Man the memories of this place. It's a shame that kids today don't have something like this to go to anymore like we did back in the day. I loved Kings Castleland. Even when I go to Stop & Shop I still remember how the park used to look back in the 80's. Thanks for uploading this!
Thanks so much for commenting on your visit to the park. We have had such great pleasures in our retirement, hearing from folks like yourself. clarence & paula Whitney
How I loved King's Castle Land! Of course, everyone remembers the fire breathing dragon with the burnt face, but I think I adored that toy store the most! It was absolutely the BEST toy store around - a dream for little kids! The park was a wonderful part of my childhood. Thanks for posting this!
I have so many fond memories of King's Castle Land as a child in the early 1980s. I loved the knight that talked and the fire breathing dragons. My favorite ride was the Tilt O Whirl. Thank you Mr. Whitney for the memories!! God bless the Whitney family!
I love that this video exists. I grew up with King's Castle Land; there are still photos of my sister and I there on some family Christmas ornaments. My grandparents still live in Whitman, and every time I drive to their house and pass the Stop & Shop, I lament the loss of this wonderful place. Thank you so much, Clarence and Paula, for sharing this with us. ❤️
Hi there! Wow! This was my favorite place in the world when I was little! The lion head bubbler, talking into it to get a drink... the dragon! I will always remember the dragon and how we would hope and hope that it would breath fire as we went by in the train! Thank you so much for the wonderful memories! I'm about to turn 50, and I'll always remember Kings castle land!
It was definitely mine too. It was my favorite ride there. Strangely enough my dad wanted to buy the dragon coaster and put it in our backyard when they closed down... that is until he saw the price tag and realized he couldn't afford it, lol.
didnt it seem so much bigger? i remember seeing another one of them later in life and thinking " oh, a kids rollercoaster....". in my head it was fairly big/fast
Lots of great memories here! Loved it so much as a kid and I would drive my parents nuts trying to get them to take me. I wish there were more local smaller parks like this around today.
Convinced my folks to buy me a few toys in your store circa 1974 thank you for the great memories, my folks would take us here on the weekends from New Bedford
I have so many amazing memories of going to Kings Castle Land with my dad. I remember the toy store fondly as well! Really miss it. Such a great place.
Some of my favorite memories and the excitement of going to King's Castle for birthdays and spending Christmas cash in the early to mid 70s. Moved cross country many years ago and I still think of that place fondly from time to time.
Thank you Clarence and Paula. You have opened a floodgate of memories! In '83/'84, my Doves Nest preschool & kindergarten classes in Rockland brought a group of us kiddies here for a field trip. Most prominent memories are the squirting alligator, giant shoe, talking knight, and the fallen giant. It was a surreal place, and great fun to climb about. Your passion and gratitude is obvious in your smile. I'm sure thousands of kids owe it to you for the impression your park made! Best wishes.
I went to King's Castleland many times as a child in the 70s and 80s. I miss those commercials touting the fire-breathing dragon! Thanks for the memories :)
Wow what memories! I lived in the New Bedford area. We had nearby Lincoln Park, and we would also travel to Kings Castle in Witman with my wife and 2 kids back in the 70's. It was a great little park. Loved the fire breathing dragon. Everyone would be able to see it as you drove by. Those were the days. Glad that I was able to find this video and relive those days. Whatever happened to those days where families could spend time together and it was mostly affordable to all.
Thank you for the video! I had some great childhood memories coming here as I was 8 when the park closed. I think fondly on it every time I drive by the Stop & Shop!
One of my earliest memories is when i was 4 years old in the early 90s. My father, sister and I were at Kings Castle Land, on the ferris wheel to be exact, when ominous clouds came rolling in and a surprise lightning storm suddenly inundated the area. They evacuated the park, but somehow we were missed up atop the ferris wheel. So we sat out the entire storm at the very top of the ride. My father and sister were horrified. Me being four years old and knowing no better thought it was the coolest thing 😅 Great memories! Oh how i miss places like this and Welcome Farm in Weymouth. Those quaint attractions are few and far between nowadays.
Thanks so much for this amazing park... I have some many great child hood memories from the 80s. I remember saving all of my allowance just for the toy store!!! :)
growing up looking at the fire breathing dragon sticking its head over the castle wall what is a huge highlight of my childhood I was quite young so I didn't get to experience the park at an older age but I did go when I was quite young. It's sad to see that it's just another stop and shop
Just had a major flashback after typing a comment...Grab Bags...right up front...you never knew what would be inside...that drove me crazy as like a 6 year old in the early 70s, wanting so bad to tear into it, but having to wait that whole long long (about 15 minutes) ride home lol
I grew up in VT but I went there a few times as a kid during the 80s as my grandparents and cousins lived in Whitman. Haven't been back to Whitman since 2002. I'll agree with everyone else commenting below that my young kids would love this place.
my god I love the king castle my dad took me there every mouth. on sat. I wish it was still there. I live in Washington seattle. . I am so happy to watch the video thank you so much.
Wow great memory of coming here back in the late 70's. We would visit here every couple weeks in the summer. Parents would buy fresh milk and eggs over at Sun Rea Lea farms, go to Peaceful meadows for ice cream or go to Kings Castle! Yes the toy store I remember had a amazing Lego section in those days than anyone!
PS I would go any chance I get lol .birthday party's school trips or with the family .Great times! So glad u posted this video so I can show my kids what I loved so much .hahaha
Only lived in MA for the first 6 years of my life (West Bridgewater) - used to love going to King's Castle... was the best thing to do as a kid back in the late 80's early 90's.
@@TheKitchenerLeslie if I’m remembering correctly I did go to Macdonald for one year (kindergarten, 91-92), and I went to a preschool class that I believe was near the interstate during 90-91. I lived on Walnut Street, lived right across from the Brother family, played with Matthew and Jarred a good bit.
@@TheKitchenerLeslie where about did you live or who were you kin to? Kings Castle must’ve been a thing for quite a while before I was born if there’s some years between us lol.
This place was the BEST my dad used to take us there all the time!! We made him a coin in the machine that says I love Dad and he STILL has it! The dragon and the monkey cage where my favorites ❤ I also fell for your little april fools trick this morning on facebook lol
I loved this place as a kid! The last time I went I almost died lol I want on the wipeout kind of ride and obviously I was too small because the restraint did nothing and I kept slipping down. All I remember is my aunt screaming to stop the ride and holding me from flying out! Clearly ride restrictions back then weren’t as strict as they are now. Even still I have the fondest memories at the park. Going through all the little houses!
I am 46 now, but I remember going to King's Castle Land many times with my family in the 70's and 80's. Loved it. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. Clarence, is that you with the moustache in the video featured in the background?
