Damn, that butterfly has bad luck. First it almost get's stepped on by a group of soldiers, then it's flying through a place that's on fire, then Chrom and Lucina are trying to slice it... It's just not it's day is it?
i randomly came back to watch this and it still makes me feel like crying every time. it’s been 4-5 years since i last played this game and it brings back memories.
@@thatgui88 Legit they tried to make another Fates copy but has some Awakening aspects to it too. What's crazy is that the best selling Fire Emblem games ever were Awakening and Fates before Three Houses. It really sucks that Intelligent Systems thinks we need another Awakening and Fates. Yes, Awakening was awesome. Fates was terrible. Absolutely God awful. Only the gameplay was good and so IS focused only on the gameplay with Fire Emblem Engage. Story was just as incoherent as Fates.
The moment i first saw this I fell in love with this game. The moment I inserted the cartridge, started playing and saw this, I knew I was in for a great adventure. And, I was not let down. T'was a great adventure, from the moment Chrom awoke me from my nap to the moment I defeated Grima. And this cutscene is surprisingly able to summon up my experience in the best way possible. Fire Emblem awakening really is one of the best, most artistic games ever made. It is one of those games that really leaves a mark on the player.
This game remembers me from when i had my second kid... didn't have much free time so, i was always playing FE awakening on my 3ds. I have a couple of pictures with the baby in my arms and the 3ds in my hand haha, good times
1:14 Holy crap, I just realized that's grima Robin coming from the future?!! I never looked at it that closely? this is my favorite game and I've never noticed that.
Jessica Mutch yeah I saw that recently when I decided to replay awakening and it blew my mind because after playing the game for like a year i somehow never saw it.

That transition to the main theme still gives me chills to this game Gosh I love this game so much, even years later it’s still my favorite video game of all time
00:39 Lucina represents the butterfly here (her mask is a butterfly). The darkness chasing the singular light who is probably Chrome or Robin. Aiding it forward and trying to help it before it runs out of time. 0:57 its so amazing here when the music finally starts to sound uplifting. Her home, her family... they're all gone. Dead. But its still hopeful because shes running back to the past to fix everything.
i remember playing this for the first time and my wife is sumia and i always skip the intro until i married her then i saw her and chrom for the first time in the opening i was likes"........shit did i broke the continuity"
I first played the game when it was released so long ago... I never realised how good this intro actually is, until I replayed the game in 2020. Guys, this intro is sooo good!!! The way it actually starts off in the future when the zombies invade and then goes back into the present[of the game] is such an interesting way of framing the story! As if the future and Lucina were the actual starting point of the game. And then in the present Chrom is introduced as the main character... Also, that moment when Lucina runs towards the time gate without looking back to the burning ruins of her home... it's framed so damn good and the musical buildup that transitions so smoothly into the game's main theme just ends me everytime!!! Holy shit xD
This game started it all for me I have now played every game in the series and bough numerous consoles purely to play those games I love fire emblem it’s freaking amazing
This title screen is so EPIC, still to this point and there hasn't been another FE intro like this awesome. It always makes me shed a tear how beautiful it is, just one time travel could change fate despite the odds. HANDS DOWN AWAKENING, THE CONCLUSION OF THE CLASSIC AKANEIA'S HISTORY!!
To this day this intro gives me chills and changed my life awakening was my first fire emblem game and well now I own all of them so I think it did good XD
This intro holds up really well even today. I first played Awakening in 2020 after experiencing Three Houses, my first FE game. Still astoundingly good, and I am excited to experience more of the series' history.
The piano melody that kicks in as soon as the arrows start flying towards the beginning of the movie is absolutely invigorating..Kudos to Nintendo for another amazing Fire Emblem game, and another incredible soundtrack as well.
The game that saved the franchise and the starting point of the modern FE era. I had to come back to this after playing Engage. Been a fan since the GBA Fire Emblem and still thankful that Nintendo didn't cut FE series as a whole.
I love this cutscene because it recontextualizes everything for me. With the world ending and all the big fate-dragon stuff, this is really a story about a father and his daughter.
I absolutely love this game (just got it). Watching this it almost makes me cry over two scenes (Marth and Chrom fighting and when it shows Emmeryn) because when you get to those points in the story, you realize the significance, and with the Fire Emblem Theme, it's just absolutely incredible.
This means SO much more knowing that it was meant to be the last game of the franchise and, just like Lucina saved her world, Awakening saved the Fire Emblem series
To think that Nintendo was THIS CLOSE to canceling the entire Fire Emblem franchise altogether if Awakening hadn't gone on to become as successful as it thankfully was, scary thought. I love this series so very much.
Oh THANK YOU random internet person. The meaning of life is now clear to me. All because you're nitpicking at the title of a recorded video in which the words are pretty much accepted as interchangeable when referring to the opening of a game.
+rob fstar They aren't canon completely, but they are the closest pairing that is canon and hinted the most, even if the later support conversations were bland and tasteless. But in the end, pairings are canon to what you believe in. They made no hints regarding the parents of Owain, Inigo, and Severa. Though the noncanon meeting with SSB4 Lucina and Inigo might disprove Chrom x Olivia.
i get chills every time i watch this opening sequence. I regret getting this as my first game for the 3DS because I'm afraid no other game can come close to how amazing this game was ._.
The title was freaking "Lovebirds" in Japanese and North America. While that is still subjective since MaMU can marry Sumia and FeMU can marry Chrom... it's still shoved in your face. Sigurd and Diadora/Deidre all over again, except you can actually say "no" as the player. They're possible, but none of them are "canon". Ever.
I keep noticing something new every time I watch this. At 1:41, at the tip of the Falchion, you can just barely see the back of Validar. The opening really foreshadowed him to be an important villain. It really is disappointing how he was a poor man's Gharnef.

i'd like the game and the (anime in our dreams) to continue forever. this game deserves a sequel, like as if ike and chrom meet and end up getting in a war, i don't know
wow so much hate for Chrom X Sumia, I like them :c This was my first fire emblem game and I accidentally married Chrom with my avatar, I was mad hahaha then I played it again and married him with Sumia c: one of my friends was mad because in her game Chrom married a maid and her name was literally Maid XD
It was my first time playing fire emblem and my friend did not tell me Chrom will automaticlly get married after chapter 11 so thats how Chrom in my game got married haha
In my opinion Chrom and Sumia are the Canon pairing when Robin is male (and that Robin marries Lucina), but Chrom and Robin are the Canon when they are female. I guess its because the opening seems to show male Robin. plus that extra cutscene in the game that plays when Robin is Lucina's mom. Does anyone else agree?
Joie Russell There are many loopholes to Robin being Lucina's mom. Two that come to mind are that the Japanese translations were changed for Morgan to cover his fear of bugs in that support contradicting his love of bugs. But of course self insert ships override anything else. Every piece of media outside of the game point to Robin never marrying tbh.
0:28- Was it the future or story of Chrom's dad? I wonder if Chrom's dad was truly evil at heart? What lies or threats had driven him on this march so long from his home, and whether he would have rather stayed there in peace? (i know it's from Sam (novel) and Faramir (film), but it kinda fit in with the plot's war).
wait wtf crom married sumina cannon wise ???? I always thought it was crom and female robin together lmao btw yes I just beat the game rewatcjed the opening and said out loud wtf was that Sumina o.O
I’d like to imagine that the creators made it relatively unclear who is the canonical wife. The intro had Sumia, but the manga made Chrome marry that random village maiden. I’d like to imagine it’s Chrom and female Robin that is canon, but it is still unclear

ok, this was piss me off, why would the game show chrom and sumia together in the opening while chrom could marry 4 other people? should have kept it a mystery.
Because they wanted to? You need to understand the difference between east and west here. Hinting at a canon pairing is something they prefer in Japan, no matter how vocal a minority may seem. In the west, it is the preference of choice. This game was developed in Japan. Deal with it. It's like one in a Dragon Quest game... where there was the choice between two girls for the main character, and one was the more "canon" choice. Did you know it was Sumia when you first saw it? I mean it's fast and doesn't give a very good look at anything other than Chrom and a baby. I mean you realize it now but that could be brown haired Suzie or something. Though I guess your opinion is fine as well.
shadowofchaos725 I disagree. Since the Avatar can be customized, there's no fixed appearance for her/him. That's probably why they opt to use fixed characters for the animations.
1:24 yeah this right here proves that Sumia is chrom’s canon wife. In other words, GET OVER CHROBIN SHIPPERS!!! That ship is way too cliche’d… unless it involves male Robin, then I might get on board with it. Other than that, Chromia all the way!!!
