When at the Two Hearted River State Campground check out the inside walls of the wood outhouses. Then have beautifully stained Oriented Strand Board (OSB). It looks beautiful with the skylight.

Making me homesick. Spent a lot of time along the L. Superior shoreline picking agates and camping plus in the fall it's a good area for grouse aka partridge. I'm old and hate cold now so I live on the coastal bend of TX. Great video really get a feel for what this area is like.

My wife drove out to Crisp Point in the middle of winter not knowing that it was a snowmobile trail only in the winter months.. Her and our four daughters buried their rig and had to hike to the lighthouse area where there was luckily a emergency phone as the cellphone service is not existent out there. I had to drive out with our fully locked and winched Jeep to get her and the girls out. Years back some older ladies got stranded out there and I believe they survived on Girl Scout cookies. Lol

Took my son up there to camp when he was younger, and i was shocked at the fire damage. As a young man, i remember going there. It was a different place. Its still beautiful, but not anything like i remembered it.

Where do you find groups like this? This would be so cool!

If you're anywhere near the Michigan area, or might travel here someday, you can find out more and join us at fortunebay.org. We're just in the planning stages of our adventures for the coming year. If you're too far away from us, meetup.com is one way to find local groups in your area.

@@CM102888 Most of our members are from the lower peninsula, and the team started in Kent County so we have quite a few in that general area, but we have members as far away as eastern Ontario. You are certainly within a reasonable driving distance of many of our "local" events, and closer to the U.P. than most of us.
