This perfect for bedroom DJs and small bar and clubs. Almost all clubs have a main mixer that the DJ plugs into, so RCA will work fine. This controller works with the major 3 softwares and it's cheap. Two of these is cheaper than 2 CDJs, so for clubs spending $1200 and having a backup is a win. Any DJ can use this for 2 to 4 hours and be fine. Great review

Don't think you could have said it better. I want a dedicated 4 channel it's too much hassle on a 2channel mixer with 4 deck capeablity

Good video! I was looking at this controller because my mixer broke and I would like to get into mixing with three or four decks and the price seemed more affordable as a first investment into the dj controller realm. But after watching this video and a previous one with all of the flaws it has, it seems like the best part of the whole controller is the jog wheels.

You brought up some very good points, I'm currently in the middle of making up my mind whether I should buy it or not. My budget is a big factor but I like the spinning red light track position on the jog wheels, I also like the effects knob. That said, a lot of people are saying that it's not that great with Serato. That's too bad because that is the software I currently know and use. I wish they had a controller with motorized jog wheels at this price or lower. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that. And also, about the sync button and all the work the controller does for the DJ, I myself am disabled and I depend on these buttons and so-called gimmicks to help me with my creativity. A lot of us disabled guys enjoy the sync button and scratch affects and so forth. That's the thing to remember about what this is good for. So there's a little something in this mixer for everyone you can decide to use these features or you can just not use them, but pioneer should never take away these features because I and a few other guys I know depend on these. It makes it fun and easy and accessible for us to use. Thank you for the video✌️✅

Great vid.. I definitely agree with you on the RCA’s.. this controller would sound much better with XLR’s or 1/4” connectors.. I did try the Flx6 at Sam Ash and was not happy with the feeling.. loved the size of the jog wheels but they felt stiff.. there was a lot going on and it would have taken me more than the 5 minutes they gave us to try it out.. I’m sticking with my old reliable SR2 for now (1000SRT on the horizon)

I have this controller. I am a bedroom DJ. And you are right. I was trying to save for the DDJ 1000. But that is way hard when other priorities take over unfortunately. Merge FX and Jog cutter for me is not something I can adjust to. At least at the moment. I tried them both, and it was a train wreck lol. Maybe Merge FX once in a while in the future, but definitely not the jog cutter. I'm not really a scratch dj and if I wanted to scratch, I would do it the proper way. The jog wheel and 4 channels is what sold me. Plus the bonus was that I now have to full license software. That serato dj came with many expansion packs. So now I have the option to go to either software. If I was a mobile dj, I probably would of gotten something with an XLR output. I do wish the pads where RGB. But I have an xp1 and I can use those. But all in all, thanks for your honest option.

Love the review thank you. I'm looking to purchase this to play at a cigar lounge & a bar/resteraunt because my NS7III IS VERY HEAVY !& the promoters are not paying that much at all i just want something that is light & very easy to carry without having to call an Uber. Although im not that hyped about the jog wheels i believe i can manage them , i'm more of a blend & mix dj not so much a scratch dj.

Mr. Terry. I am so glad that I chose to purchase the DDJ-1000. I own CDJ-850s but only played with USB sticks as I never bought the subscription to Rekordbox. My only concern is that the 1000 is not stand alone so I will have to use my computer which I think is going to be a sharp learning curve. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for the videos!

  • @phfj123

Definitely beginner to strong intermediate level. It looks good and professional, comes with the basics with some bells and whistles. I use to spin back in the day on turntables and wax. I stopped when I joined the military then all the music became digital. I found about 90% of all my disco, house, and underground plus new cuts online. So this DJ controller is your mixer, 4 turntables, EQ, and Tape deck in 1 package. All ya need is headphones, a receiver/amp and speakers. Of course a computer to control, organize, adjust and monitor the music and sound.

Thanks for the review. I almost considered this controller but I get the impression it is not really for a Serato user. I find for that reason it's over priced. It's over $800.00 here in Canada. I have the DDJ SB3 but I want to upgrade. I was hoping some new controllers would drop this month or at least announced but the Rane 1 is the only controller I see reviews for. As awesome as it, the cost is $2000.00 here in Canada plus I already have a turntables and a mixer set up because I am from the vinyl days. I still DJ from time to time but I am mostly a basement DJ so I don't want to spend alot. I am confused what controller to buy. Someone recommended the DDJ SRT but I don't want to spend $1800.00 on something just for a hobby and will never make money off it. Any controller suggestions for a Serato user?

  • @brandonzadel3465
    @brandonzadel3465 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I just bought this controller yesterday for 2 reasons. 1: Windows bricked my ddj-400 and left me with nothing. 2: If I'm going to get another controller, it's going to be an upgrade. Would I love a v-10 with 4 CDJs? Absolutely. How about an XDJ-XZ? Of course, but I don't have an extra $2-7000 lying around at the moment. Jog cutter sounds cool and so does MergeFX, but I bought it specifically for the 4 channels and CDJ sized platters. It's coming tomorrow, but I think for someone like me, it's going to be a definite upgrade from the 400 and gives me more of an incentive in the future to buy an XZ or a 1000 if I want to stick with a controller. I think it also gives me a pretty good idea of the sheer size of some of these other controllers and setups. The 400 was big when I got it, but it's funny how small it gets after about 2 years of using it.

I'm looking for my first dj controller. Buying Ddj 400 was my plan. But seeing this one made me reconsider. My vision is to learn to dj and when the time is right, start making videos/streams. The problem I see with ddj 400 is it's size, for a guy of my size it looks very unattractive. To start with an ddj800 would seem to me a bit wrong in many ways. I have couple of questions…
I upgraded from SB3 to FLX6 but honestly I feel more confident so far on SB3, I was very excited that I can have 2 outputs but for some reason the booth output didn’t work at the same time with the master out. So is it either or?? Am I doing something wrong? Is it related to the software? I’m using virtual DJ.
Also I downloaded the rekordbox but then I realized that I will be loosing all my hot cues saved on virtual DJ. Is there anyway to transfer this to rekordbox?
Lastly, I feel the jogwheel here in flx6 is a bit less sensitive than sb3. When I wanna set an accurate hot cue, it doesn’t allow me to move smoothly and it jumps over the waveform not in milliseconds.
    Thanks for ur support always❤

I stepped up from the SB3 to this FLX because of the dual software option and the fantastic jog wheels. Plus I’m just transitioning from online to smaller in-person gigs later this year that do not require the more serious, professional inputs and outputs such as outdoor boot camps, restaurants, small retail etc... I plan to use this FLX for about 9 months to one year and sell it to buy a Pioneer 1000 or similar. I would have purchased the Roland 505 but I can’t find it anywhere in person in the Bay Area and during pandemic, I don’t trust shipping services. The Denon MC4000 has all the professional ins and outs but looks dated and again, no local retail has one here in Silicon Valley. Overall there just isn’t a lot to choose between the $250 and $700.

I never DJ’d in my life and as I was comparing I chose this one because it would give me the “feel” of a full size unit if all went well, but also show me the basics. At half the price of the DDJ 1000 I thought this was a more than good option for someone starting out with all of the creative taste to have a fighting chance at potentially getting gigs. I still say the FLX6 should not be called a mid-level controller. The major reason is you mentioned. No XLR connection. My DDJ800 has both Master RCA and XLR. I have the option of plugging it into the main mixer or directly into a PA system. The FLX6 has one which means your users will be limited. The merger FX is a bad idea. I don't see the point of it and it will confuse a DJ who wants to use a Pro DJ gear. As I said in other videos, the FLX6 is an oversize entry-level controller with 4 channels. My DDJ 800 has 2 channels but it is also the little brother to the DDJ 1000.

The GEAR dosen't make the DJ, or do the DJing. If you own a mixer, great. As you should. Also, an EXTERNAL MIXER is FAR more beneficial. Even the "PRO" gear has their pitfalls. Most DJ's don't work clubs or big venues, but if they do, they can ABSOLUTELY SHRED with an ENTRY LEVEL controller. It has been done SEVERAL TIMES and will continue. DJ GEAR is about DECKS, CHANNELS and circumstantial PREFERENCE. The bells and whistles help, but DO NOT DEFINE a DJ. The DJ has to DJ. GREAT REVIEW. This affordable 4 CHANNEL CONTROLLER is AWESOME for what it offers.

It's now also natively supported in Virtual DJ, so you have more options if you don't like the implementation in RB or Serato
But I still think this controller is a bit gimmick'y and over-priced

People who complaining about the price forget that the DDJ 1000 SRT costs $100 more than the vanilla version and that's because of the Serato license. Pioneer still has to pay Serato for every controller that ships with the software.

Sweetwater is telling me this is a entry level product. I asked why it was not selling in the ranges of the DDJ200, DDJ400, DDJ-sb3. This is more then 2-3x the price of them and only a few 100 away from the DDJ1000
      Stay away from this toy.

Other than the scratch effects I'd rather by an ddj800 but I own a ddj400 in which I started with and an ddj1000 this flx6 seems over priced and should like you said be priced lower maybe above the ddj400 but way under the ddj800

    • @shroud4269
      @shroud4269 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The flex 6 is actually perfect, however the 800 is overall a better controller in all regards
Having a much better mixer section + nice things like in-jog displays might outweight having 4 channels altogether + lower build quality & lesser mixer section and effects

    Respect.
Although you say plenty of bone headed stuff, I have to respect your opinion.
Simply, this is the ONLY 4 CHANNEL, PIONEER controllers, which is a FAWKIN monster, IF and only IF, you KNOW how to use it.
You called this an “intermediate” controller. Fair.
Your knowledge of the controller, is just like your stratching, abysmal. So, your opinion of the controller… eh.
The controller doesn’t have XLR outputs… an external mixer does simpleton.
    I can go on…
But I will respect your opinion.
If your wondering, yes, I own the controller.
    And I’m dope with it.
Keep in mind, the device doesn’t DJ,
    The DJ, DJ’s.

Feel free to not watch my videos. Don’t say you respect my opinion and proceed to talk thrash about me. There are plenty of other TH-camrs that will take it, I won’t.

@@ClevelandTerry well here's the deal, your channel is public. Plenty of your provided info about this controller is very mis informed. Its criticism. Being sensitive to criticism, that a personal problem.
There is all respect to you from myself, regardless of my feedback.
I appreciate all of your content, yet, I'm not a yes man.
You don't have to take anything, but when your wrong, your wrong, by a long shot. Keep inspiring, which you have inspired myself.
I will continue to watch your channel, as well as receive your input.
You are clearly passionate about the craft, that's commendable.

Pretty disrespectful comment. For someone who is “dope” with this controller, you should probably consider publishing content on TH-cam with it instead of hiding behind your pelican thumbnail talking shit without any receipts. It might even get you a bit of respect. 🤷‍♂️
