This career, while interesting to watch (as are all your Vids, Taff), was very frustrating. I never got the feeling that Luca was given the opportunity to hit his stride, to develop into the lethal warrior he could be. Thinking about this last mission, I'm torn between alternative strategies: 1) slog it out with the baddies to provide distraction from the bombers (which you chose); 2) cut and run for the border in the cause of self-preservation (maybe not well appreciated by the brass) or; 3) circle back to the bomber squadron and try to use their defensive fire while you fight the attackers. Me, in game, I don't think I would have made your choice knowing how out numbered I was and that my wingmen were downed and probably selected 2 to keep the campaign alive. In real life I would have signaled wingmen to stay with the bomber squadron and try to fend off fighters in the pack while calling for back-up. It was a suicide mission from the outset, so what are you supposed to do? Survive, I say. Martyrs cannot fight for the cause.
LOL..that was great! If you don't mind me saying; when you asked "what can I do" when recognizing the outnumbered enemy fighters, the immediate answer is MAINTAIN YOUR ENERGY STATE! Don't make those hard turns and burn your E; hold your energy and use those clouds to pop up in and evade while keeping your energy state high. The C202 was a fairly apt fighter with a preferred tactic of boom & zoom so I would recommend keeping that fight at altitude and not diving for the deck while you still had clouds and good E to break up there coordinated attacks? In any event, lots of fun to watch...too bad your pilot couldn't get out a bit sooner. ;) Happy skies

What a frustrating mission. Maybe clean your pallet with more of that WWI flying boat bomber? Maybe a campaign, in that, because that looked fun and very different from what people usually fly.
My Austrian pilot got lit up by one of his greenhorn wingmen by accident. He died on November 3rd 1941, at 1509 Moscow Time which was 1409 Berlin time (He served in LG2 a BF109E7 unit set for ground attacks)
Bluddy hell taff, well.. that's it. The fog of war chooses it's next victim, as it is for many. Still you've gone out and gave it your all, there's nothing that can deny that and at least you went down a warrior. As it is for many warriors, they go down with a sword and there's no higher form of dignity. Great series taff, I've loved each episode of it, looking forward to the next flight series you come out with.. rise of flight, il 2 great battles.. what ever you decide, us who are watching we're all looking forward to it. You could always try another bomber or even an allied fighter series one day, but that's your choice mate.. stay safe, stay healthy and happy gaming for you always. 👏
What, you uploaded yesterday and TH-cam doesn't show the vid in my recent uploads ? Outrageous ! Edit : Sad to see the series end, but I guess it's difficult to make a long one with the 202. Either there's no action or there's too much in a single mission ! ^^
Always sad when a pilot dies. You breathe such life in to them that it's impossible not to get attached 😢. How about doing the Blitz next? Doesn't matter which side.
I think there must be a bug of some kind in the code for the c.202. I've never seen a series of Il-2 videos where you always get sent up in a group of three, unless the squadron only has three fit pilots or serviceable planes. That scenario could have been manageable in the usual 8-plane formation, but with only three of you you really didn't have much of a chance.
Could have been worse. If this career had been in the old IL-2 1946 game, Taff would have been flying the radial-engined Macchi C.200 - the fighter the Italians actually had historically on the Eastern Front in 1941. The C.200 is 57 mph slower, and has no 7.7 mm wing guns. Outclassed!

He survived an impossible bail out from an aircraft tumbling at low altitude, only to come down inside the explosion of the wreck hitting the ground.

It is easy to see in each of the videos of this series the fates have been against Luca every step of the way.

Restart an Italian campaign. Start with the MC200. Work towards the MC202.
