France education system sucks too much. It requires students to know what they want to become as soon as the age of 16. 16 is the age a which French students have to choose which “BaC” (high school diploma equivalent) they want to get. The Major that the French students will study at the University will depend on the type of BAC (high school diploma) that they have obtained during high school. And it is extremely hard to switch major if you don’t have the correct high school diploma.
I am so glad I moved to the US after passing the BAC in France and spent 2 years in a French University studying marketing. Once I moved to the US I was able to switch my major and now I am a doctor. If I would have stayed in France, I would have never been able to switch major because of the BaC I chose.
At 16 I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to become. But you have to decide which type of BAC you want to obtain. That’s too absurd to ask a 16 years old to make a decision that will affect his/her entire career.

Setting your path in life at 16 years old is also a feature of English education. That's the point at which you have passed GCSE exams (equivalent to graduation from an American high school) in a wide range of subjects and have to decide which three (occasionally four or even five) you are going to specialise in at 'A' (Advanced) level two years later. That severely limits your options at university.
Scottish kids study five or more subjects for Highers a year later, which gives them greater choice of university course, because they can apply after Highers even though they may be staying at school for another year. After I took Highers in 1968, I was qualified to enter seven of the eight faculties at my university (i.e. not Music).
