Uhm…it’s illegal to take sand from any beach in Hawaii. If caught, you can be fined up to $100,000. You are advertising it on a video. 🤷‍♀️Also, many people say it’s bad juju to take rocks or sand. Many people have mailed taken stuff back due to the bad luck they started having when they returned home.

They flagged our sand at the airport as the little baggies look like drugs on the scan. They tested the bags and even complimented me on all the beaches we had been to. No fine and the sand was not confiscated.

I feel it's not just about the fines or bad juju here its about the amount of people doing it and taking sand home. Sand is a really important natural resource that became rare nowadays. So please just don't take the sand because Hawaii needs it, to still exist and grow as a healthy ecosystem. Thanks ;)

I was there two weeks ago watching the sunrise. And many of the locals were already there at five thirty in the morning setting up their little cots, chairs and barbecues... So friendly and welcoming , beautiful beautiful area

This person hiding behind the name “New” seems to be more negative than this group is use to dealing with. Questioning how a name is said. I believe Alisa would know how to correctly say her own Daughter-in-laws name. And NO one ever said they are a 5 star hotel kind of channel. Just regular people, sharing their travels. You do you. But let them do them. Their are over 105,000 that appreciate the content they put out. Thanks Alisa and Jason for taking us along.

A lot of history in the sand. They brought a lot of sand from California, to replenish what was taken away by the hurricanes that blasted The Hawaii Pearl's.

Please, please, please, if you come to Hawaii, don't take the sand. Imagine if each of the 10 million plus visitors every year took half a pound of sand. That's 5 million pounds of beach eroded a year. It adds up. Taking sand or rocks is considered kapu and has been known to bring bad luck when you get back home, it didn't just happen on the Brady Bunch. For any beach anywhere, the best policy for the health of the beach is to leave it the way you found it other than adding your footprints. Mahalo!

  • @thomasdouglass8778
    @thomasdouglass8778 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

It was wonderful running into you guys on the Pride of America. Your vlogs are very helpful and I respect you guys. Not to criticize nor condemn but please don’t take sand nor rocks nor any natural resources from the islands. In most instances it can even be illegal with large fines. Imagine though if every tourist to our islands took a little bag of sand from our beaches or lava rocks from our beaches or parks and what that would do to our resources and the beauty of our islands. Please enjoy the sand between your toes and under your feet. Feel it’s relaxing energy as you lay on it on a beautiful Hawaiian day but please don’t take it away. There’s also the belief of Pele's Curse which is the belief that anything natively Hawaiian, such as sand, rock, or pumice, will bring bad luck on whoever takes it away from Hawaii. Take nothing away but a smile, the Spirit of Aloha, and what you purchase. You are great people who do great things but please leave the resources for others to enjoy, I mean, what good is a little bag of sand going to do on your shelf or in your drawer at home. God bless and Mahalo.

    Umm…it’s “Oahu”, not “Ohau”.
With great respect, have enough humility and respect for the place you’re visiting to take the time to at least spell it correctly, especially if you’re putting it out there for the world to see. This just looks amateurish.

You should not have taken that sand. Very bad travel tourist example you are setting. What do you think would happen to the quality of beaches in Hawaii if just a quarter of the millions of tourists that visit Hawaii took sand, volcano rock etc.? They already have a very hard time keeping sand on the beaches due to natural erosion. Won't be watching your channel moving forward.

Great beach hop. Hawaii looks amazing. I think I mentioned that we are taking the Ovation OTS from Sydney to Honolulu (Transpacific) in 2024 and we just added the Pride of America 3 days after getting into Honolulu. We won't have time to see that much of one island but think it will be a great way to see a snapshot of Hawaii. We are psyched and looking forward to seeing your vlogs on this coming trip. FYI, my wife of 43 yrs and I love to see another couple in love -unless you are really faking it! Having so much fun together. I was envious that you had so much fun with your son and daughter in law. We are traveling on the Oasis in July with one son and his family. Mima and I are taking our grandson 6 yr old from our other son so we'll have two grandchildren! So excited.

I used to live in California for years and drive up-and-down PmCH from? San Diego to San. Francisco. I used to think there'd be no difference between California and Hawaii because of the beach and the ocean. The first time I went to Hawaii realized there's a big difference. There's somewhat of a peace and a freedom that you feel on the beach in Hawaii...esp the ones on the east and north side...more in the local communities away from so many tourist areas.

It’s my understanding that it’s not always open, but if you catch them open, it’s a large outdoor grill on the ocean side of the road. There’s a shack there too with merch

Canadian fan, just got into your channel. That rig you went with is awesome looking, looks easy to drive and I’m sure just all around maneuverable in small spaces compared to your class C. How do you like cooking in this new rig? And as we are Canadian, we don’t unfortunately have the “Cracker Barrels” and other stops to stay as you travel, as we are not equipped for that in some of our Northern climates. We do, however, have very extreme temps in some parts of our country, both hot and cold. Glad I joined your channels (a 60 something and 70 year old couple). Enjoy your videos very much!

Aloha Alisa and Jason, I’m so glad y’all enjoyed our beautiful islands and I’d agree that Waimānalo Beach is our favorite as well! One response refers to the fact that a lot of the sand is shipped in from California, however that would be Waikīkī. Caution thought, hopefully you didnt take any volcanic black sand from the Big Island. If ever you saw the Brady Bunch episode in Hawai’i, that was loosely based upon local folklore and our beloved Goddess, Madame Pele.

I heard that too - bad juju--- you should not take any natural items from Hawaii back to mainland....unless that is just for the black sand - or even any peridot you might find on the black sand (which is where it is formed from)

What do you mean by audibles?

It’s a football reference. If a quarterback wants to change the play, he calls an audible and does something else. We always go into travel with a rough plan and make changes as we go.

@@EECCTravels Ohhhhh well since I know absolutely NOTHING about football, I had no idea what you meant, LOL

Hawaii is almost magical. The Caribbean is awesome but Hawaii, just a step above. Our favorite beach is Hapuna on the big island. Absolutely beautiful.
