Always wanted to see what that particular stretch of river looked like. Very cool, thanks for sharing! That noise You heard was most likely beavers tail slapping the water, they do a lot of that in the spring.
I have watched this series a few times now and I keep coming to the same conclusion. Thanks for the pull over portage masterclass, but not trying this run in my kayak!😅 I have been eyeing up an Old Towne Discovery 119 though hmm. At least I would look stylish until I got wet😅. Looking forward to any new posts on TH-cam
I really enjoyed that video not leaving out any bad stuff portaging through the Thicket done it many a time. I truly believe that was a bear crashing around. Thank you so much I really enjoyed that I’ll be watching part two tomorrow
Great job. Must give you alot of credit. About 11 years I did the same trip with my 14 year old son and a friend. Was meant to be a fishing trip but spent our energy on portaging our 2 canoes what felt like 60x. Beautiful country. Again, Kudos to you for doing it solo.
Awesome Trina! I did hold my breath when you fell in. Yikes. Relieved it turned out okay. Yeah, the sound was so weird! I would have suspected it was human. Never heard that before. Looking forward to part 2!
I love adventure thank you for sharing your beautiful vedio God bless you always keep safe so beautiful view love it enjoy boating fully watchi think many fish in there
I come from a family of German immigrants and homesteaders. I think the perseverance might be genetic. 😉 I am glad that you enjoyed part 1 of the video. 😊
EXCELLENT! I really enjoyed the voice over audio. It gave nice insight to what you were thinking about. I also enjoy watching segments where it is just the sound of the tasks at hand. Even without voice over your actions tell a great story. Keep the videos coming. BTW, I have friends in ND that make a drink they call aiming fluid using Everclear and flavor extracts. Whicked stuff. Your grandma was probably a lot of fun!
First that we’ve seen your channel, you’re one tough very capable girl! That river looks so much like the Mountjoy up here in Northern Ontario! Endless log jams, steep muddy banks...😖. We will definitely be checking out your videos. 👍😊
Thanks for the video! We were going to do this trip 2 years ago but got rained out. Might attempt it still... Looked like alot of downed trees. Love your canoe, what model is it,
Doing this trip this fall. I heard you say you stashed a bike at the take out... where did you leave the truck during the trip? I see a small trail head parking up the road. Any issues leaving the truck in the forest a couple of days?
New Sub here. Good stuff. Be careful out there, wouldn't be hard to get trapped under your canoe or a log with all those liftovers. Glad to see you have an Inreach. Might be a good idea to wear it on your life vest. Just in case. I'm from Michigan myself and do lots of trips with my lab. I have few videos over on my channel if you want to check them out. Looking forward to part 2. Cheers, Dan
When you get down there at the end at the river mouth there’s always really good campers that would give you a ride I know I would and I camp there all the time can’t wait to watch the next episode
Hi Bret thanks for watching. I did have an offer for a ride from a gentleman camper but as a female its never safe for me to get in a vehicle with a male stranger. So I am always ready to be self sufficient.
@@HermitsOutdoorAdventures Oh I understand I’ll be camping there for 10 days at the beginning of August looking forward to it. I look forward to part three and thank you for messaging me back I do appreciate that. I’ll have to watch your boundary waters videos.

This is so awesome. I’ve been thinking of doing similar but on a bike. Right now I have a mountain bike I’m converting to a gravel/adventure bike. Really looking to push myself.
That durable little canoe is an Old Town Pack Canoe made with Royalex Lite. I don’t think they make them anymore. Too bad it is perfect for small rivers, creeks and light enough a person doesn’t mind bringing it into little back country lakes.
Showed me why I didn't do it in my WW kayak. Went on and did the Bois Brule instead. Peaking as a sometime slalom canoeist, the dragging J is less efficient and effective than the "goon" stroke. I will try to send you a link to my 2 night run of Slickrock Canyon in western Colorado.
Paddling is meditative and second nature to me. The paddle has become an extension of my body. I seldom think about my stroke. Not looking to change but thanks.
My friends and I attempted this trip in May 2017 and had to bail out at the first chance we could access a trail back to the road. Too much gear, too many muddy, thick portages, and cold rain got the better of us. I have pictures of some of the downed trees that took many frames to capture. We didn't even make it to our first intended campsite (Reed and Green bridge). It was a memorial trip, but I still feel the THR got the better of me.
