Literally this statement hit my brain when I realized how people were claiming about corona virus being mentioned in their holy books.

Why you need to know scriptures? Ask them to open and show it to you. You will easily see (that if they find it cause most of the time they are simply repeating claims from whatsapp university) how it has been (mis)interpreted to fit into the knowledge today 🤣🤣🤣

It was very disappointing to watch the professors and "scientists" who were asking questions in the original video with Ravi Shankar -- their sheer fawning attitude is cringeworthy. Respect is one thing, but their approach appears to be almost unbridled hero-worshipping adulation.
If THESE are the intellectuals who are at the cutting edge of sceptical scientific enquiry in India, and if this is really the unquestioning servitude that they have towards a supposedly enlightened (Hindu) religious preacher, then the research done in institutions in India is likely to have very little hope of making any significant contribution to the field of science.
I shudder to think of the plight of any student or researcher under these professors, who dares to be rational in his/her approach towards religion.
At the same time, given the mindset of the current ruling dispensation of the central government of India at the time of this comment -- i.e., in January 2022, with the said video apparently having been uploaded about 2 months earlier -- I cannot help but wonder whether at least some of the professors and scientists were somehow "coerced" into playing their respective roles in the video.

*Please see the original video of Double Sri and the persons who ask him questions.*
The video clearly gives the names of those persons, the positions that they hold in their respective institutions/organisations, and the designations of those persons
They are PhD students, and professors from places like
the Indian Institute of Astrophysics in Bengaluru

*I am NOT supporting Double Sri.* I too strongly feel that there is some politics involved in this becuase, of the nature of the mutually beneficial relationship between Double Sri and the Shah-Modi BJP's Central government of India.
Those institutes are funded by the central government. So I will not be surprised if those persons were somehow compelled to behave in such a way with Double Sri.

Good for you. The main purpose of religion should be to encourage introspection so that we can be more aware about our mind and how it behaves and eventually it can calm down from constantly chattering and we can be silent.
But unfortunately today almost all the religions just spread pseudoscience, superstitions and dogmas. And some go on to explain the world and its laws which is totally stupid because nothing about the world is revealed in introspection. It only gives an insight about our own mind which is enough. There is no need for religion to interfere with science in any way and it should not.

One video Id like you to make is about "animal telepathic communication", where apparently experts telepathically communicate with your pets (or even random animals) to understand their needs/wants/desires. This has surprisingly flown under the radar, and even otherwise rational folks in my circle are completely unquestioning about this practice which doesn't have any scientific merit or evidence (ancedotes don't count).

Yes, all cultures had great intellectual geniuses but some or the other way dumb too - it should never be for cultural superiority. We want to learn about the world as it is and not as we want it to be! Nailed it - a pure self-serving bias that needs to be addressed at the high school level. Unfortunately - no one is addressing about it and even some of educated people do not have any idea about self-serving bias, hindsight biases, and cognitive biases. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a great genius and a spiritual master who has enlightened us with his wisdom and teachings. He has revealed the secrets of ancient Indian scriptures that contain advanced scientific knowledge that the modern world is yet to discover. He has shown us how science and spirituality are compatible and complementary, and how they can enrich our lives and society. He has quoted from authentic sources that have been verified by many scholars and sages. He is not misleading anyone, he is inspiring them to explore the deeper meaning of life and spirituality. He is not against science, he is showing how science is incomplete without spirituality. He is not making up things, he is interpreting them in a logical and rational way. After you do art of living course (esp the advanced meditation course) then u will realise that he is right by experiential knowledge rather than just theory.

I fully appreciate how much detail u put in your criticism of ravi shankar's statements, without ever attacking him personally. U are a very mature critic & I find a lot of so called "rationalists" dont have your maturity. The only thing we cannot be sure of is : how much of an impact the invaders had on wiping out our scientific knowledge. Its very difficult to assess it today . it may or may not be true & i dont think ravi shankar provokes anyone towards extremism. it may just be his opinion.
The state of indian science education is well mentioned. I am one of those people who learnt & appreciated science INSPITE of my science education. seriously, almost everyone from family to teachers tried their best to destroy my passion for learning : the same way u mentioned " its just for a job, etc , what is the use of passion ? it wont get u a job etc etc. its our cultural blindspot & lot of effort is needed to change it.

Very rational arguments. Here are my thoughts, some might not fully agree with yours. The scriptures I think, follow a top down approach, simply because the derivation of that particular logic is lost in time. Take for instance the Ka ta Pa ya Di sankhya, which provides the value of pie.
I am an avid watcher of the Veritasium channel. Do watch the video - ' Math has a fa flaw'. The example for set theory, sounds eerily similar to the shanti mantra.
I think Science and humanity is rediscovering things which was already discovered or rather trying to formulate things which can be proved or observed in nature whithin the realms of physical laws. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith to understand things which is beyond normal understanding. What looks scientific now was magical/fictional earlier. For instance planes/smart phones. Similarly what looks illogical now could have been scientific earlier. Just because we don't know how to prove something doesn't mean the thing or phenomena doesn't exist. For example the biggest miracle of nature is the anomalous behaviour of water (Density of ice being lower than water). The more you know the more it gets confusing. Try explaining quantum mechanics to a person who is not from science background, He'll find it gibberish. It all come down to perspective, how one looks at a particular idea. An open mind and analogy opens up possibilities for understanding things which might be scientifically complex but not easily relatable. Illogical analogies helps us to understand a difficult concept. Don't get hung up on the example, but try to look at the point one is trying to make.
I love science, that's what makes one open to ideas. Science is all about experimenting, that's what the ancients from different civilizations did. I think the Indian civilization was pretty advanced for its time, because even in this day and age of scientific advancements, people are trying to debate/quote/rationalise/disprove it, which itself speaks volumes of its inherent knowledge within. The point is if it were so illogical it would not have stood the test of time. Illogical concepts do not pass the test of time. There is an element of truth in every thing all we need is an eye and an open mind to see it. The concept of time dilation is also explained in the story of King Muchukand and Kalyavan (Story of Shri Krishna). The concept of multiverses is touched upon in Shri Krishna's childhood story (Destroying Bhramha's ego). The concept of self replication is explained in Rakhtbeej vs maa Durga. One finds knowledge where he wants to see it. Just like one prove or disprove anything. There is no such thing as right or wrong it all depends on perspective, level of knowledge which one holds at that point of time. Galileo was killed for saying that the earth was round, and that the solar system was Heliocentric and not Geo-centric.Another example of thing which was laughed at earlier is now common knowledge.

If we can found some similarities between scriptural mantra and modern physics concepts, can we still say that if its not matching 100% ,it means its not related at all.
May be we are not able to elaborate it for now because its not that much discriptive. But when we relate it with todays discoveries we can find this relatable.
I am not saying current discoveries are just re discoveries and already know everything, but if something is written there and its being proved even 50% , then still we can appreciate it.

    1. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is different from Sadhguru, totally different
    2. He never speaks or relate science with spirituality , and the moto is always clear i.e Yoga , meditation.
    3. He might have said in some talk of his discussion with some scientists who attend his program
    4. But that does not mean he tried to mix science with it , his programs are genuine yoga programs any body can attend.
    5. He teaches meditation and yoga n runs an NGO. without using science but people want to hear so he sometimes tells his discussion.
    6. You research on what he said in some few videos but not on him much

When in one rational channel I told I am a scientist someone ridiculed me. But when I told him that I am an IIT Prof. he told me that is better. So as a mathematician I can't call myself a scientist. I guess we should surrender to religious thoughts and stop scientific education in India.

Wouldn't it be cool if one of these Godmen found the cure for cancer, or the key to the grand unifying theory in their ancient texts, instead of always claiming credit retroactively? Despite having all of the secrets and answers, these magical texts have not once been useful for scientific advancements.

@6:24 you can get to many places with introspection, consider the maths solved to interpret the data from the james webb telescope. Rationalism is a valid form on inquiry, were it not maths cannot be trusted as a system. Economics, namely praxeology also relies upon deductive reasoning rather than empirical observation. All observations require a prior assumption for the observation to be compared with. Empiricism does not exist in a vaccuum.

Hi, my name's Ariz I am a science enthusiast just like you and I deeply research in topics of related to the myth of God,religion and the public misunderstanding towards evolution. I write a lot and my works are mainly commentaries on such topics from a psychological viewpoint but I also self study physics and try connect the dots to debunk religious dogma. I have some insights on the question of morality. If you are interested I would like to share my understanding with you and basically work with you for this channel because I think it's high time that the scientific temper of our society needs to be restored. I ll be waiting for a reply and look forward to getting in direct contact with you.

Good job sir. I too love science. Science is measurement and observation agreed but why science should be against spirituality. Humans have intellect, the object of which is truth nd we have free will, the object of which is goodness. Genuine faith never sacrifices reason. True Faith is not against reason. Faith is on the far side of reason. Faith is going beyond what can be known and controlled. If people want to live in the realm of what can be observed r not wrong at the same time if some want to go beyond what can be observed like a child which wonders at everything beyond its own ego self even those minds are not wrong. Science may be dope but faith is love and hope in a objective reality that can be known with little bit of humility and trust.

Honestly i loved the video... ❤️...i remember a way back (guess in 2009or 2010)when my cousin's mom took me to his satsang ..as they call him Sadhguru... When i first heard what he said in #satsang ...i knew he was a big time scam ..my friggin instincts, my energy 😂😂, my brain was what does he think of himself...nd i looked around how like total sane people were buying the bull ... thankyou for this video...
Also what do you think about the author/ guru of the book..."autobiography of a yogi"... Although he is no more...but still people follow
