Before update diver went absolutely batshit insane with selling out harpoon and taking 6 cacti, since spikes count as "ranged" weapon activating the bonus. Now its just not worth it. RIP. =-/
@@sinner5452it’s just not a mechanic that works well within the game. The latest change is precision weapon focused and you can safely ignore ranged damage.
I think one of my favorite things about watching these Beta runs is that you all have such wildly different “solutions” for them. Retromation started with Shredder then ditched it for an SMG he found early, eventually just riding six SMGs… and notably also making sure to buy XP and Range items at every chance. Both won. My winning run was with Shotgun, which fires slow but hits multiple times (and incidentally got nerfed at level 4, it only launches six projectiles now instead of eight)
Started watching your videos for BG3 stuff, and now because of you covering Brotato I've spent far too much time in the game, having beaten Danger 5 with a few characters...keep it up!
I really like the Jerky item. It spreads out consumable healing over 4 seconds but has no limit (as yet I’ve found) to how many consumables you can take, making a wave of pseudo regen.
An observation about the new bloated enemies that fire off projectiles on death: Melee damage does four shots, and Ranged does 8, HOWEVER, Explosions count as Ranged damage for those enemies which makes Plank (IMO) much more difficult (or the Golem character) since you are in melee ranged having to dodge 8 shots instantly spawning in your face. I hope they change that interaction.
something to note, blob fish spawns 6 lampreys and 1 cursed carrier. so if you want to build up more curse, blob fishes are great to break but you just gotta make sure you can handle the lampreys
During this run, 40 items were locked, and 8 of them became cursed. 8/40 = 20% Cursed Fish Hook works 21% of the time. Conclusion: Fish Hook is working as intended.
Why would you buy a helmet that gives +armour but -speed when you have the power generator? +1 armour, +1 hp -4% dmg and -2% speed doesnt seem worth it for me.
hmm, it seems like its worth locking a few of your intended weaopns when you are able to. since curse stays through upgrades, getting 6 claws cursed even as lvl 1 lets you curse all 6 stacks when you combine them in.
I think if you combine a cursed weapon with a non-cursed item it averages the two. It's better to get a higher level cursed than to combine non-cursed with cursed to level up. Not sure about that but I think that's close to what's happening.
The Javelin seems very op imo. I won very easily with the pre-buffed Creature on both maps in the first try. And it wasn't that difficult with the Javelin with other characters either. I had trouble with the DLC, but the Javelin makes it easier. Thoughts?
Have you seen what happened to the Diver? They "buffed" it to accidentally being the best class (but worst designed) in the game??? So the Diver now deals -100% ranged damage, but 200% crit damage when you crit with a Precise weapon, increased Crit modifieds, HP regen from melee damage, and 200% damage from melee damage when you hit an enemy with a ranged weapon. The idea is you used ranged weapons to "debuff" enemies so you can deal increased damage against them. ... but you can COMPLETELY IGNORE that, because they made a class that deals 200% crit damage and has increased crit modifiers and has HP regen from melee damage. I honestly don't know why, with those enormous bonuses, you would even care about the ranged damge debuff playstyle? I don't know what they were thinking here!
I suppose claw and other fist weapons are really bad in cursed runs in general, just coz with miniscule range you do not damage the crowd of cursed enemies following you around.
Nah. That would not be fun, that would be must-have item basically, and run without it would be just bleak version of what your character could be. 50% is 6.25% chance to _not_ corrupt any item in full locked shop. Even 21% chance on item locked to simply win is quite insane tbf. And hook is not even unique item... And they buffed it. Its 28% rn on cursed hook. I feel like to make in fun it just need to be normalized: failed roll should increase percentage of success and vice versa. Same as karma dice works in BG3, or crit in LoL.
@@sinner5452 it's already going to be must-have for any serious endless runs, instead of rerolling to get early hunting trophies it'll be that + need to fish hook a cursed belt, cursed greekfire etc (and still nothing beats demon for endless regardless of all these items)
@@azngoku666 Yeah, but imagine 50% chance -) Also i feel potential in a guy who can steal item once per shop, since you basically can not buy anything in hight endless runs. Dont think it can outscale demon but it could be second pick.
the jerky provides multiple Independent stacks of healing over time if you pick up multiple consumables
Yeah, it's actually pretty busted! Really good item
24:33 "cursed walrus who, who i saw open for linkin park in 2005" comedy gold
A creature with a cursed chain saw, sounds like an 80s horror movie.

I tried cacti club with creature. Unless I missed something, the spikes didn’t seem to use the 50% curse
If you listen closely you can hear in real time the sound of my heart breaking as I realize the curse damage doesn't get applied to the thorns

thank you for this!
Math!
Thanks for doing the math!
I think the creature is my favorite potato from the dlc :) The curse mechanic is just sooo fun
Just FYI, the cursed bag was +23 when you picked it up. It didn't change.
I really dig these videos. Thank you for being awesome.
Edit fixed the word dig

Ohhh, thats why I was able to beat it today. Yesterday i was not able to
low range weapon are big no no for this update I guess
Can’t wait for a 3mo creature mutant loud
The Hard version was super fun, I had an easier time with this character than I did most of the other new characters.

Jerky is really good and I take it on every character now lol

Pretty sure it’s free right now, as it’s available under the beta’s section.
You mentioned a second channel. Can you or anyone else please tell me it's name? I can't seem to be able to find it :)
Nope, no second channel! Not sure what I said that sounded like it, but this is it!

Cursed walrus really fell off when they switched from heavy metal to ska

💯

How much is the DLC?

I swear the fish hook is bugged, it seems to work considerably less often than it should
