It’s been awesome seeing Zac Efron’s career blossom organically. I was the target demographic for High School Musical when that came out, and even then I always thought he had potential for the future, easily the most of any of the cast. When the Hairspray remake came out around the same time and he was able to transform into and separate Link Larkin from Troy in HSM, I knew his efforts to expand his range deserved some respect. Now look at our boy! 😭
I can relate to Korey regarding Oppenheimer. I wasn’t feeling it but I respect it. Maybe a later viewing will change my opinion seeing as i didn’t like No Country For Old Men at first and now it’s one of my favorite films of all time. With that being said as soon as I saw the clip from Godzilla Minus One I got goosebumps!
Godzilla Minus One was a surprise. I know it was going to make some money, but not that much. Happy for Godzilla and Toho. Also surprised how M3GAN did well despite some including myself feeling that this movie is not going to do well. I was proven wrong.
Dungeons and Dragons was my number 3 best movie of the year. How the hell can anyone say it's bad? The creativity, the storytelling, the comedy, the characters were all fantastic. I'm someone who is usually not a big fan of fantasy movies, but this movie exceeded my expectations. I would say Julian has shit taste in movies, but he did rate my number 1 Poor Things better than sex, which I agree.
I think I loved it because it was so unexpected. I literally watched it because my husband put it on during one of those free streaming weekends , and I was shocked by how much fun I had. But If you heard how great it is, you might be less impressed.
To me hearing why Julian put it as one of his worst movies came off as him being bitter so many people liked it and he didn't. He even told Martin he put it on his Top 10 worst list BECAUSE so many people had it on their best of the year lists. I agree, I get that the movie wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea and there's nothing wrong with not liking it, but to say it's one of the worst movies of the year is a pretty huge stretch.
Eh, Dungeons and Dragons was ok I guess. I liked it a lot when I watched it, but mostly because it was nice to finally watch a DND movie that wasn't pathetic. It's amazing how good a franchise movie can feel when they've set the bar on the floor.
My Top 10 Best Movies of the Year: 10. Past Lives - An emotional look at the complications of love and longing with excellent performances, a fantastic directorial debut from Celine Song 9. Oppenheimer- A little low on my list compare to most people, and while I do have some quibbles with it (Nolan still doesn’t know how to write women 😆), it is Nolan’s best film in years and his magnum opus. Cillian Murphy and RDJ were outstanding 8. Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret- The most underrated movie of the year. Funny, honest, and insightful coming of age of story. Rachel McAdams should get more love this awards season and between this & Edge of Seventeen, Kelly Fremon Craig shows that she understand the youth more than any director. 7. John Wick: Chapter 4 - For as much as I liked Dead Reckoning, John Wick destroys it in every way. A masterclass in action & stunts, the cinematography is immaculate, and say what you want about Keanu Reeves’ line delivery, when it comes to physicality, he understood the assignment. Probably the best John Wick yet. 6. Barbie - If you told me that a Barbie would make my Top 10, I would’ve laughed, but similar to how I felt when The Lego Movie came out, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I had fun but I emotionally connected with it, especially in terms of one of the themes being finding your purpose. Greta Gerwig is able to balance being unabashedly silly with melancholic and emotional moments very well, it’s smart and clever even if it’s not the most subtle, and Margot Robbie & in particular Ryan Gosling are perfect casting. He better perform I’m Just Ken at the Oscars or I’m rioting. And I hope Hollywood don’t take the wrong lessons from its success but they probably will 😆 5. The Iron Claw - An emotional rollercoaster about not just wrestling, but self pressure, living up to expectations, and brotherhood in the Von Erich family. Another film that I see ain’t getting enough awards love, especially Zac Efron, it’s his best performance easily. Jeremy Allen White is also great in his 3rd role with him being in an unstable family 😆. The last scene with Efron and his sons got me man. 4. The Holdovers - One of Alexander Payne’s best and a new modern Christmas classic. Paul Giamatti gives my favorite performance of the year, Dominic Sessa is fantastic in his first, Da’Vine Joy Randolph is phenomenal, especially the party scene. It’s one of those movies that you wanna give a big hug to. Plus it has now one of my favorite burns in movie history. 3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 - A rousing, hilarious, emotional conclusion to, in my opinion, the best trilogy/franchise in the MCU and made me cry like a bitch. If this proves anything, it’s 2 things: 1. This, alongside Loki S2, shows that despite the slump Marvel has been in, with a few exceptions, and how it’s become cool to bag on them lately, shows that they’re still capable of making really good stuff when they put in the effort to do so, focusing more on the story and characters rather than just setting up what’s to come in the universe, and 2. When it comes to comic book movies, James Gunn doesn’t miss! And he ended with the best one. Also Bradley Cooper gave a better performance in this than he did in Maestro. 2. Poor Thing - The weirdest and horniest movie of the year, but also hysterical and gorgeous to look at. Emma Stone completely owns that role and is an absolute queen and Mark Ruffalo was a complete joy whenever he came on. Another that’s a great look at self discovery, kind of served as a weird companion to Barbie. Yorgos Lathimos can be hit or miss for me, but this is his best movie by far. 1. Spider Man: Across the Spiderverse - I don’t think I need to repeat what everyone else said. While I still slightly prefer Into the Spiderverse, this is easily the best superhero film of the year and best animated film for me. And it goes to show that in a time where people are touting “superhero fatigue” when you look at this and Guardians 3, and some of the stuff on TV like The Boys, Invincible, and Loki, there’s still life left in the genre and if you want audiences to stop whining about it, just make more good shit like this. And I’m hyped as fuck for Beyond, though they can take their time knowing what the animators went through with this one. Honorable Mentions: Godzilla: Minus One, They Cloned Tyrone, Talk to Me, Blackberry, Killers of the Flower Moon, A Thousand and One, Priscilla, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem, Sanctuary, The Killer, Society of the Snow, Suzume, Anatomy of a Fall, When Evil Lurks, How to Blow Up a Pipeline, Air, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1
I also thought of the Lego Movie when watching Barbie. A movie based on a toy has no right being this clever. I saw Barbie because of the hype and I was very surprised how much I liked it. It was the funniest movie I’ve seen in a while.
You got to love that Mutant Mayhem film. The hybrid use of 2D and 3D animation, the expertly edited action scenes, the character development and the use of the word 'Gogurt'.
If you have not seen it, BlackBerry is probably the most underrated film of the year. I highly recommend that film. Stars Jay Barachel, Glenn Howerton, Cary Elwes, and Michael Ironside.
Despite the strikes, the CBM fatigue, and the Disney debacle, 2023 was definitely a good year for movies, so much so that I really struggled to bump out of my top ten list titles like 'Saltburn', 'Tetris' and 'Fallen Leaves'. Besides, there were movies that even when they had a wide release in 2023 were officially premiered in 2022, like 'M3GAN' and 'Talk to Me'. Even so, I liked the way my top ten list ended up. 10. Blackberry 9. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor among thieves 8. Killers of the Flower Moon 7. Past Lives 6. The Covenant 5. The Boy and The Heron 4. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 3. Oppenheimer 2. Radical 1. Godzilla Minus One I still have not seen 'Poor Things', 'Anatomy of a Fall', 'The Zone of Interest', 'The Holdovers', 'May December', 'The Iron Claw' and many others, but as I said, it still was a great year and based on your reviews and insights, 2024 will be awesome too.
This film wasn’t in theaters, but it has to be said “the Venture bros radiant is the blood of the baboon heart” is my third favorite movie of 2023. While it has a hard time wrapping up all the loose ends of the venture bros cartoon while leaving some questions behind, I’m happy it got some kind of an ending.
Cool list, mine are… 10. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre 9. The Iron Claw 8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 7. Killers of the Flower Moon 6. The Holdovers 5. Godzilla Minus One 4. John Wick Chapter 4 3. Air 2. Bottoms 1. Oppenheimer Honorable Mentions: Evil Dead Rises, Astroid City, Thanksgiving, Scream VI, Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, Venture Bros.: Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Favorite movie of 2023 1. The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2. Fool's Paradise 3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 4. American fiction. 5. Asteroid City 6. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 7. Poor Things
I still need to see Poor Things. It looks so weird, but I'm fascinated on how it looks. I did see Killers of the Flower Moon very recently, and while I do think it's a little bit longer than it needed to be, it shows that Scorsese is still a master of the cinematic craft. Lily Gladstone's performance is the heart and soul of the movie.
Killers would’ve made my Top 10, but I wished it was more from Molly’s perspective than Leo’s character for it to hit harder for me, but it’s still a very good movie
Oppenheimer is my #1. Just from a craft and filmmaking perspective, I don’t think anything else comes close this year. Honorable mentions in no order: Barbie D&D Across the Spiderverse The Creator Godzilla Minus One The Killer Saltburn Killers of the Flower Moon M:I Dead Reckoning
I'm wearing beats ear buds and when he reviews oppenheimer I almost jumped out of my chair at the sound of a bomb... before corey says something and I realize it's not happening just outside my house😮 sheesh!
I loved M3gan. Pure entertainment. Nothing too big, but certainly a great watch. I'm hopping they make a sequel of this because I'm already picturing how crazy it could get.
Still so many movies I have yet to watch this year. For me Oppenheimer, John Wick 4 and Spider-Verse are just so good. To think we could've also had Dune 2 this year as well. Kind of glad it got delayed so that Oppenheimer can get all the attention. I am hoping this is Nolan's year and he finally gets it.
The Holdovers have made plenty of people’s best lists. It’s in my Top 5. Martin said it’s his honorable mentions because he bumped it out for Godzilla and Korey hasn’t seen it yet.
Im actually surprised that no one had Saltburn on their list. Just watched it last night and thought it was fantastic. Especially Barry Keoghan. His level of commitment to the role is nuts
@ameliacraiig4193 There are 2 or 3 gross out scenes, but they are not really graphic necessarily. It's just the implications of what he is doing that is gross
1. Across the Spiderverse Hands down cemented itself as the greatest and game changing animated film series of the past decade. Films like Puss in Boots The Last Wish and series like Arcane or Blue Eye Samurai being Influenced by this while Disney has done nothing to change their formula in the wake of not only this but Anime blowing up over The past decade shows you this style is not a fluke. The most beautiful animated Movie and maybe the most beautiful movie of the year. And that cliffhanger? Oh you know people are gonna see Number 3. 2. Godzilla Minus One Legitimately the most emotionally fueled Film of the year for me. Everytime I witness the climax of this film I'm in tears. The music is beautiful and I think this movies message is far better than shin Godzilla. Compared to the current American versions we have it's like Comparing the Original Jaws to the Silly Showa Era Godzilla Films. 3. John wick 4. Keanu Reeves is 4/4 and Im so happy to see Keanu has two era defining action classics to define 2 entire decades with Matrix and John Wick going down as the films people remember him by when he passes away. Chad stahleski's directing and visual style when it comes to color is legitimately Beautiful, possibly the most beautiful live action film of the year and I cannot wait for his Live Action Ghost of Tsushima Adaptation. 4. Blackberry. I expected it to be more in the Vein of Wolf of Wall Street, where a greedy businessman suckers out a Phone developer. But it actually was much more nicer than I was expecting. Alot of moments where I'd expect a Massive betrayal or something to happen and it gets resolved a little bit less intensely. And it was a great way to experience the rise and fall of Product during a period in time that I remember.
Was not expexting "No One Will Save You" to make this list. A film im considering watching again. And, pondering about it, felt like it would've made a great episode for the proposed Red Mirror. Elements of a Thinking Man's Sci Fi.
My top 10. 1. Oppenheimer. 2. guardians of the Galaxy, volume three. 3. Iron Claw 4. The flower moon. 5. Spider-Man into the spider verse. 6. Air 7. John Wick 8. Barbie. 9. Creed 3 10. Mission impossible dead reckoning.
10. The Holdovers 9. Migration 8. The City 7. Barbie 6. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 5. Spiderman: Across the Spider Verse 4. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 3. May December 2. John Wick: Chaper 4 1. Oppenheimer Here's just some random text to throw of the moroms at TH-cam so they don't mistake me for a bot.
Yeah that was very annoying. I had this playing in the background and he kept saying "this movie" and barely mentioned the name. How the hell are we supposed to know what movie it is?!
Favorite movie of 2023 1. The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2. Fool's Paradise 3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 4. American fiction. 5. Asteroid City 6. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 7. Poor Things
Oppenheimer was a great movie but it's the only Christopher Nolan film that I don't have any interest in rewatching. I have rewatched Interstellar and the Dark Knight probably 20 times each. 😁
I really did not like Barbie minus a couple of good performances. Poor things did something a lot more interesting and coherent, surprisingly on the last point, and it never made me bored. Somehow, Barbie had me looking at the clock because it was just all over the place. The only funny one in the movie for me was Will Ferrell. I finally caught it a few days ago and thought.....wow, this is really just okay. I still have some big movies on the docket: american fiction, all of us strangers, zone of interest and some others.
Grace randolph did. You must be followibg oblynthe worst videogame reviewrs likr tyrone magnus, jeremy jahsn , angry show. Korey andartin undesrtans cinema. When deadpool fails that will save them from losing income
Dear Martin and Korey.: tell your editor to drag his lazy ass from twitch to TH-cam. All the reviews you kept on twitch like nightmare alley, american fiction saltbutn, man called otto, eyes of tammy faye, beue is afraid. Keep them on DT bites if you must but keep the reviews coming. You should have posted american fiction (theatrical) instead of Maestro (netflux) in here. It would have benefited your poor things and kileer of fliwer moon reviews. Your twitch audience cant care less for movies. Thats why YT accuses you from hating movies. You keep your best reviews in movie-hating outlet like twitch.
You're not fooling anyone, brother. Everyone knows Oppenheimer made your pretty head hurt. It was actually you that came crying: "my pretty head hurt, screw this movie, screw everybody😢"
The Barbie Movie was woeful in every possible way known to filmmaking aside from the art direction.. A list cannot be trusted if it makes it onto anyones top ten films of the year. The 'surprise' was only just how bad it was....
Korey know he being dumb…barbie was the anomaly the exception of when people use that term, cause most the time they use that, it generally is a dud…these people stay disingenuous i swear…it wasn’t them trying to turn idk, blade and make him a female, no it was a movie fallowing the things barbie was already, they didn’t take black Barbie and made her the focus…even though we had black Barbies, they were not the show runners….”Barbie” was “Barbie”….that stuff really make it hard to listen cause yall will swear on the anomaly and the exception as if its the rule
These are my top 10 best movies in 2023 also honored mentioned. 10. Barbie 9. A Thousand and One 8. Oppenheimer 7. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 6. Spider Man: Across The Spider Verse 5. The Color Purple 4. The Iron Claw 3. Killers of the Flower Moon 2. The Boy and The Heron 1. @@johnwerner69 I stopped watching trailers because they show the whole movie. But if I did see the trailer that would of ruined it. I don't pay to see movies I know are bad. Like the color purple. I can see the original one for free that's alot better and has less shucking and jiving
TOP 10 BEST MOVIES OF 2023: 1. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse 2. Godzilla Minus One 3. Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 4. John Wick Chapter 4 5. Oppenheimer 6. Killers Of The Flower Moon 7. The Killer 8. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3 9. Scream VI 10. Elemental
I’ll tell you what Barbie surprised if you invest year I thought that movie was going to be a huge flop I never ever would’ve guessed that it would’ve gotten $1 billion and being nominated for Golden Globes and possibly Oscars
Killers of the flower moon is overrated. TMNT was an awful, Gen Z version of the property. Barbie was funny, but I don’t see it as an Oscar worthy film at all.
The delivery on Korey's 'GO WOKE, GO BROK-how much money did they make...? God damnit, foiled again!' at 32:08 is just perfect xD

Dungeons and Dragons, and then Gran Turismo. Both extremely underrated gems
Dungeons and Dragons was my favorite movie of the last 10 years.

Im actually surprised that no one had Saltburn on their list. Just watched it last night and thought it was fantastic. Especially Barry Keoghan. His level of commitment to the role is nuts
Saltburn is so crazy and I really respect Barry Keoghan for going through with the insane stuff he did in that movie.
He didn’t see Saltburn
I wanna watch it, but I'm scared to. I have OCD & have heard there's a gross-out bit in the movie....
@@ameliacraiig4193there’s a few lol
@ameliacraiig4193 There are 2 or 3 gross out scenes, but they are not really graphic necessarily. It's just the implications of what he is doing that is gross
Sidenote: Martin got that sh*t on 👌🏾
mr. martin “put that shit on” thomas
My #1 movie of the year: The Flash
Come at me!
The Super Bowl tv spot was the best one too
1. Across the Spiderverse
Hands down cemented itself as the greatest and game changing animated film series of the past decade.
Oh you know people are gonna see
Number 3.
2. Godzilla Minus One
Legitimately the most emotionally fueled Film of the year for me.
I love Killers of The Flower Moon, but it still was a flop, and it's funny how no one ever talks about, like the do other movies that flopped.
3. Iron Claw
4. The flower moon.
5. Spider-Man into the spider verse.
6. Air
7. John Wick
8. Barbie.
9. Creed 3
10. Mission impossible dead reckoning.
Isn’t Godzilla the perfect sequel of Oppenheimer?
Towards the end Korey just said fuck the titles. Some of them I don’t know what the hell the movie is
i havent noticed anyone yet bring up talk to me in these retrospective lists. definitely one of my favorite movies as well
10. The Holdovers
9. Migration
8. The City
7. Barbie
6. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3
5. Spiderman: Across the Spider Verse
4. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1
3. May December
2. John Wick: Chaper 4
1. Oppenheimer
Here's just some random text to throw of the moroms at TH-cam so they don't mistake me for a bot.
Watch iron claw!!!
@@parareefaelias656 yeah I know, I just didn't get a chance to go to the movies recently and it just finished its run in theaters
@@poihpioakarp8845 and godzilla!
Can you say the names of the actual movies, there was points where I couldn’t find them. And it’s bit annoying. Thanks
Yeah that was very annoying. I had this playing in the background and he kept saying "this movie" and barely mentioned the name. How the hell are we supposed to know what movie it is?!
Killers of the flower moon is a great movie
Favorite movie of 2023
1. The Super Mario Bros. Movie
2. Fool's Paradise
3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
4. American fiction.
5. Asteroid City
6. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
7. Poor Things
Anybody know when The Roast and Toast are coming back?
I was one of those people that said "Man, when they gone blow some sh!+ up?" 😂
Oppenheimer was a great movie but it's the only Christopher Nolan film that I don't have any interest in rewatching. I have rewatched Interstellar and the Dark Knight probably 20 times each. 😁
What happened to the other guy. Did he get fired?
D&D was so much fun
I really did not like Barbie minus a couple of good performances. Poor things did something a lot more interesting and coherent, surprisingly on the last point, and it never made me bored. Somehow, Barbie had me looking at the clock because it was just all over the place. The only funny one in the movie for me was Will Ferrell.
I finally caught it a few days ago and thought.....wow, this is really just okay.
I still have some big movies on the docket: american fiction, all of us strangers, zone of interest and some others.
American Fiction is based of a book Erasure from Percival Everett.
Thank you for teaching me.
I didn’t even have fun in Meghan personally. Felt like I wasted my time & money
43:10 I love this mentality, and by extension this list
The streaming movie about the hired killer…I missed what they said the title was?
Another great documentary for 2023 was Robodoc: The Creation of Robocop.
I really want to see Poor Things so much.
Love you guys!❤
Love your chapeau, Martin. I admire your hat game.
I always love your guys lists, but this might be a top 3 Martin outfit.
Love the categories
Ayee shout out Braving The Elements!!
Damn Zak Efron looking like Joaquin Phoenix in that movie
Ashamed I have yet to see Killers Of The Flower Moon. A stinging reminder with Korey's comment, "Scorsese is not fazed by Hollywood."
Saltburn should be on the list
Just curious... Is Korey's pronunciation of 'herON' typical in the US, or is it a another Colemanism...?
It’s a regional dialect, I think. I’ve heard other people say it like that here in the US.
@@skyofthelivingdead Cool, thanks. I was really starting to wonder…
Color purple really? No one put that on their list anywhere!
Grace randolph did. You must be followibg oblynthe worst videogame reviewrs likr tyrone magnus, jeremy jahsn , angry show. Korey andartin undesrtans cinema. When deadpool fails that will save them from losing income
🙏🙏🙏🙏 The Iron Claw, finally!
Talk to me was a pleasant surprise. I don't watch horror or thriller like that but that was no doubt entertaining!
Can y’all list the movies in the description section of the post
Can’t wait for Ted series review my popcorn ready😂😂😂
like this video but why does it feel like Korey is too scared to rank them
Creed 3 made my list. But most of Korey's list is on par with mine
khaitli dever was incredible it had movie I watched so muchch
The Barbie Movie was woeful in every possible way known to filmmaking aside from the art direction.. A list cannot be trusted if it makes it onto anyones top ten films of the year. The 'surprise' was only just how bad it was....
9:30 no, Corey had it right. It's Holt McCallany, not Hoyt
My favourite movie of ❤of 2023
Korey know he being dumb…barbie was the anomaly the exception of when people use that term, cause most the time they use that, it generally is a dud…these people stay disingenuous i swear…it wasn’t them trying to turn idk, blade and make him a female, no it was a movie fallowing the things barbie was already, they didn’t take black Barbie and made her the focus…even though we had black Barbies, they were not the show runners….”Barbie” was “Barbie”….that stuff really make it hard to listen cause yall will swear on the anomaly and the exception as if its the rule
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE is the best movie of the year 👌

A nice good chunky list!
Aquaman 2 was awesome 😎
'Been waiting for this.
42:25. I was thinking about watching Megan until you showed that. Killed any interest I had in seeing it.
That dance was in every trailer
@@johnwerner69 I stopped watching trailers because they show the whole movie. But if I did see the trailer that would of ruined it. I don't pay to see movies I know are bad. Like the color purple. I can see the original one for free that's alot better and has less shucking and jiving
Oppenheimer was also probably made because we never ended war, have nonstop funded the army and we are getting very close to nuclear Armageddon
Scream 6 is best movie of 2023
TOP 10 BEST MOVIES OF 2023:
1. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

10. Elemental
Dude…you HATE EVERYTHING! Least you could do is to have the guts to admit it, lmfao!!! 😂
Man... I need to watch more new movies
Best moie this year was "Terminatrix"
Its so BAD...its good. Trust me! Goat movie. Better than Morbius
where's the Turkish lady? I miss her
They should watch Blue Eye Samurai
1:23 thank god
Never realize how pretty Margot Robbie's smile is
I’ll tell you what Barbie surprised if you invest year I thought that movie was going to be a huge flop I never ever would’ve guessed that it would’ve gotten $1 billion and being nominated for Golden Globes and possibly Oscars
Killers of the flower moon is overrated. TMNT was an awful, Gen Z version of the property. Barbie was funny, but I don’t see it as an Oscar worthy film at all.
The First Slam Dunk is a better animated movie then TMNT.
@@missourigreen051 agreed
Korey I was with every movie except dungeons and dragons but you really was tripping when you put No One Will Save You. That movie is dookie
How does They Cloned Tyrone compare to Sorry to Bother You?
Asking for a friend
Thank god for Little Mermaid Remake is Not on the List
I don’t think anybody was expecting it to be on the list 😆
Great job Cory .
Spiderverse is still film of the year for me
