nobody is doing this around me. Thank you for all of the info you share.
Thank you so much for this and your many videos. You've become my mentor, and I've told so many people about the videos you put out. I truly appreciate what you've put out and your intentions. I've learned so much and can't wait to put this knowledge to use and have you as reference for trouble in the future. You are also well spoken and passionate about what you are showing us. Thanks Christian!!
Thanks, Chris, once again I have been working for a restaurant company for years and I make money, but I'm bored to do the same thing over and over. I do that for living, but my passion is not there anymore. probably it's going to be hard to start but I feel my enthusiasm awakes when I start to realize that cars are my passion and it's funny cause years ago I did work for a company doing tinting windows and honestly I'm not looking to become rich right away, I'm looking that thing can sparkle my creativity and passion. It's been a while since I didn't feel so excited to do something like this, I have past hours watching videos from you and many other people around, but thanks to your honestly and humbleness I can say you got me really inspired. the only thing I can say, it's thank you so much! I don't know how far I will get in this but I discovered that I'm still can change my path. Thank you again!
Do you know what, it's so refreshing to see a presentation like this that isn't sales-pitchy. You come across as just a normal guy, who loves what they do, just so natural. I love the fact this is all done in one take, not jump cuts etc. I mean this in a nice way when I say it seems like this wasn't planned at all, just flows. I love the way you wrote mak instead of make and you just laugh about it instead of refilming, for example. It's great! I could watch your videos all day man. Keep it up and all the best for the future, from the UK x
I live in a small apparment in the middle of a 'large' city here in Denmark, wrapping is a really small thing here, i freaking love it, anything from my Gf's pc to my PS4/Xbox, even some parts of my bike have been wrapped. I have no place to wrap my own car, a public parking garage dont seems like the best place to do it, but once i get myself a house, i will go right ahead and get started, ive been wanting to do this for over a year, watched many youtubers, started with ACW, and now i mostly watch you, so informative!! The small wraps ive done have been with cheap vinyl of Ebay, and it turned out great. i feel like I can do this!! Can't wait to get the space and place to do it! Next up is going to be my Guitar i think, never use it anyways ;D Just wanted to thank you for being so honest and straight from the heart type of guy!!
Your videos are going to ensure that I’m successful. The way you explain things is phenomenal and easily understandable. I’ve seen your face on TH-cam more in the last month than I’ve seen my moms face in the last two years. I’m still working on my first car, fixing all the initial mistakes I made, and already I have people interested. I did what you said and put it out there, and it’s working!
I’m about to start vinyl wrapping my own car and continue to reach out to others and start a business and watching your videos gives me so much more inspiration and tips and I thank you !!🙌✨✨
Hey CK, thanks to your videos I wrapped my wife's Chevy Colorado with Avery colorshift film. Now she gets so many people in town approaching her asking if it's a wrap, where she got it done, how much it was, etc. I had a ton of fun learning and installing it, but I never thought about doing it as a job; it sounds crazyy scary going from a 9 to 5 guaranteed paycheck to working your own. Great job making something you love into a paying job man. Keep the videos coming.
It is scary, I had a full time job paying a salary with benefits before going into Wraps full time. I remember the feeling of worry. But I had wraps as a side hustle for a long time and eventually built up enough of a portfolio and client base to keep things moving. It took over a year to feel secure in working for myself
I've been practicing for the last two mouths wrapping blue chrome. It was difficult at first but I got the hang of it. I discovered something I'm naturally good at. Thanks ck
I greatly appreciate this content! Even running an amateur shop out of my garage for over a year I've learned so much thank you 🙏I'm keeping this on repeat to engrain every detail.
Christian, your humility and willingness to share your knowledge and experience is a testament to how all people should be in every walk of life to helping others in this world. You’re truly a positive example. Keep doing what you’re doing. 😎👍
Thanks man, this is gold. So many times you ask people, about getting started (in any industry), and they are protectionist, they flat out tell you it's a saturated industry, there's no money in it etc. Very rare to find someone so helpful and honest with this sort of information.
Great video Christian. You covered a lot of important information and you added a lot of things I was unaware of such as the wide scope of things you can apply vinyl to. Incredible insight Christian. I'm new to wrapping....as a matter of fact I'm headed to intro training in 2 weeks and seeing the posts below tells me I'm in the right spot at the right time. I appreciate the time and hard work you put into your channel. Thanks for the inspiration.
I would like to say thank you. You truly love what you are doing and show that in every single video. You showing what's behind it, is proof you care about the industry and not just yourself and your business. The educational side of your videos had a huge impact for me to finally start wrapping and be confident about it.. That's why a huge thank you. Greetings from Switzerland.
Ck you're the best! I've watched just about every video you've put out. I'm going the right direction and I'm slowly building my brand and name. I'm about to wrap a race bike. That's the niche I'm going after, motorcycles. I'm officially sponsoring a race bike, its pretty crazy! One step at a time. You are the master and I'm very grateful for your willingness to share the knowledge. I hope we cross paths some day so I can shake your hand and thank you in person. Keep it up!!
This week I’ll start wrapping my own car. If it comes out good, I’ll start advertising on facebook. Wish me luck. Thanks for great videos. I’m learning a lot.
Thank you for this video! I was searching for info to DIY my truck, and after watching this I am seriously considering making a move in this industry. I love the challenge/ reward aspect of this, and the application possibilities are endlessly left to ones imagination. I really appreciate the positive message and vibe your putting out, thank you. Definitely liked and subscribed to your channel! Keep up the good work and best regards!
Thank you so much for this video. What kind of Verbage or agreement do you Have with your customers any kind of warranty or guarantee. What kind of insurance the you need?
I have ALWAYS wanted to be my own boss. I learned how to wrap while designing them at work. Your videos have helped me see the path n that this is a viable option. Thank you so much. I can't wait til spring to wrap my CHR.
You are a very generous men and very smart! As you said, your vidéos are instructive but also your business card! By doing so, you are keeping a standard of quality and ethics in your industry by stating the example and customers expectations! You love what you do and you don’t have to tell us, we hear it and we see it! That motivates the entrepreneurship in those young and talented people. Tip of the hat men!
First started watching your videos because i wanted to learn how to wrap my own car. Going to start to play with it and get better to see if its something I like. I like how detailed your videos go and the quality of your wrap process. I can't wait to try my hand at it. Going to start small on my rear view mirrors in a few days and see how it goes. Again, love the videos. Best wrap channel out there.
I was managing a wrap shop but things weren't working out between myself and the owner and now I'm doing wraps on my own. These videos are a Godsend man, thanks so much.
I’m so inspired! Thanks you! This video gonna make wrap police more consistent with daily post😂 I honestly wish everyone the best on this path! Good luck.
and another inspiration right here. We respect you so much man!! Thank you so much teaching us not with just car wrapping but where you started from the bottom man. We need more ppl like you in our lives... Thank you again.
16:50 I knew of wraps but knew nothing of the process until I stumbled across your vids around 4 years ago. Now, I'm on the fence about taking the plunge, but that's more to do with availability of quality film in my area (costs heaps to get it shipped here) but I know it's something I want to do because I enjoy it a lot. One thing I have noticed though, is that there is a rather large group of enthusiasts in the car scene who are dead against wraps as opposed to paint. So against it in fact that owners of wrapped cars are driven out of clubs and groups. Whether this is because of the quality, the colour, the 'rice', Im not sure but it happens and it's pretty depressing to someone like me who thinks of the unlimited potential with film. Regardless, Ive enjoyed your videos forever Christian, I cannot thank you enough for what you do. I wish I could show everyone your vids to see just what can be achieved.
I dont have enough time in the day and you do not have enough videos for me to learn this art from. Im in Vermont, USA and im sick of putting my 110% for nothing exta but a fat wallet for someone else. I think ive found a real passion in this and I have a garage at my disposal. You are a great guy to put this knowledge out like this. I just wish there was someone around this bum fahk no where I could apprentice with or something.
For those that have thanked you for this video and your others...I want to echo that. This (in general) is a great business model video for not just wrapping but any type of business someone wants to start up for themselves. Please keep up the great content you put out.
I’m about to Take Over my country Portugal with the wrap game! You inspired me and one of my friends to do What We thrive for and please our liking for good looking cars and art! Thanks a lot, you got us the keys, we Will open the door. Thank you Sir!
This video gave me alot of inspiration and motivation to try and start out myself! Im currently working in the NHS (National Helth Service (UK)) and with all the crippling cuts its just not worth the stress and trauma for the money working withing the NHS. So i started to wrap my car, Starting with light tints and have now got to a point where i can do it without making several cuts, so i started doing it on my family's car for more practice. Hope i can start to make a living out of this as i love wrapping things lol Thanks for the Video @CKWraps! Much love bro!
Wrapping cars is my dream job. I’ve always wanted to do it. I started small with a large vinyl cutter to do decals right now. I am disabled so I have to work for myself. I’m lucky because my friend has a shop that I can use and pay him only for the cars I wrap😮😮 Once my son starts kindergarten I’ll be able to start hopefully. This video will help me convince my wife that it’s a great idea. Thanks for the inspiration, I love your videos
I do window tint, but I’ve learn how to do more on wrap thanks to you. since I learned while I was learning how to tint windows. thanks for your videos man. I’m getting more and more into it and it’s coming out better than before 👌
Thankyou for another motivating video. You mentioned printing at the end, it would be nice to see a more in depth look at how printing process is done, what type of machines and processes are recommended, maybe a comparison between simple slaps vs full on fleet graphics. Thanks again, always appreciate your videos!
Bit late to the video but just want to say thanks Chris! I’ve seen a lot of your videos and just wanted to thank you for inspire us and teach us everytime
In the UK this industry is huge, but it is being ruined by some people. Im talking about the companies who wrap cars very badly and charge so little. Some people think that just because they can get a wrap for a few hundred pounds, every company should charge the same. It doesnt work like that, and we struggle to get business because we always have people wanting it done cheap. We charge a fair amount for the work that is done, and we only use the best material, but the UK public always want something for nothing. That is the trouble these days, normal everyday people are getting tight with their money. A lot of people just think you stick it on and away you go, so they think its easy to do and they dont want to pay a lot. Its not easy! It involves days worth of labour. My advice to someone wanting a wrap is, do your homework. See the process before you get a few quotes, because if its done cheap, its not done right. Once you see the work involved, you respect the higher prices because you know it will be done right. In this industry, you really do get what you pay for.
Wow this is awesome, I've been Detailing cars/Trucks/SUV's for 6 years and I've been really interested into getting into wrapping cars just to add a skill to what I can do. Did you have to pay money to learn how to do this or are their places you can go to that are willing to teach you how to do this?
Pretty informative with good content. I hope to see more obscure wraps from you showing the vast opportunities out there such as boats, home appliances, furniture, business equipment, expo displays etc.
Heck this is an AMAZING presentation Christian ... Absolutely phenomenal in its consistency and organisation ... Your passion shines greatly buddy . just wow ... Thank You CK 🦁😇
Great video, the business info was really helpful and I'd really like to see some videos on wrapping appliances or household items that people usually don't think about. Thanks, CK! Keep up the good work!
Great presentation. I remember you from Visual Solutions. Another advertising tool would be to wrap a students car in high school and college. Instant marketing and you will be surprised how many more customers you will get. Many will save money up to just to get the wrap and many of them purchase used cars that they want to instantly upgrade. So car wraps would definitely be a great alternative for them. Keep up the good work. I think it's a wonderful industry and I wish I had taken graphic arts in school.
These are the videos I've been waiting for. As a small business owner in the vinyl industry I'm looking to grow within a couple years, I don't want to just own a business. I want to RUN a business
Thanks so much for this; it's really made me want to push to get my shop going. I've learned so much from your videos and its made me realize just how much this is the perfect industry for me. Can't wait to wrap my truck and start getting a feel for everything. Keep up the great work with the videos and the content on IG!
This is great business advice but this would be around the first couple years of starting off, but in order to grow you need to build a team and start off as an llc for tax returns. A great investment would be to buy a printer that makes wraps (expensive affff) but worth it as you won’t lose that 36k annually from 1 wrap a week, not only that but you could reach a lot of D.I.Yers by selling your own products. Within 5-8 years there’s a possibility of leaving your shop and owning another one else where. There’s more you could do but just throwing out what I would do and my opinions but this is a great video :)👍🏼
You are seriously an Absolutely brilliant man!!! I hope and wish you more and more customers to keep your doing alive. Wish I was in your country but shame I'm in germany!!! All the beat dude
Thank you so much for this brother. Very informative, definitely gave me the confidence to go out there and make a name for myself in the wrapping industry.
Bro u & paradox the wrapper are like my two inspirations to do this shit. I’m going to start out on my clapped out e36, & then when I get that good , I’m going to wrap my FRS & use these cars as my marketing tools to show ppl what I can offer them
CK, thanks, man! Some individuals are hesitant to post information of this kind, but you cannot believe how useful this video is for your fellow enthusiasts willing to start their own venture. Your TH-cam has grown a lot in quality too! I’ve been watching for a while now. Keep up the great job. Hope it all pays off while you help others find their craft!
You are amazing... takes a special kind of someone to be able to teach and express like you do. I am looking to get my kid and son-in-law into this business as we are all car lovers and the places you can take this is endless. Going to attempt our first full wrap on my sons Jetta MK4 which we will see how things go... from Navy Blue to Glossy Grey... looking forward to the challenge. You will be there with us in way of videos that is for sure...i am curious as to how busy it gets in winter months (we are from Montreal) so summers are super short and i wanted to know what kind of plan is there during the cold season? Cheers!
How much damage are you really gonna do? At worst you have to pay for a mirror or a panel spray, and unless you are around ferraris and lambos all day every day it probably is cheaper to pay out of pocket if an accident does happen.
Hmmm....great video. Actually was considering wrapping boats around my area (lake area). Hoping you have some more boat wraps in the future! I think cars are too intimidating without proper training and will take some balls on my part to go fly to some classes. Anyways, great video 👍
Thank you Christian as always your the best one of the reasons I started my own company and shop, and again thanks for your help with the mercedes door handles 😂🤣
Hey question I live in Adelaide South Australia and it’s not a huge city and I worried if anyone will actually come to my shop to get there car wrapped there’s about 1.3mil people live here u reckon I could be successful?
When someone pulls up in a super dirty car do you wash it or do you tell them to come back with a cleaner car? What about a car that has paint chippings, rust, deep scratches or dents?
I just want to say thank you to you Christian, not just for the content and knowledge of wrapping, but for giving me the confidence to change careers and pursue something I love.
Keep at it man, consistency, passion and patience will pay off
Curious to how you’re doing William, look forward to seeing your response!
Also with wrapping interiors in the home is a great side piece. Would like to see your work on that.
What a road it has been seen your first vids and also seen some major and fascinating changes when you began 🙌 congrats and very help tips 👑
👏🏾🙂 Cheers for the lesson sir Chris. 🙂👍🏾
Why lol? If you start running you'll only die tired ;)
Watch all your videos to learn each car I wrap! Keep putting them out!!
This content is gold I swear! Keep the videos coming bro!
very helpful man no one else is doing what youre so keep it going
Thanks so much for this; it's really made me want to push to get my shop going. I've learned so much from your videos and its made me realize just how much this is the perfect industry for me. Can't wait to wrap my truck and start getting a feel for everything. Keep up the great work with the videos and the content on IG!
This guy is our youtube professor in car vinyl wrapping. Better than Harvard goofies
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You’ve taught me more in this video than my whole first year of business management at uni 😆👍🏼✌🏼❤️
Just starting out in this industry and your videos are so helpful! Thank you!
Thanks CK, I appreciate every video, you are my mentor and you don’t even know it but now you do. 👏🏽
You are seriously an Absolutely brilliant man!!! I hope and wish you more and more customers to keep your doing alive. Wish I was in your country but shame I'm in germany!!! All the beat dude
I willing to drive from Alberta to Ottawa to get training and work for you 🤓👍🏿🇨🇦
Thank you so much for this brother. Very informative, definitely gave me the confidence to go out there and make a name for myself in the wrapping industry.
Brother you are the best the way you explain is so clear 🔥🔥🎯
Thanks so much for this.
I am starting my small business myself and you been great inspiration
Bro u & paradox the wrapper are like my two inspirations to do this shit. I’m going to start out on my clapped out e36, & then when I get that good , I’m going to wrap my FRS & use these cars as my marketing tools to show ppl what I can offer them
I have mad respect for you brother
Cheers!
Great video! What about insurance? What if u damage the car by accident during work? Do u have any insurance covering it?
How much damage are you really gonna do? At worst you have to pay for a mirror or a panel spray, and unless you are around ferraris and lambos all day every day it probably is cheaper to pay out of pocket if an accident does happen.
Hmmm....great video. Actually was considering wrapping boats around my area (lake area). Hoping you have some more boat wraps in the future! I think cars are too intimidating without proper training and will take some balls on my part to go fly to some classes. Anyways, great video 👍
I wish I started on my own about 8 years ago. So much competition and over saturation locally I convinced myself if wouldn’t work out
Thanks Christian brother ... Supremely professionally presented. ... Brilliant 💓🏁 peace
Love the content love your work I truly appreciate all of your videos keep it up man!!! 👍👍Deffinitely inspiring
what colors do you recomand buying first when you start ? (I'm thinking black, carbon, hunting design to get started.) Small pieces to get use to it?
A print wrap especially with window vision will cost around 3500 here. Plus the overhead of equipment and lots of design time are a consideration.
Thank you Christian as always your the best one of the reasons I started my own company and shop, and again thanks for your help with the mercedes door handles 😂🤣
Would you mind sharing what software you use for making customer bookings, managing jobs in the work shop and invoicing etc.
I’m gonna put this method to the test. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for the lesson Christian. See you in class...
Thanks for all the info planning on getting into this. Looks difficult but looks great at the end.
thank you for taking the the out to share your wisdom...
Where do you get the wrap from? Do you just get it from a local shop and tell clients to choose from the online shop?
You got my interest in doing this.Great vids!
Once again - a lot of useful information. Thank you!
Great video and you seem like a great guy! Awesome content and very helpful.
I’m 15 want start start my own wrapping business and this pushing me toward that
