  • This is our experience with potty training a pug puppy! Bowser is both indoor and outdoor trained and this is how I got him to being fully potty trained with hardly any accidents as a puppy.
I understand this may not work for everyone but I wanted to share tips and tricks that worked for us with potty training a puppy to hopefully help others on how to potty train their dogs.

I wouldn't recommend the light coloured puppy pads as shown in the thumbnail because I felt they stained and ripped a lot easier.

    Great video. ❤❤❤
Having potty trained many dogs through pug rescue, I can confirm that the X-pen method is excellent. I have found the raw food diet is key to regulating elimination and chewing.
That's really tough that you live in a very cold climate. ☹️ My winter practice is to put an X-pen around the back door with a potty pad in the middle (assuming there's a porch cover so it doesn't get wet.) I have also used a waterproof table with cypress mulch underneath and all my dogs LOVE using that as an umbrella. When the weather warms up the X-pen goes away and the fenced yard is available once more.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ to cotton potty pads! The human bed pads can be hosed off easily in the backyard or shower and hung dry in 1 hour, no soap. 🎉🥳🥂
Thanks for the great videos, keep 'em coming! ❤❤❤ Just love Bowser!

I've been using a crate and a play pen folded up around the entrance of the kennel. Super makeshift I know, but it's been working. He gets out while asleep and has a bowl of water outside and two puppy pads to the other side (just enough room using the fence for the pads to fit.) that only works for bedtime, but during the day he has a play pen and I'm having the same issue where he occasionally has accidents on the carpet while in the pen. He also loves to roll around in his pads and kicks them or BITES AND EATS THEM TOO 😒) he's only 4 months old but it's been such a challenge. He likes to nibble on EVERYTHING 🤦🏻‍♂️

This was great info. I think I'll look into something like this. We live in WY and the winter is pretty darned miserable here too. I have a 5 month old black female and like Bowser at that age, we're doing mostly pretty good, with the occasional uh oh. I feel like that might change this coming (quickly) winter! One of her main "accidents" (on purpose) is her dear love of peeing on blankets that are on the floor, like her big lab sister's bed. So this might not be much of a stretch. Loved the end...this is so Willow, the flat nosed black land piranha!

Willow is such a cute name. Ohh no her big lab sister must not be too happy about her peeing on her bed lol! I found washing stuff with natures miracle got rid of the bio smell really well and bowser wouldn’t pee in the same spot again. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and commenting. 😊

@@BowserthePugsCastle Wanted to come back to this to give you a few ideas/updates. First of all, I'm not sure my pug is actually a pug...she LOVES SNOW. She's been like a little black jackrabbit out there all winter and sometimes diving into drifts taller than she is. So much for that. She's actually really well housebroken now, probably more reliable than any pug we've ever owned. That said..we adopted a 6 year old pug in the meantime, and I don't think anyone ever even tried with her. We're working hard on treating a good potty, but also discovered a couple of things that are getting us by. If you can get your hands on the cloth underpads that they use in medical facilities like hospitals and nursing homes, they're the best thing ever. Washable and not chewable. Also, that "My pet peed" spray is the best I've ever used. Honestly I think it's mostly hydrogen peroxide and really need to test my theory. Hope you and Bowser are doing great!

Totally! Bowser was the same way. I have another video on extra indoor potty training tips: th-cam.com/video/oLPH9fKEjEs/w-d-xo.html. I found that if he had an accident I would clean it up with enzymatic urine cleaner and then put the pee from the floor on his puppy pad so he would know that's where to go. I found the make shift puppy apartment shown in this video where their bed, food and water on one side and pee pad separated on the other was super helpful for Bowser when he was first a puppy as well. Now he's both indoor and outdoor trained and hasn't had an accident in a while. Hope this helps! Definitely check out the other video as it goes into specifically indoor training a bit more. It's AJ from PA I've had a pug for a little over a month now I got him when he was 10 weeks old. He's a very intelligent dog and so empathetic. He likes to bite a lot, chewing on our fingers like Bowser is doing in the end of your video LOL. Does that ever stop, do I reprimand him for this? I usually just give him something to chew on cuz I know he is teething. Thanks for your Channel

He’s gotten better but still bites when he’s excited. I would replace it with toys like you are or I’d stop playing with him when he bit so he’d know it’s not okay. We also gave him frozen treats and chews for his teeth. Once he stopped teething he doesn’t chew or bite very often anymore.

My dog is 2 years old, obviously she's not a puppy anymore and she's rescued from the streets. I adopted her 3 months ago and she only goes potty outside. It's great of course, but there are days when I can only take her outside one time, so she waits a long time. I would like to teach her to go potty on my balcony, but I don't know how. I've tried spraying products they sell for dogs to smell and go potty, I've tried spreading dirt from outside, but nothing has worked. What can I do to teach her to go potty indoors whenever she wants?

I haven’t had experience training a full grown dog but what worked for us was using his pee whenever he had an accident as a puppy and clean it up using a paper towel and putting the paper towel on the puppy pad so his scent was there. (I’m not sure how you would get their pee scent outside, gross as it sound maybe bring a paper towel and try and catch some pee on it.) That worked for bowser he could smell his scent on it so he instinctively peed there. Also giving treats when he peed there helped encourage it.

Well that trains him to go on carpet 😅 I don't think 🤔 that's what I want ..

Big difference between going on a puppy pad and carpet, my house is filled with carpet and he never goes on carpet. The puppy pad has the scent and if you watch part two it’s in a litter box. The only time bowser has had an accident on the floor was in a house where another dog had peed in that spot. So nope doesn’t teach them that. 😊

Regardless, the rules in the chart are the same for both indoor and outdoor! Worked for my dogs. Hope it helps yours.

This video is nonsense . i have been a breeder for 40 years . every puppy can be trained in two weeks starting at 9 to 12 weeks . do not use puppy pads in the house!!!!!! you are telling a puppy it can go in the house.... after every meal pick to puppy up put it outside and when it wees or poos just say good boy or girl and that's it as simple as that . put a puppy outside every two or three hours for five minutes and that it it!!!!

I am absolutely telling him he can go in the house, in his bathroom. Because I intend to keep training him in the house. Just because it’s different than what you do doesn’t make it any more valid.

He hasn’t had an accident in the house since he was a puppy. This indoor bathroom system works for him and other people have told me it works for them. Everyone has different lifestyles therefore different potty needs. He is completely trained and it was very easy. I don’t intend to reply again cause you’re clearly a troll.

Also if you intend to rip someone’s video apart and try to make yourself sound smart, you might want to learn how to spell and use grammar properly cause you sound like you’re speaking nonsense lol.

Please learn how to do better video editing. Way too much cutting. At times is unwatchable

    • @BowserthePugsCastle
      @BowserthePugsCastle  ปีที่แล้ว +3

That’s how I prefer to edit. Also how I prefer to watch TH-cam creators videos. If there’s not enough cuts I get bored with all the useless uninteresting information. I find cuts makes things more concise and interesting for attention span.

So I will continue to edit this way because my good retention analytics and subscribers say it’s good editing. I find videos without enough cuts boring. To each their own!
