Think >> Clean House .. Now the clean out of players . Massive wage bill reduction. which will pay for all the developments in the Ground. < VERY MUCH NEEDED.
Think >> Future .... Watch a brand new team built with the U23s and MAJOR Investment with players that are young and hungry for success . >> This will carry on when promoted back to the Championship with even more investment on players and more added U23s to the Squad.
Short pain for MAJOR GAIN!! >> STAY STRONG !!

Been a blues fan for 50 years. As soon as it gets close to next season the passion and expectations return and watching blues will be just as addictive, especially if we start winning a lot of games. It's blues we support and that doesn't die. Looking forward to watching a new blues team and hopefully better times. Blues til death, Andy H

Your videos have become almost a form of therapy this season, a true comfort blanket in what has been a miserable experience. I went for my usual run this morning and all I could think about were the missed points too, all those moments that could have gone the other way and kept us up. Thanks to the both of you for all the great videos, they've been the best part of this season's journey and I look forward to them next season as we start our next chapter. Blues don't do merry-go-rounds, only rollercoasters and I think that's one of the reasons we love them so much. All the best and enjoy the summer, we go again in August!

      "Blues don't do merry-go-rounds, only rollercoasters" 😂
possibly my favourite quote of the day yet and you are totally right.
Would we have it any other way? I love this club and the fans and everything about it. Even the chaos is part of the journey as a Blues fan. We are used to it by now.
We will still be there in August getting behind the boys and I can't wait to hopefully see a really solid team after a brilliant summer recruitment and stability with a manager and regular starting 11. We are craving some sort of stability and normalcy.
We will still be posting over the summer albeit limited with no game action but we hope you enjoy your summer and we will be back in full force come September.

Absolutely gutted! The fans have always deserved better. From the Trevor Francis days to now unfortunately we have had more lows than highs. League one we will be everyone's cup final. Just hoping we can get some player's that are up for the fight to get out of the division because this season we had a lot of hiding on the pitch. Players away from home could hide at home the fans don't let them. We need players coming in that will show up week in week out wherever we play. I agree we need characters who are willing to play for the whole game. KRO

Nice vlog. As a RAMS supporter I can assure you that Div 1 is a much improved division. We were lucky to get out in only 2 seasons. We thought it would be a piece of cake, and so did Sunderland, Portsmouth, and Ipswich, so don’t be fooled into thinking it’s going to be easy. Poor refereeing, some ground surfaces are poor, some teams are break-your-legs brutal, and some are very limited as to how many visiting supporters their club can offer you. Mix all that in with some very good teams with their talent and I think you will be quite surprised as to how difficult the challenge is going to be. Finding quality players that are prepared, and happy, to play in Division 1 is also a challenge. Anyway, good luck, and I for one will be looking with interest to see how well you can adapt to playing in Division 1.

Thanks for the kind words and commenting mate, really appreciated.
I totally get that and thanks for the heads up. When you look at yourself, Sunderland, Portsmouth etc. It does prove that this is a difficult division. It is also a different style of football. A lot more long balls, a lot more physical and Blues this year have really struggled with that element to the game. We need some serious leaders, battlers and people willing for get stuck in for 90 minutes.
I guess we can be optimistic, we will have a good stadium, fan base, transfer budget and hopefully recruitment over the summer. Absolutely not saying we will walk anything or even have an easy time. It is going to be a challenge and adaptation however reasons to be optimistic :)
      Good luck next season! KRO!

I am sad but not surprised except for the Leicester result. Fair play to John Eustace. He was treated badly by our owners. Karma. It seems to me that when anything positive happens to us like our new solvent owners or winning the league cup back in 2011 there is a relegation but I am still hurting like many of
us. We played well yesterday but our survival was out of our hands. At least we now have financial security and maybe we can folllow Ipswich's success. Thank you for posting Gary and Matt. KRO

It's a really good question and we have done videos in the past about what players we could keep however that was assuming we would stay up.
Now we have officially been relegated I guess this changes again, we didn't pick many players with the assumption of safety so god knows who would we keep now, even less 😂
In short, being 100% honest I would keep: Sunjic (Lowering his salary) Bielek, Buchanan and Ruddy if he wanted another year. Laird maybe as an honourable mention but this is a chance to clear the slate and start fresh for me. We have a bit of money, let's rebuild.

In my opinion only John Eustace and his coaching team, and a handful of players come out of this season with any credit. Everyone else has played a part in our demise to a greater or lesser extent. I just want to see a big clear out now as I don't want to have to watch the same players going through the motions next season. The position of Graig Gardner should come under the microscope as well. Also, I don't want to have to listen to any more discussions about the type of football that we play, amount of possession, number of passes etc etc All I want to see next season is WINNING football and if we get out of League One by playing long ball stuff like Watford and Wimbledon used to fine by me!
For next season I want to see proven players being signed, particularly up front where we need at least one player who will get us 20 goals. Not people who we think might score goals, but players with proven records in League One.
After all of that we should be clear that it was our utterly pathetic away record that got us relegated. Our record:
    Home 36 points - 9th
    Away 14 points - 23rd
Why Rooney, Mowbray, Venus and Rowett couldn't get to the bottom of this says a lot. Putting Mark Venus in charge was a complete disaster.
It's funny that when the owners haven't needed to take action they have ie sacking John Eustace for no reason, but when they have clearly needed to be decisive and make changes they have been too slow to react. Steve Spooner is a trusted pair of hands and if he had been in charge while we took our time over a Rooney replacement we might well have stayed up.
At least relegation means that we can have big clear out. I for one can't wait! We've had to put up with second best for far too long, selling our own, home grown players while buying so many players that have been very disappointing.
    KRO

I totally agree about proven players. We need to look at leaders, grafters and people who are willing to fight for the club and badge. They also need to be physical, it's a very physical league. I remember watching an interview with Ben Foster who was saying from League One and below it sort of becomes a different game. A lot more physical. This certainly needs addressing.
Our away record has been a disgrace. 3 wins away from home is absolutely mental.

I've had a couple/few days to reflect on our season, and i felt compelled to capture my thoughts and share them. Apologies, as this will be a rather long comment 🤣🤣
Where to start.....it makes sense if I go back to the start of the season. The new owners come in, and there's just this sense of relief that we now have owners who care about the club and the overriding feelings are of excitement and optimism for the future. We started the season off really well. The Leeds and Plymouth games instantly spring to mind. Eustace, for the most part, was doing a brilliant job. The players played for him. Every team lodes matches, so we were never going to win them all. But the decision to get rid of him and do do in the manner which it was done was a disgrace. That decision alone caused so much damage and undid all the good work that had been done up until that point. The owners and the board got it so badly wrong. The vast majority of blame is on Cook. Then, to make things even worse, they choose to appoint Rooney.
I never wanted him from day one, and Rooney did absolutely nothing to change my opinion that the club had made a massive mistake. It can't be underestimated just how much damage was caused by the sacking of Eustace and the appointment of Rooney.
Whist we wouldn't have been promoted and 5th position in the league was one that could change easily given how results could go and the teams being quite close in amongst and around us, we wouldn't have been relegated. We would've finished in the top half/mid table nice and comfortable away from the relegation picture. Instead, what happened is the owners and Rooney tried to change too much and top quickly, and the confidence of the players drained, and our results were awful, and the atmosphere at the club became toxic. Rooney was never a bluenose, and he was never going to be one either.
Cook is a Bluenose who, for some reason, seemed to have forgotten what being a Bluenose was and is all about. Clearly, his time away from the city, he had forgotten his roots. I hope now after that colossal failure of a decision he has found them again. The thing is, it's not even possible to say that he made a good business decision. There was neither heart or head in what he did. Cook has so much to answer for, and I find it hard, despite all the good things that he has done at and for the club to forgive him.
This summer is absolutely massive. We have to overhaul the entire squad, but we do so now as a League One club. Players coming to the end of their contracts, loan players going back to their parent clubs, and of course, there will be players under contract that other clubs will want to sign.
Our business in the January transfer window wasn't great. It wasn't awful, but we didn't sign someone to go up top, and that's what we really needed to do. I appreciate that all clubs want and need decent strikers, and we most definitely did to help and support Stansfield, who was outstanding all season. It came as no surprise to see/hear that he cleaned up at the end of season awards. If only we could've stayed in the Championship, I really do think that we stood a very realistic chance of signing him either permanently or at the very least another season on loan. I highly doubt either of those things happening now.
Back to the managerial situation. Of course, no one could've forseen Mowbray having to take an extended period of time away from the club. He looked to be at the very least steading the ship. Unfortunately, when Venus was in charge, the ship soon became a wreck and was sinking fast. Unfortunately, the club reacted too slowly, and again, significant damage was caused to the team/squad, and we never recovered, and Rowett couldn't do enough to turn things around. Rowett made mistakes, all managers do, human beings after all, but one decision still baffles me and will continue to do so as long as I live and that was his decision to pick and start Burke against Rotherham and having to admit he got it badly wrong by dragging him off at half time. Burke wasn't injured he was just poor. He let Rowett down, but then Rowett let himself down by picking him. That being said, Rowett, for the most part, did better than not, but he didn't have long enough time to turn things around.
Different players played better under different managers, with only really Stansfield being the one that was consistently picked and performed the most consistently from the start to the finish of the season.
Out of all the managers we had last season, Eustace got the best and the most from the squad overall. I firmly believe that we should've stuck with him and then evaluated at the end of the season to see where we go from there. Obviously, that didn't happen, and we are where we are. Yes, the players are the consistent and common denominators over the course of the season, but for me the managerial changes be that in or out of the clubs control, i believe are the most significant contributing factors to us being relegated. That's not to excuse or defend the players as many have let themselves, the club, and the fans down.
We now need to recruit for league one and hope that we can get back into the championship ASAP.
Obviously, there are the ambitious plans to move to a new stadium, and in the meantime, there are plans to spend further money and make changes and further improvements to St Andrews. Being in League One is a major and massive blow in terms of those short-term plans. There's absolutely no disguising or getting away from that. Whilst League One, in some ways, will bring a bit of excitement of visiting new grounds and I'm sure away fans will want to travel to St Andrews. The club will seriously have to look at its pricing for season and match day tickets and corporate and hospitality packages costs/charges. So, getting relegated from both the football and business side of things means the club i would imagine have to reassess their plans for St Andrews. With the plans off the pitch that puts even more pressure to get the plans on the pitch right. If the plan is to still go ahead with the plans to change St Andrews then we need a team and squad that will get us promotion at the first time of asking and as we know, from other clubs that have found themselves in our position, there's absolutely no given that this will happen. I think Blues and Wrexham will be for most if not all teams in League One the big scalps, so we have that added pressure, too.
You couldn't make it up, could you. Right rant over. I feel much better now 🤣🤣 I do feel optimistic about our short and longer term future I really do (I appreciate it might not read like that at times, but I just wanted and needed to give my assessment as to where it all went wrong and the impact of being relegated to League One will have).
I hope the club get both the business and the football decisions right as the two go very much hand in hand. The club can ill afford to make anything like the huge mistakes that were made last season. So, no pressure 🤣🤣
I hope we see really big numbers turn out. The atmosphere before the games outside, where there's a real buzz (i know that there are the plans to further improve that experience) and the noise inside the stadium during the game itself is what we need to see and hear on a regular and constant basis. So please Blues get the plans and the pricing right to make sure this happens to compensate for the mistakes of last season and build momentum for the clubs future.
    KRO 💙

Yeah, I agree with the finances, if we can get the recruitment right then we should be big favourites to come straight back up. Relegation still doesn't not hurt but it's sort of what we expect now as blues fans. We have had 12 years of this in particular but over your 60 years probably known much worse times.

The positives are you may win the league next year and/or should make the playoffs... just having a winning mentality and feeling again in the stadium will feel good. In my opinion better to have a winning season in league 1 than 10 relegation battle seasons in championship like you have done. Sunderland is a good example to look at, down to league one and not there very long and you have better ownership now than they do who will spend money on players. Obviously recruiting proper players is key here but with your budget and if Mobray stays on you have every reason to be good again. Trust me winning even in the lower leagues feels better than losing in a higher league. You just feel good and positive on the weekends! Would be interesting to get Sheffield united fans views on this....

What can I say.....? I've been waiting for this video. What an unbelievable day yesterday. It's unbelievable in the sense that I can't believe what happened. Unfortunately, we left it too late, and sadly, when it's not in your own hands, there was the real danger that the unthinkable would happen, and sadly, for us, it did. However, we only have ourselves to blame. The table doesn't lie. We were the third worst team in the league.
The scenes at the end of the game with a minority (mainly kids but some adults too) were really disappointing to see. The stewarding left a lot to be desired so some training of how to deal with that sort of situation is needed, although it's not something that happens that often and the scenes of which I don't wish to see again. I have no idea how much that had an impact on the number of fans that remained to see the players do their season ending farewell lap. I'm pleased that I chose to stay.
I want to highlight two players, if I may. First of all, Jay Stansfield. The player of the season by an absolute country mile!
Of course there's so many reasons why getting relegated is so rubbish but one of those reasons is if we'd stayed up, i genuinely thought that we had a serious chance of signing Stansfield on a permanent basis or, at the very least, another season on loan, and then who knows.
I say we roll the dice on what would be as secure a gamble as gambles go.....
I say we ask him and Fulham to name their price and give them and what he deserves, or we at the very least have him back on loan again and go from there. We have nothing to lose.
Stansfield is by far the standout player of the season, both in terms of quality and commitment.
He's a proper pro. Clearly, he's a very grounded and settled family man who's mature beyond his years.
I will never forget his debut, which set the tone for the rest of his season. What a player. A proper Bluenose.
Sadly, already in his young life, he has suffered the trauma of losing his Father. His family will undoubtedly be so proud of the player that he is and, more importantly, the young man that he is. His Dad would've been and will be so proud of him looking down and his greatest legacy is his son Jay Stansfield.
Stansfield is without a doubt my favourite player down the Blues since the days of Christophe Duggary. We all know what Duggary achieved as a player, so I'm not comparing them in that way but it doesn't feel wrong in anyway to mention the two of them in the same breathe (comment). I just hope that Stansfield is a Blues player a lot lot longer. If ever a man had earned himself a name your price contract Stansfield is that man. In the modern world of football Stansfield is a shining beacon of what being a player should be about.
On that note, I feel it's only right to mention Juke. This is not how I hoped his time at Blues would come to an end. The fact he came out on his own with a gap from the rest of the squad felt like a very final goodbye. It's such a shame he was met with hardly anyone left to say goodbye to and us to him. An absolute Blues legend. He would more than do a job for us in League One so if the club were to offer him a one year contract I would be delighted. Head and heart speaking. Juke is the sort of character that we love and need. I would love him to continue his relationship with Blues as a player and as a coach be that included in his role next year or in future years.
A special mention to Wagner, too. The man is nothing but class. He will be hurting like the rest of us, not just from the perspective as an owner but as a fan. Wagner was really let down by Cook who has so much blood on his hands from this season (i do acknowledge all the good stuff that he has done too). But what's done is done, and I don't want to dwell on or end on that point.
The final words have to go to you two Gary and Matt. Your channel is so professional. Your content is always so balanced and you can't help but like the two of you and the wonderful relationship that you have with each other. You two epitomise why I love our club. Why I'm so pleased and proud to call myself a Bluenose. Thank you. Both of you. Proper class acts, proper, proper, proper Bluenose's. You take the time, care and attention to read and respond to all my comments. What I love about this channel is how engaging and interactive it is.
I look forward to seeing more of your videos in the off and pre season as well as the ones throughout the course of our 2024/25 League One season (hopefully the one and only 🤞🤞)
I hope you and all the other Bluenoses in the world have a brilliant summer. Thanks again, gents.

Thanks for commenting and always engaging with the channel Richard, we really appreciate the voice from you and other loyal blues fans who follow this channel.
We love this club and we were truly gutted yesterday. That drive home from the stadium was the lowest I have been for a long while. This is Matt on the comments today but my dad was in the car on the drive home and he was reminding me off the 1994 season and various other moments in the clubs history that he looks back on fondly and we basically said right there and then; let's make the most of it down there, let's see some new stadiums, experience some new matchdays and in typical blues fashion not give up and give it everything we have. We will come back stronger I have no doubt.
I think the recruitment has to be absolutely spot on. This is a different league with different styles of play. It is a lot scrappier and more physical. We need to be prepared for this and recruit accordingly. More aggression, desire, fight and willingness to get stuck in.
I can't add or agree anymore about Stansfield and Juke. Stansfield has made the jump up from League 1 to championship seamlessly and STILL managed to score 13 goals this season with the service our players were giving him. He will go on to score some serious goals in a team providing him more service. Juke is Juke, what a legend, it saddened me to possibly see his last game in a blues shirt. Hopefully they can re-negotiate and give him another year or possibly a coaching role? I just don't want to lose him from the club and if can stay connected somehow I would love that.
Thank you SO much for the kind words and throwing us into the positive area of the season for the club. It means the world to us that we can produce content like this that people enjoy and engage with and interact with the greatest fanbase! Don't worry we will still be producing content over the summer. Albeit at a lower volume but we will be bringing the transfer rumours, the in's the out's the ups the downs.

@SmallHeathAllianceFC Yeah, sadly, the recruitment does have to be very different to give League One the respect that it deserves. We will obviously be one of the bigger clubs in the division, but as we know, given other clubs that have gone down, it's not easy to bounce straight back at the first time and the case of some clubs stay there for some time or worst still drop down further.
However, I think that the club will have learnt from the mistakes made that cost us our championship status.
100% agree about keeping Juke at the club in a coaching capacity. It's not Goe me to say if he has a season or two left in him as a Player at Blues and the club to sit down with him with regards to their thoughts on the situation. If he's to move on, then I know that he would be made more than welcome back at St Andrews or the new stadium for a visit or as part of the backroom staff.
I'm fortunate to have seen the two biggest games in my lifetime. The Cardiff Stadium play off final and of course the Carling Cup final at Wembley.
I hope that we will enjoy more days like this in the future. Amazing memories!!
Thank you, Matt, once again for your very detailed and personal response.

Yeah we were chatting about this earlier today; Portsmouth, Derby, Ipswich and even Leeds have spent time in league 1 and found it difficult to escape. I think if we have a good summer recruitment we stand a very good chance of coming back however it will not be easy as it will be such an overhaul this summer the team, players and manager need time to gel. We will make the most of it that's for sure :)

The late goals conceded, underperforming players, changes in managers, on field mistakes, not getting a striker in January, the manager merry-go-round..,,,,,,,,,,, It goes on an on. Yes, the board and Gary Cook made a real blunder but they have will also done so many other things off the pitch to start to set the club up and build for the future and I think that is also worth remembering.

I am not understating the importance of that decision it absolutely had a huge impact on our season and I'm sure behind closed doors they will do a post-mortem so to speak and I'd love to be a fly on the wall for those chats to see what he says but yeah, he has a lot to answer for, for that decision.
For me, other factors add to that decision too. for me like the player's attitude and the team's physicality, the recruitment, Mowbray sadly taking ill that no one could have foreseen (we hope he is recovering well) and various other elements. The perfect storm of rubbish on a truly awful season.
We go again next season and we will all be there getting behind the team I'm sure.
      Very best, KRO!

Leauge one is rubbish poor standard most teams play long ball. Birmingham should win leauge one easy. You will be favourites but not easy look at Portsmouth they took 7 seasons to get out.

      Thanks Lee!
100% a different style of football and much more physical game too. We need some good recruitment in the summer as it will be a transition and we have to bring in more players with desire, passion and can actually fight for 90 minutes, this has been missing this season.
      Very best, KRO!

@SmallHeathAllianceFC thanks I like your podcasts, I'm a Reading fc fan and I know leauge one is rubbish lucky Reading survived and with new owners we should make the playoffs next season, there's a few decent teams in leauge one. Look forward to playing Birmingham city at the select car leasing stadium
