    Honestly this is one of the best all time surf tutorials. I personally have been trying to get back out in the water and grow. Seeing this video really nails the issues I have to work on.

    kool stuff man..I tend to put some wax along the rails..being a Cold water surfer I always wear gloves and the rails are slippy to hold when duckdiving and general board handling..Ive often seen youtube gurus say never wax the rails and was wondering how much detriment it is to surfing..I feel its probably not as detrimental to a surf session as a surfboard rail to the nuggs..)

    • @TheSurfersJourney
      @TheSurfersJourney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point, I agree it would probably have little effect, but certainly there would be some added drag. Probably only an issue for intermediates and beyond

    Great video! Any tips on stopping getting tangled on my leash or am i just bad 🥲

    • @TheSurfersJourney
      @TheSurfersJourney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jak. How you store your leash can be the problem. Try and keep it straight, rather than tangled in a board bag.

    I started learning to surf about 15 yrs ago in my early 20s before moving away from any surf. I'm now living near surf and I've now got a 9 yr old daughter that's joined the surf life saving club and now have the opportunity to get back into surfing. I'm trying to practice the pop up at home and am really struggling with it. I'm pretty fit for a 39 yr old but it seems to really kill my knees trying to use them in the initial pop up without using the tops of my feet or toes. Any advice? I would say I was roughly at the level of this video before, but now trying to stand again.

    • @TheSurfersJourney
      @TheSurfersJourney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Matthew, great to hear that you are finally getting back in to surfing. When you push your chest up and are getting ready to pop up, rather than going to your knees, see if you can perform a 'burpee' from that position, and go straight to your feet. If you are practicing at home, you can practice the same thing. If you have a bosu ball you could practice landing on that. Does this help?

  • @stuartlloyd1035
    @stuartlloyd1035 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey dude just a question how do you jump up do you use your toes on the back of the board or use your knees cheers

    • @TheSurfersJourney
      @TheSurfersJourney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Stuart, when I lift my chest up my weight shifts onto the front of my legs, from that position I perform a 'burpee' type of move, so I don't really put any weight on my toes or knees, but rather perform an explosive pop up...Does this help?
