    Nice video !
    Two little things, though :
    -Shimazu Yoshihiro was forced to retire and become a monk by the Tokugawa after Sekigahara, his son inheriting Satsuma lands.
    -Otani Yoshitsugu was not betrayed by his men but Kobayakawa Hideaki switched sides during the battle and flanked Otani forces, crushing them.
    And it's funny how the Tachibana are always portrayed as a loving couple while in reality Muneshige divorced and forced Ginchyo (her buddhist name) to become a nun when she failed to produce heirs. He then remaried but never had children.
    SPOILERS :
    Other Characters were revealed :
    -Yagyu Munetoshi and Marune Nagayoshi, master swordsmen.
    -Inei Hozoin, master spearman.
    -Tenkai Nankobo, priest and Ieyasu's advisor.
    -Yasuke first black man to arrive in Japan, sold to Oda Nobunaga as a "curiosity", depicted in the game as his bodygard.
    -Saiga Magoichi, legendary mercenary specialised in firearms.

      Look up the mini-series called Shogun (1980). It's a fictional account of William Adams (renamed John Blackthorne) and will definitely get the hype train rolling.

    Tachibana Muneshige is a bit short, here is a bit longer, he was known as the Warrior of the West as his martial prowess on the battlefield is comparable to Honda Tadataktsku. Beside being an excellent swordman, he was a poet, an artist and also a skillful at tea ceremony.
    He armed his troops with katanas which is a bit extra longer than normal standard katanas for it time. He and Ginchyo never bore any children, some say they even disliked each other. Although Muneshige has a mistress he was fond of but died before giving birth to any children of his.
    His last battle where he showed his skill as a military tactician and warrior was the Shimabara Rebellion before passing away peacefully in 1643.
    Credit to Team Ninja and KOEI who took extra care with the Armor being exact similar to the historical counterpart. Alot of the armor that the character wore existed. Notably Tokugawa Ieyasu armor during Sekigahara.

    just to clarify, Otani Yoshitsugu wasn't betrayed by his own men but by a general of the western army Kobayakawa Hideaki. He had one his men to cut of his head.
    on another note the hanzo who helps us is the son and the one who was known as demon hanzo is the toad boss

  • @spwnfromhell
    @spwnfromhell 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    One tiny mistake is when you said Toyotomi Hideyoshi's son was dead. Toyotomi Hideyori who was very young at the time of the battle, grew up and led a rebellion, failing Hideyori's suicide at 22 was the last obstacle to Tokugawa Ieyasu’s bid to establish his own family as the preeminent power in Japan.

    • @Fextralife
      @Fextralife  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was mis-read, it was meant to say his "first" son was dead (who was adopted), and that his inheritance defender died a year later so Tokugawa saw to seize power.

    • @spwnfromhell
      @spwnfromhell 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      no worries funny story about that is when Hideyori was born and then his adopted son "died" Hideyoshi also had the rest of his family put to death, my guess is that so his son could inherent the throne.

      "Sekigahara" that will probably be just what you want :)

    Also, may I add something to correct the video, Toyotomi Hideyori (Hideyoshi's son and only heir to the Toyotomi clan before its eventual demise in 1615) did not died by the time Battle of Sekigahara take place. Mitsunari battled against Tokugawa is to protect the legacy of Hideyoshi's will.

    Toyotomi Hideyoshi was never Shogun, because he was born a commoner named Hiyoshi-maru. However he would go from being the son of a peasant-ashigaru to the most powerful man in Japan and the second of the Great Uniters.
    His rise to power occurred after his successful building of Sunomata Castle during the Oda clan's war against the Saito clan. This castle, said to have been built in one night, was instrumental in the fall of Inabayama Castle and the defeat of the Saito clan.
    As a result of this and several other victories he quickly became a leading general for Oda Nobunaga. After Nobunaga's death at Honnō-ji he defeated Akechi Mitsuhide to assume leadership of the Oda clan. He would later go on to convince Tokugawa Ieyasu to serve him as a retainer following the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute, later unifying Japan after the fall of the Hojo.
    Despite his position as the leading warlord in Japan, much like Oda Nobunaga, he would never be granted the position of Shogun and the closest he ever got was the position of Imperial Regent of Japan despite having the same level of power.
    The Toyotomi would fall largely due to the harsh and brutal punishments handed out by Hideyoshi when his brother Hidetsugu was accused of treason. Hidetsugu's entire family, bar one daughter, were executed including the execution of the 15 year old daughter of Mogami Yoshiaki which would cause nany clans, especially the Mogami clan, to side with Ieyasu at the Battle of Sekigahara. Following the winter and summer Sieges of Osaka Castle the Toyotomi were crushed entirely and the clan dissolved.

    • @Fextralife
      @Fextralife  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We simplified a lot, as it was too much to cram into a short video and for simplicity sake acting shogun it is. The reason this all went down this way is because hideyoshi ordered his adoptive son and nephew to commit seppuku in an attempt to get his second real son in the inheritance list. With maedas death, Tokugawa saw his chance to dispute, and after sekigahara became shogun, spelling the beggining of the end of sengoku.

    Very good production and well thought out! Liked the cheeky "Four Kings" flashes!
    Criticism:
    - Histyory? Intentional?
    - Naruto/300/Star Wars footage. Funny, but unnecessary.
    - Pronunciation of names, places, etc. Most are fine, but some are glaring: "Takugawa." Most people won't care, though.

    • @Fextralife

    I'm surprised there was no mention of Sanada Yukimara. Sure he wasn't directly involved in the battle of Sekigahara, instead fighting at the second siege of Ueda Castle, which stopped 32000 (or something like that) men from reinforcing Iyeasu at the battle of Sekigahara, but the guy is a historical figure from this time and the poster boy for another koei tecmo franchise.

      I agree. In fact, he is one of the Five Generals of Osaka (remaining four are Goto Matabe, Mori Katsunaga, Chosokabe Morichika and Asahi Takenori) that defending the Toyotomi Clan that is lead by Toyotomi Hideyori from the Shogunate in 1615, and also the only person Tokugawa feared even in his final days.

      xGutz maybe. He fought for the western forces before fleeing the battle and dueling other samurai.

    Anjin means - Dark Person - i have a japanese friend who told me that..sub sub!! good job with the video.

      Your Japanese friend is incorrect. 三浦按針does not mean dark person - it's a name assumed by William Adams. Your friend may have been thinking of similar sounding words that do not share the same kanji :)
      Glad you liked the video! :D

    If you could learn how to pronounce Japanese vowels once. Just once. It would do wonders for any future videos. It makes people who know better cringe when you cant even take two seconds to look up a pronunciation. Which is unfitting for a video trying to teach people something. The vowel sounds in this particular language never ever change. If you've ever heard more than a couple legitimate Japanese words come out of a native speakers mouth just use them as reference. Or find Nama-senseis' Japanese lessons and just watch the first episode.
    Sincerely,
    A concerned weeb.

      We live in Japan. Cas's accent cannot be helped, I have tried, and when I speak as a native Japanese (Fex) foreigners complain of my English accent. Can't please everyone.

      I'm not the narrator ... It's Castielle, and indeed I couldn't get him to pronounce these well but we were on a time crunch to get things done for the wiki
      Would love help with narrations, our video schedule gets rather hectic at times with all we want to do vs what we actually have time for. Will see next time :)
