I hope that in the future they make one called Project WM which is about planes and shit and Project ZB which is about surviving a zombie virus outbreak in Knoxville.
What a coincidence for you to mention Mica. Mica had a similar controversy when some of its devs split off from it to form Hypergryph and make Arknights, though AK at least didn't plagiarize GFL like Project KV did with BA
Aww man i was genuinely interested to see how it will do. Pretty unfortunate but it is what it is. I hope everyone involved with the project will come out better from the cancellation
Also, do not forget that because KV Project was promoted as 18+ ecchi VN, devs essentially blocked themselves from China (the most paying region). Even Archive it self had to tone down designs and release regional version. Full ecchi would be blocked whole.
@@Green_Peas9999 it's relevant though. Lowlight formerly part of GFL dev, then quit to create his own company. Fast forward to now, it's now a multi media franchise
2:40I mean as a potential investor would you really give your money on a product, not even released yet already hated by its target community? Dynamis One needs to hire a proper PR team before their next project.
Apparently Shift Up is only interested if Dynamis One has a prototype running...the problem is that DOne only has a single programmer they hired from outside since they are unable to poach any BA programmers.
Yeah, SHIFT UP was interested in prototype. But that before trailer released and controversy started(which also probably means deal was while devs yet had to leave Nexon). Now they will not give money to studio which made all core audience hate itself.
definitely alot happened during the whole debacle, the docu pretty much tells how the whole project was negatively received from both JP and KR bros the western fan base was pretty much clueless due to numerous factors, to the point that they are the only ones receiving the thing positively the one part that's tricky to touch on was the dispute between Nexon and the ex BA devs nothing concrete and substantial to form an opinion on nonetheless, both parties (Nexon games and Dynamis One) did each other dirty
Did Nexon really do anyone dirty? If that document is to be believed, the directors that spearheaded this whole debacle were paid more than even the CEO, and yet spread dissent among the BA staff over low pay before leaving. They also reportedly treated the programmers working on BA like shit, which is why they weren't able to poach any programmers when they left. Nexon didn't do anything noteworthy during this whole controversy, either. Even if the work environment had problems, doing things with a clear intent to sabotage the company both before and after leaving, so that you can make a carbon copy of the project you left, seems pretty unreasonable.
Honestly speaking, Nexon is largely irrelevant to the cancellation of KV itself. It might be more relevant if we know Nexon try to sue or at least send a C&D letter to them but so far there has be no news like that at all. Truth is, KV killed their ownselves due to their own incompetence really.
@@RevyaAeinsett that's the thing, there's no hard proof for either but I'd rather not make it that Nexon Games was the wholly innocent party here whether something did happen or not, unless the key players talk, we're all just left speculating in the end
@@gespy796Then maybe we shouldn't be speculating? What's the point of playing "guilty until proven innocent" here? There's virtually no evidence that Nexon had anything do with this whole incident outside of being tangentially related. If we have no proof that Nexon did anything wrong, then there's no point claiming that both parties are at fault. Nexon clearly isn't at fault based on the information we have. It's just a handful of former employees thinking themselves greater than they really were, and leaving one ship to captain another ship that they immediately punched a hole in with their own incompetence.
Wake tf up, Inoe uploaded 🔥 Anyways, thank you for summarizing this drama. I was loss due to rl matters when I saw that Dynamis One Twitter suddenly become empty. And tbh I was excited for P KV too😔
Project KV would survive and develop if only they ditched the halos and BA elements in it. They could've just make the game setting to be similar with that Busou shojo machiavellism anime instead.
If they at least dropped the halos and sky rings (or hell used Buddhist halos since the game is Buddhist themed, instead of Christian themed halos) then maybe they could get by on plausible deniability. But they copied so much from BA, it really screamed of creative bankruptcy. Or malicious mimicry.
In the end both sides loses. BA loses some of their key personnel and currently in crisis/recovery mode, KV cancelled and Dynamis One is probably in shambles rn. It's been really hard for me to enjoy BA recently because i'm a person that can't separate the arts and the artist.
It is kinda sad that Isakusan managed to pull such an awesome story for chapters 3 and F, to the point he seems to have convinced himself he was the second coming of Jesus or something due to all the praise he had been receiving, yet he failed to realize everything else he had written to that point was mid at best.
Well, as much as I am like that with Mihoyo, since they're a bunch of trash. But I don't see Nexon being this much, except some in-game story things I dislike very much.
BA will endure. Mx2J has kinda been phoning it in, DoReMi's last character design was the dress PS68s, Paruru's taking over (and let's not forget that there's still kokosand, whoisshe and many others), music-wise it's all good, we'll see what the new guy in charge of the story has for us in a couple months.
Really sucks to see it gone, I was very interested seeing how this game will play out and it sucks seeing these characters will never see the light of day
I don't have an opinion on either game, but it's hilarious that people are claiming it's plagiarism for making a knockoff of blue archive, with guns changed to swords, blue changed to red, etc. I mean just look at tower of fantasy, which is a blatant knockoff of genshin impact, which took many things directly from legend of zelda breath of the wild. And yet none of them got sued so obviously project kv wouldn't be sued for being too similar. (unless they directly took copyrighted assets, but they didn't.)
Tof not even copy genshin, it's mmo and their battle system just not even close, no elemental reaction in tof and tof has intro skill, Dodge, gadget, mount, etc (their core gameplay is regular mmo), even their engine is different (UE vs unity) and their development was in similar time (tof developed in 2019). But genshin did copy zelda. I think they don't get sued because they don't copy the mechanic and kv didn't even have mechanic to begin with because it just pv. But the controversy just too big that ruin the reputation, it's better to unplug the plug entirely just like what happened with Amazon to BP
This a good summary of what drama KV got into. it's a shame that we didn't get to see what the actual story or gameplay looked like. (even if it's VN, I would like to see it first) also very unrelated but this reminds me of Mano Aloe, a Vtuber who just debuted 1 stream and graduated before she came back after a hiatus 1 day
You know what? Someone *should* make a Red Archive, and instead of all girls, it's all boys and they all use swords and instead of halos, they get... uh... floating horns? Wings? Idk. Oh, and the player will be the female sensei to all of them, or something.
It's kinda different honestly. LL left on a good (great even) terms with YZ (he doesn't poach any key member from Mica at all), already have a vision on what kind of game he wanted to make (shown by Kaltsit design he made prior on Pixiv Fantasia and his artwork of 12F), and with an investor on board (LL and YM are acquitances given the history of how GFL is born). While on this one: the people that left leave on a bad terms trying to poach as many member as they can from BA dev teams, have no real vision/their vision is limited to what kind of BA they want instead (remember KV was called 'Red Archive' by many people), and have no investor on board from the beginning. Simply said, they are just not ready to make a company on their own.
@@kiarime Although technically we don't know how amicable the split of DOne staff and Nexon is. Some said it's actually pretty amicable and Kim Yongha was caught offguard when KV PV drops, while others said it's not as amicable as people thought.
Adding info on why it was such a big issue amongst kr, jp BA fans. Biggest issue was that the kv developers (isakusan, doremi, Mx2j, etc) have instigated the BA development team by falsely claiming that they (the dev team as with themselfs) were not getting paid enough money which was completely false. Isakusan was paid 600k USD Hwangsan was paid 660k USD While PD himself (Yongha) was only paid 480k USD and the BA representative (not sure if its ceo) was also only paid 520k USD And the dev teams where getting paid way above the 'average game dev' so yeah, they tried to completely sabotage the BA team by spreading false claims, tried to steal programmers and artist from BA, And on top of all that stolen dev team, they didnt even try to hide that they are from BA. And the whole futa thing happened because how stupid the reason of quitting the higher ups of the dev team (isakusan, mx2j, etc) was. Why did they quit -> they really wanted to make a futa game How did they steal the BA dev team -> the other devs (especially artists, since they didnt have any programmers) were a huge futa enjoyers too Why did they not have investors -> well investors dont like futa Retweeting nsfw arts on main twitter account -> yeah its a nsfw game And lastly fighting with 'swords' So the futa thing just kinda ties the whole situation pretty perfectly which is why it got such a huge popularity.
Isnt korea notorious for high CoL, especially in Seoul (where i assume BA devs work)? Getting 60k for senior level dev work does seem pretty low. Just because the republic of samsung has relatively low wages overall doesn't negate the dev's complaint that they're being underpaid. As for the futa thing, more power to them. If twink molestation simulator gets a shot at being a game, why shouldn't futa sword fighting?
@@anivicuno9473 first of all I'm sorry English isn't my first language so what does Col mean Second of all I made a mistake while changing krw into usd. They got paid 600k, yongha getting 480k etc. I'm sorry for this, just add one more 0 at the end. And third of all 'project kv is not a futa game' the kv developers were never meant to make a futa game. Its just an clever excuse that the 'users' where coming up with on why they would try to sabotage BA development.
If you really hated working for Nexon that much, all you had to do was be original and professional. Did Arknights teach you nothing? Absolutely baffling decisions all around from the KV team and completely deserved. Unfortunately it's still a nobody wins scenario, Blue Archive loses prominent team members and took a hit to its quality for the time being, and the KV passion project goes completely belly up. At least the "swordfighting" will live on... Those designs deserved better.
@@Sigismund697the founder of arknights was a part of team that made gfl, he left because he doesnt like the direction gfl taking, so he take w's design and made the game that you play today. he left the team on amicable terms btw
@@Sigismund697 Nothing much, just the origin story of how Arknights and Hypergryph came to be. Lowlight the producer of Arknights used to be the art director of Mica, the dev of Girls Frontline. He left Mica on good terms after having creative difference with YuZhong, the producer of said game. After Lowlight left Mica, he become one of the founder of Hypergryph and create Arknights with the help of investment from Yostar. Yostar is willing to invest on Lowlight due to Yostar's CEO, YaoMeng is an acquitance of Lowlight from the early days of the creation of Girls Frontline. People talked about Lowlight because it is somewhat similar to what this controversy is. Essentially, it's basically the art director/key member of a game dev left due to "creative difference". The difference is, Lowlight left on a peaceful terms and is very prepared on creating his own game company. Meanwhile, Dynamis One, the company behind Project KV left on a bad terms, trying to poach as many member of BA's dev while at the same time is very underprepared on creating a game company (they only have 1 programmer and no investor lmao) leading to the cancellation of said projects.
i have a theory that project kv is actually related to gojo since gojo use curse technique reversal red and lapse blue this could be red archive (project kv) and blue archive foreshadowing then Isakusan is going to reveal himself that is actually refered to as gegarious the nefarious, that's why he wanted to draw idol series!! with project kv getting cancelled, meaning that gojo is going to put a binding vow that sacrifice his curse technique reversal red to come back!! Lots of people are saying that the team got insane amount of work done in short period of time, but to me that does not seem bad at all? Isakusan is the one who has been gone from BA the shortest, but if he is only tasked as being the writer, and not the setting designer, then it is pretty reasonable that most of other stuff would have been done by other people earlier. mx2j and Doremi are contracted artists, and they have previously worked on other games while doing regular work at BA. I also don't buy the whole thing of artists intentionally sabotaging their work on BA. This stuff isn't made in vacuum, so the art did pass QA, and bunch of other people signed off on it too. ...Mind, I still think that similarities between Project KV and Blue Archive were way too much, and whole thing being cancelled doesn't come as surprise at all. But I think people are getting way too conspiracy theorist with this whole thing.

Can't say I'm a fan of their whole PR being BA bad and probably their choice to rush going to comiket was to "contest" and be smug against BA since they'll definitely attend. Rest in piss KV and isakusan, I feel very betrayed that you wrote an "adults being responsible" story only to do this. Talk about poetic.

@@Nilm_ these ideas were already put into the name for another company. I was sceptical when it first announce but the hype was unbearable by the so called PKV fans, they coping hard it was a gacha game w/o knowing it's just an eroge or visual novel. Also, blame Nexon because someone spouting lies about low payment. I laugh harder when they claimed it will be BA rival because "IsAkuSaN wRiTe ThE sToRy". Last but no least, futanari LMAO
@@avlants1685 The futanari bit was just a meme created out of spite by critics of the project, it's not something I would directly associate with KV as if they intended for that. It's true that people considerably jumped the gun talking about a potential gacha release when all we had was basic proof of concept-level promotional materials, but the R18 visual novel could have been 1) fun and 2) a way to fundraise for a bigger game. We'll never know now, though.
@@sekai2240 The only thing making gachas exist over visual novels is the profitability. Nikke for example would become a much better game without its mind numbing gameplay.
Dunno, if that would be simple VN, Dynamis wouldn't need to collect huge team of devs (by stealing them from Archive) and go to SHIFT UP for money. I'm sure there would be gacha elements in final product.
@@Artemas_16how is employee poaching stealing? It’s not like they’re being held at gun point. There obviously has to be some sort of discourse at Nexon, especially considering their track record, if so many people left
This just leaves a bitter taste. Whatever Project KV was going to be, them taking a lot of staff from BA to make a similar product was just weird. I was still curious enough to give them a chance but imploding the project so soon just makes things worse, why make BA suffer for something that didnt even release?
Because they're basically Kaya and the GSC members Kaya bribed. I think they overestimate their abilities: in their individual field, the DOne members ARE talented; it just seems like because they're good at those IMO they kind of discount the more rank and file members' contribution, especially the technical side (there are rumors that the reason DOne didn't manage to get any BA programmers is partly because there's some discrimination from the high-up creative members on the technical people), thus they think they can do a whole game themselves. Then reality crashed down on them.
the fact that they blatantly copied Blue Archive and didn't even try to hide it is what really did them in. Halos? check. School girls with weapons? check. School affiliations? check. even Genshin tried not to be a total BOTW clone.
@@ksfallenangel5770 Sigh... Disappointment. I am new to the community of BA, and encountering this ruins my mood. Dang it. I don't want to see the problems and change of the artstyle in BA Just lemme end the storyline jeez😭
Is it really just a copy though? It was made by a decent portion of the BA team so wouldn’t it be little more than spiritual successor? Like a Systemshock and Bioshock situation
@@CJ-wh7ikEvery single one of its differences were just inversions of BA concepts. There was almost nothing actually original about it. They even copied BA's prologue. The fact they were even as blatant as identical halo usage, despite being Buddhist themed instead of Christian themed, and BA's iconic sky rings reeks of hubris.
@@Nilm_The difference is that System Shock was basically a dead IP when Bioshock was conceptualized, much less released. BA is a current, thriving product, and there's very convincing evidence that the former devs sidelined BA content to work on Project KV while still employed at Nexon. Project WM would surely use a lot of orange in its motifs.
Eventually it all comes back to those Dalao's.
Isakusan and Doremi single-handedly recreate Attack on Titan ss2 ep 6 in real life.
A story about girls fighting with swords has nobody draw the expected way of sword fighting. Incredible.

2:40I mean as a potential investor would you really give your money on a product, not even released yet already hated by its target community?
Dynamis One needs to hire a proper PR team before their next project.
Problem is, they need to pay to all stuff they stole/recruited NOW, to continue existing. And without investors it highly likely impossible.
I still find it funny tbh. How in the world can you call yourself a game dev company if you have a complete lack of programmers within your roster.

Thank god it never truly saw the light-
(At first I was actually hoping to try it and when I figured out what was going on that completely shifted)
2:07 I didn't expect the sinesian cameo but it makes total sense in context
definitely alot happened during the whole debacle,
the docu pretty much tells how the whole project was negatively received from both JP and KR bros
the western fan base was pretty much clueless due to numerous factors, to the point that they are the only ones receiving the thing positively
the one part that's tricky to touch on was the dispute between Nexon and the ex BA devs
nothing concrete and substantial to form an opinion on
nonetheless, both parties (Nexon games and Dynamis One) did each other dirty
@@RevyaAeinsett that's the thing, there's no hard proof for either but I'd rather not make it that Nexon Games was the wholly innocent party here
whether something did happen or not, unless the key players talk, we're all just left speculating in the end

Or malicious mimicry.

close enough. welcome back Moist1noe 🎉
This is the greatest gacha game cancellation of all time
In the end both sides loses.
Mx2J has kinda been phoning it in, DoReMi's last character design was the dress PS68s, Paruru's taking over (and let's not forget that there's still kokosand, whoisshe and many others), music-wise it's all good, we'll see what the new guy in charge of the story has for us in a couple months.

few word that wanna say about Project KV: Chan-Chan-Bara Chanbara!
Chan-Bara-Bara Chanbara!
Samurai Sentai Shin-ken-ger
(even if it's VN, I would like to see it first)
also very unrelated but this reminds me of Mano Aloe, a Vtuber who just debuted 1 stream and graduated before she came back after a hiatus 1 day
You know what? Someone *should* make a Red Archive, and instead of all girls, it's all boys and they all use swords and instead of halos, they get... uh... floating horns? Wings? Idk. Oh, and the player will be the female sensei to all of them, or something.
The sword fighting would go crazy

@@arclight5934 thank you I didn't know
@@kiarime Although technically we don't know how amicable the split of DOne staff and Nexon is.
Isakusan was paid 600k USD
Hwangsan was paid 660k USD
While PD himself (Yongha) was only paid 480k USD and the
BA representative (not sure if its ceo) was also only paid 520k USD
And the dev teams where getting paid way above the 'average game dev' so yeah, they tried to completely sabotage the BA team by spreading false claims, tried to steal programmers and artist from BA, And on top of all that stolen dev team, they didnt even try to hide that they are from BA.
And the whole futa thing happened because how stupid the reason of quitting the higher ups of the dev team (isakusan, mx2j, etc) was.
Why did they quit -> they really wanted to make a futa game
How did they steal the BA dev team -> the other devs (especially artists, since they didnt have any programmers) were a huge futa enjoyers too
Why did they not have investors -> well investors dont like futa
Retweeting nsfw arts on main twitter account -> yeah its a nsfw game
And lastly fighting with 'swords'
So the futa thing just kinda ties the whole situation pretty perfectly which is why it got such a huge popularity.

Second of all I made a mistake while changing krw into usd.
Yeah, the thing i had seen the most about this was the Swordplay stuff, lmao. It could have had some potential.

I will be very happy if Project RX is going to be Turn-based Tactics ala XCOM. Be the game Project MX (Blue Archive) was originally intended to be.
