The light outfits are perfect for who has to take the metro every mornig at six, in a place with couple of billion people living and travelling with you, rain, snow, dirty streets and basically real life. 🎉 🎉🎉
So true 😅I inherited a lovely off-white maxi length woolen coat, that regrettably I can't use on an everyday basis, for precisely the reasons you mention.
But I think that any of these styling options can be "deconstructed" in terms of silhouttte, colours and textures. Taking the inspiration and simply switching out some of the materials, and play around with the different elements to find something that works.
For instance - trenchcoats + leather : ) I've had a classic light beige and a darker grey trenchcoat on rotation for the grimy season for several years, that allows me to wear woolen offwhite (!) trousers, without them getting dingy on the train + walking in the rain. So I can still use the off-white wool as a basic textural element of the outfit, giving that "expensive", classic and comfy vibe, but without the stress of it being too much of a dirt-magnet.
Lydias video here also inspired me to do an all-white outfit under the grey trench, or with any combination of camel/grey/black/navy, and it all looks reasonably well put together with a few accesories to match.
Then, when I combine the trench with a leather pant, I feel a little more "weather-proof". Leather is such a great material for (metro) commuting, as you can always just wipe it down with a damp cloth.
Allthough I would absolutely NOT wear a "nice" leather boot for commuting in winter when temperatures drop to around zero. Road-salt will totally wreck the material and severely reduce their lifespan. People who commute by car have absolutely no idea how big of an issue this is; as they can pretty much just wear indoor shoes all day...
Instead I'll be opting for a heavyduty outdoor boot, and just have a pair of loafers/lowheeled pump in my bag. Less "stylish" for sure, but then I'm not trying to impress my fellow commuters with my choice of footwear, and especially not if it means that a pair of expensive boots aren't going to last more than a few seasons.
PS. I used to routinely do a long black leather coat with black leather pants in winter, but it can feel a little too much early 2000's / like I stepped directly out the Matrix. Allthough on a busy morning commute, that may not neccesarily be a bad thing 😆

I do love the all cream. I’m a 10/12 - 5’ 6” - with a bit of a belly so not sure about having everything tucked in at the front but I know things don’t look as smart if they aren’t. Have to play around with that one!

YES, Would LOVE to see Lydias take on some stylish clothing options that could work for bike commuting. Or when one has a bit of walk from the train for that matter.
I feel like the long black knit dress - allthough gorgeous - would not really work so well stuffed into a pair of allweather pants 😅 Loving the bag that doubles as a backpack, but I think the straps would start to cut into ones shoulders, if one were to bring a laptop plus all other essentials on a bikecommute. Also, long coats are so classic and versatile, and great for commuting by train - but on a bike they do tend to become a bit of a hazard ;)
Maybe some layering options and/or lightweight pieces to bring in a backpack and easily change into? Not sure how well a straightleg leatherpant would work for biking, (probably not) but they do keep out the rain to a degree when walking...
I find that adding some statement jewelry, a nice belt and/or a scarf to a more lowkey/practical outfit can go a long way (my merino and cashmere crew-neck pullovers are staples, since they're breathable and don't easily get smelly), but I'm also looking for inspiration to upgrade my basic workwear wardrobe. Especially for those colder days where I need to be both comfortable AND appear reasonably businesslike.
I know some bike commuters who bring an entire weeks worth of office workwear with them on Mondays, but that seems like a whole other level of closet-management in terms of planning. Plus you still have the challenge of stuffing all those outfits neatly into a bag along with with whatever else you have to bring with you on a Monday morning. In summer it's doable, but in colder weather - not so much.
Ideas for a stylish "Bike Commuter Capsule Wardrobe" ... that totally needs to be a thing :)

I like the front tuck but it doesn't always look great, depending on the waist of the pants. If it's a thick sweater it can bunch up in front. I have found a side tuck also looks great sometimes.
All cream is the best best best !! Nowhere to go with it as people actually wear jogging pants to my office ! But I can only dream , beautiful ❤

The navy is so great. Years ago I watched a what not to wear television show on BBC America featuring two UK stylists Sara and ? They despaired that so many women wore black, they were huge advocates of color.
