- Lyrics:
One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head
Feed your head

One of the best covers I've heard of anything from the 60's and 70's counterculture. Fantastic work as always from the Hawl!
"White Rabbit" is an iconic song originally performed by Jefferson Airplane, and Joe Hawley's cover of it is truly a masterpiece. The song is known for its psychedelic sound and trippy lyrics that transport listeners into an alternate reality. Hawley's rendition captures the essence of the original while infusing it with his unique style, making it an unforgettable listening experience.
Hawley's version of "White Rabbit" is characterized by its hauntingly beautiful melody and the way he delivers the lyrics with raw emotion. He doesn't just sing the song; he becomes the song, conveying the message of the lyrics with such power and conviction that it's impossible not to be moved by it.
One of the reasons why Hawley's cover of "White Rabbit" is so great is because of the way he manages to balance the familiar with the new. He pays homage to the original by including the same lyrics and melody, but at the same time, he puts his own spin on it by infusing it with his unique style. This results in a fresh and exciting take on the classic song that manages to capture its essence while also breathing new life into it.
Another reason why Hawley's version of "White Rabbit" is so fantastic is the way he incorporates different musical elements into the song. The use of electronic instruments, combined with Hawley's soulful voice, creates a mesmerizing soundscape that draws listeners in and keeps them hooked until the very end.
Overall, Joe Hawley's cover of "White Rabbit" is a phenomenal piece of music that showcases his talent and creativity. It's a fantastic tribute to the original while also being a standalone masterpiece in its own right. Hawley's ability to capture the essence of the original while infusing it with his unique style is truly remarkable, and it's why his version of "White Rabbit" is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates great music.
PS: this truly is a fantastic cover by the Hawl.

@@genericcat6835 shh… I put my life work into this text!
YOU MADE THIS WITH AN AI 😭😭 ai texts always finish with a paragraph that starts with "Overall..."
You also forgot to mention Grace Slick's original vocals are in the song.

He really makes his music tough to listen to doesn't he
I seriously didn't know this existed after listening to Hawaii Part II for ages until a few weeks ago, it's bizzare
Edit: hope you're talking about how hard it is to access and not saying the music is bad
@@murpyh4002 I'm just saying he reverses stuff and it's hard to find, I do love it though. Hawaii part II is a work of art
@@tycho25 yeah, but he kind of had to do that. i agree it would be nice for it to actually all be available on spotify without being reverse though
@@aboi78 I'm not filled in on the whole story of tally hall and Joe hawley. Why did he have to reverse stuff? Where is everyone now? Anywhere I can get the whole picture?
@@tycho25 I'm not great at explaining, but I'll try my best. You see, for nearly all of his songs on this album, he used a lot of samples illegally, as they were meant to be just placeholders. Something happened, he wasn't able to take them out, album gets released, lots of legal troubles, and he had to release the album in reverse to avoid even more. I don't know the full story, just that he wasn't able to remove some illegal song samples.
Now, about Tally Hall overall, I know that Ross is a scientist, Zubin is a doctor, Rob works for Disney JR., and I think Andrew is a producer. I have no idea what Joe does, though some posts on his Instagram hint to the fact that he may become a music teacher. So, as you can tell, they're pretty split up. Rob and Zubin are also apparently pretty hard to contact, too, compared to the other band members who are all active on social media.
They did recently hit 1 million listeners on Spotify though, and Andrew basically said that new merch was going to be released in 2021. So.. *maybe* there's a chance of a reunion somewhere in the distant future. It's unlikely (especially with how they all have their own lives and families, Joe drama, etc) but I really hope so.

I love this song a lot --
Random but my favorite part is the everlasting drum in the background it reminds me of a drum that stimulates the energy of a soldier.
I wish Joe Hawley would make an Edgar Allen Poe-related song.. That'd be interesting
Fantastic cover by the hawl!
RAAAHHHHH THE JOY THIS BRINGS!!!
I've always adored Tally Hall and thus the iconic voice of Joe Hawley. I was reading into the lyrics of "Weird Bad &/or Yes Please", where the lyrics state "Johnnying the depths of fun and girling cortex". The explanation given on it mentioned that he'd made a cover of this, and I found this song years ago via my mum. This makes me very happy - I love this song, be it Jefferson Airplane or Joe Hawley.
A cover by the Hawl? Satisfactory.
Enya's sail away chanting at the end is the cherry on top of this already amazing cover
