- We made it to Hawaii for the first time ever! Today is the first of 12 days exploring four of the Hawaiian Islands. Our first stop is the island of Oahu and we are staying in the heart of everything near Waikiki Beach. But we don't just stay there! We are going to get out and explore all this island has to offer!

The tempura is suppose to be dipped in the udon broth to up the flavor. When I worked on Oahu I stayed two blocks from that udon place and found the slower line times(early) to eat there. Awesome. Miss it. Thanks for the vlog!

Great vlog! Hawaii is one of my favorite places. Manoa Falls is a nice hike and is beautiful!!! North shore is fun, the food trucks are so yummy too! There is another waterfall too, nice beaches, and it’s fun to drive around the island. My husband and I renewed our vows in Maui. Love it! The air in Hawaii is so fresh and clean I had no allergies when I was there both times. Hope Alisha didn’t suffer with a sinus infection that long! Thank you for sharing! 💗
We lived on Oahu for over 3 years (stationed there via the Navy). It's beautiful if you can get away from Honolulu and Waikiki area. North Shore is wonderful. So glad you had a good time! I loved Hawaii however I was so sick there off and on. I don't think my body liked the flora and fauna. Thanks for sharing :)

Glad you are enjoying Hawaii! 2 of my favorite cruises years ago was on the SS Independence and SS Constitution, constructed in 1950, both sailed out of Oahu. Small ships but so much history. Enjoy the rest of your stay in Hawaii. Aloha!

The fruit plate …..That white grape tasting thing with the fat seed was a lychee! In the store you find it in a reddish rough looking skin.

Awesome video! The colors in the tropical forests were crisp and green! Enjoyed the walk up Manoa Falls and back! I even enjoyed the food truck food critique! I want some coconut shrimp and the fruit bowl! I loved seeing the VW bus in the food truck circle!!! Brings back the good old days! Quote some prices for us when you think of it…Hawaii is expensive! On our last visit to Maui 11 years ago, a gallon of milk was 3x higher than the Mainland!

Alisa, I feel you on that hike. I love that those benches were there right before you arrive at the falls. I did not realize that the falls were just a few yards ahead. I can’t wait to see the rest of y’all videos.

You have to remember that most of the sand on Waikiki beach came from other islands and some say even as far as California.
Some beaches are man made and sand is brought in…

There is NOTHING like the fresh Pineapple in Hawaii, my sister n law had it in the frig 24/7...so honey sweet, not like our fresh pineapple which is so acidic it almost burns your mouth! Gotta love it.
Yes!! We had a giant bowl of it at the Dole Plantation yesterday too… it doesn’t get any fresher than that 😃
Love Love Oahu! There in Jan and you're doing everything we did! Best shaved ice was at Island Vintage Shaved Ice, a small but wonderful little kiosk on the beautiful urban streets of Waikiki!!! Enjoy everything and I'll keep watching that's for sure!!!

My Parents are stationed there, I visit once a year. They took me to that shrimp truck and I loved it. Wish I paid more attention and knew you guys were going, I’m sure my parents would have loved to show y’all the best parts of the island.

Happy Anniversary guys! We were on the same sailing and renowned our vows onboard for our 25th too! I just found your vlog and love it. This was certainly a dream vacation for us. Our daughters were also celebrating graduations- one from high school and one from college.

They just started the fireworks back the week we arrived… but we were on the North Shore watching the sunset and missed them.

Waimanalo Beach park...lovely beach and camping. I did your hike, but had to get a golf cart to get me back down cuz I was exhausted...I was 69 at the time! But loved it!
As a bucket list item, we did a helicopter tour around the big island, you will see some INSANE falls there.

The Udon 🍜 was my favorite dinner I had there.
We were there in the north shore during the surf 🏄♀️ competition, Giovanni‘a shrimp 🍤 was delicious 🤤. We got the shaved ice 🍧 there too, it was soooo good. I would love to do that day again earlier in the day and enjoyed more leisurely.

Love your guys enthusiasm & excitement! Enjoy the rest of your trip! FYI the tempura is meant to be dipped in tempura sauce, guess the sauce may not have been given to you. Next time try with the dipping sauce it'll be more flavorful

Was there in Haleiwa on that exact same Monday…only to discover that darn Giovanni shrimp truck was closed!
The irony was that we drove by the Kahuki truck earlier in the day with the plan to eat at the Haleiwa one. As it turned out, the only thing we missed during our week vaca was Giovanni’s…
You have to get a traditional Plate Lunch. Choice of meat, macaroni salad, and rice. Carb overload but it's a Hawaiian must try. Try the Rainbow Drive In or Hula Grill.
I love watching you guys in your adventures all the time. I am a cruiser and I grow up as a camper and a boater. as you may guess I can really relate to your RV trip. I've been fortunate enough to go to 48 of the 50 states. in 2024 we have an Hawaii trip planned so I'm watching your trip closely. We decided that we were not going to do a Hawaiian cruise because we would want more time on each of the islands. So I'm watching it closely to see what your perspective is. I would be very interested in knowing what your meals have been running you in Hawaii

Hi guys. Your son looks so much like you! He is also very handsome. Glad you guys can enjoy Hawaii! It’s on our list but it’s too expensive so we really have to save money for that one.
We did this for a belated 30th Anniversary back in May,2022 (our actual 30th was in June,2021 but a lot of Hawaii was still on lockdown then, so we waited a bit for the restrictions to life)…Didn’t get to do Manoa Falls because it’s not particularly wheelchair friendly…looked Wonderul!

FYI--->In the Hawaiian culture, if you are to wear a flower behind your left ear, you are married and/or unavailable. Wearing a flower on the right side signifies the opposite, that the person in question is single and possibly looking for love. You should wear your flower on the left side since you are married.
Zane’s Shrimp truck is very good, believe it or not, Giovanni’s is way over rated so you’re not missing much.
Also that treat you had with the Spam and rice wrapped in seaweed like a giant sushi roll is called Musubi.

The beach you went to on the north shore - Hale’iwa/Ali’i always has turtles swimming about or sunning themselves.
Matsumoto’s Shave ice is so good, Hawaiian with ice cream and adzuki is da bes! Thanks for the video, loved it. Hmm I’m going to have to go to North Shore… I haven’t had Ray’s chicken and shave ice in awhile 😊
The hike was more difficult than we expected but we did enjoy it. We love the North Shore!!
At some luau's, take notice of white, square dessert that looks like solid, opaque jello. Traditionally, coconut water is mixed/strained w/dried, grated coconut meat. Tapioca/arrowroot powder is mixed/heated to simmer & cooled down in baking sheet pans. Then cut into squares.....and VOILA....Haupia!
In Japan, you use your chopsticks to pile the noodles onto your spoon. Makes it much easier to eat.

IF you're in Haleiwa, checkout Jenny's Shrimp Truck & Big Wave Shrimp. Ironically, BOTH are across the street from each other! Because both are less known, parking/lines are almost non-existent. Also checkout Surf N Salsa/ Malai Thai in close proximity, Finally, drop-by Mama Nita's food truck Tues-Thurs., parked behind Cafe Haleiwa. They just opened in Feb. 2022 & they would appreciate the business!

We have been there at the north shore in January. The waves that day were running about 26' ! Amazing seeing the surfers, some with cracked boards amd Helmets! And in January, that is when you get to see all the Whales! Fun to watch the mommys teaching their babies. You can whale watch right from the shore, or your beach balcony. Also when the Captain was taking the Pride of America around the Napali coast, he kept doing 360° so everyone on board fould see all the whales, and on the Big Island, when we were going around the southern tip where lava was pouring into the ocean, he did more 360° s!!! Truly an amazing cruise. We have been on this cruise teice, and been to the islands many more times! Vickie from SE Pa

I was born in Honolulu. Those crowds and long lines are typical, especially at places favored by tourists. Try some of the out-islands.
The north shore is far better than other parts of the island. Less congested and more natural.

Manoa Falls is not in Waikiki, it is in the Manoa district of Honolulu.
At 13:33, you are eating lychee with the seed in the middle.
In Hawaii, we locals call starfruit '5 fingers'.
