I can’t be happier to see this come about, this is very personal to me. In 7th grade I got diagnosed with very severe ulcerative colitis and ended up having to have my entire colon taken out my sophomore year of high school due to the severity and the risk of colon cancer. I then had a colostomy bag from sophomore year to senior year of high school; the shittiest time of your life to have one, pun intended lol. I was always very active and otherwise healthy, played 3 sports, spent a lot of time out doors and exercising.
I hope they can make drastic changes here, nobody deserves to deal with IBD/Colon cancer.

My wife who grew up outside of the United States. Came here, and within a few years of living here full-time. Developed adverse reactions to gluten and major hormone imbalances. Prior to coming here she had none of these problems and could eat anything that she wanted. I would’ve never believed any of it if I hadn’t witnessed it firsthand. Then I started looking into it and realized that our entire food system is fucked. It gives me at least some hope that RFK is going to get a chance to fix these things. there’s going to be ridiculous amounts of opposition to it, because all of the pharmaceutical and medical companies are in on it, they make hundreds of millions of dollars selling Band-Aids for the real problems.

The scary part is when you start looking at all the ingredient labels at the grocery store and realize just about everything in a box or bag in the middle of the store has these things in them. Best advice. Shop on the outside walls of the grocery store only. This is where all the real food is. Most things in the middles, besides maybe canned goods, has preservatives, dyes, sweeteners, and bad things.

BHT can be deadly to some people. I was having some different skin issues in my 20s . I went to a naturopathic dr & he did food sensitivity testing on me. I had a reaction to BHT, which at the time I had never heard of. It actually it an an antioxidant to preserve food. Specifically it preserves food with fats in them. It is in the oils of fast foods, it is in crackers , cereals ,etc. I have had to read ingredients since then & avoid it as much as possible. . A more expensive version is vitamin E . I noticed Cheerios now pulled out BHT and some of the crackers have pulled it out and started using vitamin E. It’s basically a cheap food preservative. It’s been pulled off the market in most other countries because it’s a known carcinogen. I think this doctor probably saved me from getting cancer from this because I would’ve had no idea that my body was sensitive to it. Other people may be able to eat it and it might not have an effect but I cannot go near the stuff. I found out it was in a lot of Lotions and suntan oils and soaps that I was using. That was why my skin was getting these different blisters on them. And I know this test wasn’t bullshit because I avoided the five things I was supposed to avoid for about a month and then you’re supposed to do a challenge one thing at a time to see if your body resets and you could tolerate it. Well, I had a bag of Orville Redenbacher, Fat, free, popcorn, and I didn’t realize it had that BHT preservative in it and I broke out in hives all over my body. So this stuff is a real danger and most people have no idea what it even is , as I wouldn’t have known what it was either with out that food sensitivity test. I only did a lot of research after I was told to avoid it. I sure am hoping a lot of these chemicals are pulled from the market to save the poor people that have no idea the harm it could be causing them.

In it, it said red dye was a factor in hyperactivity in young kids leading to short attention[ we now call adhd]. The textbooks is used in the 2000s did not have anything related to foods or additives as a factor in hyperactivity or attention issues. Proof the food industry has bought and paid for the education system.

  • @auntlynnonline6206

I've been watching this unfold my entire life. I think we 'tail-end Boomers' (I was born in 1962) were the last group of Americans who grew up without all of the chemicals in our food. I remember the young people in the 70s really advocating for 'natural foods,' and being absolutely slandered as 'Dirty, stupid, tree-hugging Hippies' by people on television. Even as a kid, I thought 'Wait. How could they be that wrong about this? Doesn't it make sense to eat LESS artificial ingredients, not more?' It is my opinion (I am not a doctor) that most of the rampant childhood diseases and conditions we see now are due to poor food quality and environmental toxins. When I was in public school in New Jersey, there was ONE kid in my school who had diabetes. There were NO kids who presented with noticeable autism or Aspergers. Yes, I do believe our food system has been weaponized against us. Kevin, if you really want to have fun with this 'Red Dye' project - look at the history of the Maraschino Cherry industry. They've known for DECADES that Red dye #40 caused cancer, but the industry said "If you force us to change that ingredient, we'll go out of business." And, it was decided to keep #40 'legal.' I'm a capitalist. However, 'capitalism without regard to anything else' has brought us to a dark chapter in our history.
