Again, thanks so much for posting this series. It’s taken me years to find it and I can only find about 8 episodes on Amazon, but, that’s it!!! Thanks again, Nick in NY.
Yep, though based on history Sharpe is essentially a traditional story of a glorious hero that is honourable in battle gets the girl... same as every benard cornwell book, but hell there still a great read.
would love to know why Captain Frederickson is not in this one! grrrr..... one of the best! the eye patch, false teeth, and a wig made from horse hair. Brilliant!
That right. My guess? Price is actually a Time Lord, with each Regeneration, becoming tougher and better at fighting Britain's enemies. That would also explain the presence of the various Captain Prices in the Call of Duty games, it's all the same person through multiple Regenerations. ...if nothing else, it's a gentler explanation than "the writers of the show forgot their own continuity."
@MsFrenchmen in the 18th century they were not up to british standard, infact the only ones that were up to british standard were the portugese, if wellington had the army he had taken through the peninsula there would not have been a worry at waterloo X)
true, the British weren't the only ones, though the British were in direct combat with Napoleon's forces longer than the other groups during the battle (thus they glorify themselves, whether right or not) I'm not sure if the accuracy with the Dutch is like. They only feature the prince and his own guard, not the whole force, so I'm not sure.
Hahaha, that must have been a sight. The Prince of Orange chasing after his own men "come back you cowards!" I wonder who they were running from, the French or their own Prince? XD
@bookloverholic Yes, I know that! I thought he would have been called up by Sharpe thats all... like Hagman & Harris to boost the numbers on Orange's staff.
Wellington would not have stood if Blucher was not coming, and neither would he if Wellington had not been there. There was a certain amount of anxiety over getting the Dutch and Belgians to fight, as many had fought with Bonaparte on previous campaigns. However, as the battle proved, they stood bravely with the British, and so allowed the Prussians time to get to the battle. King's German Legion was a fearsome battalion of the British Army, who held 'La Haye Sainte' for most of the battle.
Jamie Ngo I love the moment when his cavalry are riding away and he is chasing them, cursing them and trying to get them to com back. I can just imagine one of them just shouting back for him to sod off and go away.
@Lachausis I would definitely agree with you, Napoleon was such a threat because many supported him and his goals, if there was not such a union of kingdoms france, prussia etc we would all be speaking french because many supported him.
@coolcraignvodka Fredickson was staioned with Canada, along with a lot of other Penninsula vetreans. A lot of experienced troops were stationed on garrison duty after the last war.
Prince of Orange: Sharpe, do you hear those guns sharpe? Far off, that's the Prussians pacing up the French, do you hear? *whispering* listen.. BANG! Prince of Orange: it's the French! My gawd, now they have guns. Wellington: Oh they always had guns your royal highness, but what they always had is to use a target. Wow, bang in there welly! tee hee
After so many disasters, whod have thought a British soldier like Sharpe would find his one true love with a French girl? Shes such a beautiful woman though. Jane sort of had good looks, such as a nice chest and all that but no beauty within herself as Sharpe says Good to see he finaly found true love after all the disasters. Too bad she wasnt around in the last two - Challenge and Peril
@coolcraignvodka Captain Frederickson did not re-enlist, or renew his commission, he decided to become a divorce lawyer, or bedroom lawyer as he put it.
If Napolean had crushed the allied armies at waterloo how different could history have become? Would have been an easier fight if Wellington's penisular veterans hadn't been sent off to the America's.
@Isildun9 Yeah I know that, but still, thought he would have enlisted / been put on the Prince of Oranges staff ie with a promotion to Major (as Sharpe recieved his promotion to Luetenant Colonel).... u get the jist any way... it would have been awesome =D
If Jane had simply had a brief affair, it wouldn't in all likelihood have bothered Sharpe seeing as it is something he himself has done from time to time.
Prince of Orange: "I'll charge LIKE A BOSS!" Cavalrymen: *stand still* "TROLOLO!" PoO: "Y U NO CHARGE" Cavalrymen: *turn away* "DEAL WITH IT" PoO: "FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUC-"
@MajBlood that would make many evil, everyone in history has tried, doesnt make them evil, makes them a)human, and b)power hungry he did many good things for the French people, and people in annexed states, read your history not everything he did was bad. in the end he was just ill, in the mind and body.
@DogDogCatDog no hes not they just fucked around with the order for the sake of the films, hence why hes a lt-col in the films challenge and peril and why hes best mates with harper. no offence.
Much better read they are limited with what they can do on screen it is told form a British point of view and as Sharpe states there is no way to way to beat Boney without the Prussians, the Dutch and Belgians.
@MajBlood Never mind that Britain had already taken over let's say a 1/3 of the world? Besides, for many in the Eastern Europe Napoleon' s successive campaign against Russians would mean a relative freedom from Czarist yoke. Many Poles thus participated in Napoleon's campaign. He was no more evil than British empire.
I love the look on Wellington's face every time he looks at the Prince of Orange. You can just tell he thinks the guy's a tool.
IndigoNeutrino that’s what we were all thinking
@flownet07 it was Silly Billy that was among the first to liberalize in 1848 as King of the Netherlands.
@flownet07 Correct.
Don't say that tools are useful.
"They've always had guns, your highness, what they haven't always had is you as a target." ROFLOL!!
Given that Napoleon served originally in the artillery I think it's a safe bet the French had guns :)
Again, thanks so much for posting this series. It’s taken me years to find it and I can only find about 8 episodes on Amazon, but, that’s it!!! Thanks again, Nick in NY.
"Right Love, I'm off to waterloo tomorrow...Any objection to me smashing your backdoors in?" Richard Sharpe 17th June 1815.
An episode portraying a battle with tens of thousands of soldiers done entirely close ups, now thats budgeting!
I have only one joy in the end of this series that LtC Sharpe is completely over Jane. Im so glad he only wants his money.
'I dont mind men running, as long as they come back!'
Thousands of lancers?! More like a dozen or so. Lol. 😄
vision is just amazing in this role suits him well
The Prince of Orange's cavalry refusing to follow him in a frontal attack on massed French Lancers? Now that's soldiering
Lol they were like "Bruh. Really. Go and charge at them whilst we sensible Dutch stay here"
In reality the Dutch fought bravely though. And the Prince wasn't a retard.
10:03 Same road where Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein found Geoff Chaucer strolling stark naked.
Wellington demonstrates how to cheer up a retreating soldier, the Prince of Orange chases them with a sword and insults
Lucille was such a piece!
"English, Dutch, Belgian, thousands of them ..." more like 100 being marched round the house all day, gotta love the budget =)
those cavalry could teach a thing or two to the trololololol guy
Yep, though based on history Sharpe is essentially a traditional story of a glorious hero that is honourable in battle gets the girl... same as every benard cornwell book, but hell there still a great read.

You picked a fine time to leave him Lucille ..... four hungry children and .... well, you know what you've done.
I LOVE SHARPEEEE,THE SERIES THAT IS,CHEERS SHIN,NICE WAY TO END THE DAY.NS
the times of the republic were the best times we ever had
Love the way the cavelry just look at him
I love how all the women swoon when Sharpe leaves..After the poor guy pissed his pants...They got too see the mans Man vs Coward..
true, the British weren't the only ones, though the British were in direct combat with Napoleon's forces longer than the other groups during the battle (thus they glorify themselves, whether right or not) I'm not sure if the accuracy with the Dutch is like. I feel so sorry for the Prince, an entire cavalry ignoring him! lol
certainly better than any time before for the french people, and certainly some of the best times till modern times
Hahaha, that must have been a sight. The Prince of Orange chasing after his own men "come back you cowards!"
I wonder who they were running from, the French or their own Prince? XD
Yes but she also robbed him blind. Sharpe may have been a womanizer but never a thief!
You think all his wealth is from his salary?
lol!!! the dutch cavalry just turned around and trotted away XP
@bookloverholic Yes, I know that! I thought he would have been called up by Sharpe thats all... like Hagman & Harris to boost the numbers on Orange's staff.

This is just making me laugh lol NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COME BACK YOU COWARDS!!!!! Just need a Vader scene quite frankly
Jamie Ngo I love the moment when his cavalry are riding away and he is chasing them, cursing them and trying to get them to com back. I can just imagine one of them just shouting back for him to sod off and go away.
he did at first, thats how he rose o power, by comanding a legion in the army
@Lachausis I would definitely agree with you, Napoleon was such a threat because many supported him and his goals, if there was not such a union of kingdoms france, prussia etc we would all be speaking french because many supported him.
Yes. It says that on wikipedia too. Maybe they forgot that the character was already dead, lol
'I will lead them!
They're screwed then..
Yes he commanded his military during all the battles. TH-cam search his battles in Gaul and against Pompeii in Greece.
Lucille is his life.... B.B. Sharpe.
@coolcraignvodka
Fredickson was staioned with Canada, along with a lot of other Penninsula vetreans. A lot of experienced troops were stationed on garrison duty after the last war.
think he was just injured but probably explains it more in one of the books that isn't made into a tv program yet.
"Where are you're men?"
"Fighting" *Gives uxbridge dirty look.
YEA GO SHARPE!!
sharpe is so cool
Prince of Orange: Sharpe, do you hear those guns sharpe? Far off, that's the Prussians pacing up the French, do you hear? *whispering* listen.. BANG! Prince of Orange: it's the French! My gawd, now they have guns. Wellington: Oh they always had guns your royal highness, but what they always had is to use a target. Wow, bang in there welly! tee hee
"I am without fear".....
Now THERE is a real soldiers woman!
After so many disasters, whod have thought a British soldier like Sharpe would find his one true love with a French girl? Shes such a beautiful woman though. Jane sort of had good looks, such as a nice chest and all that but no beauty within herself as Sharpe says
Good to see he finaly found true love after all the disasters. Too bad she wasnt around in the last two - Challenge and Peril
Shells explode. Usually above the groud though.
@coolcraignvodka remember, he quit the army to become a Marriage Lawyer
so harry price is back? wasnt he shot by hakeswill a while back?
Paul Bettany is awesome
Wait! I thought Harry Price was killed in Sharpe's Comany?
What happened to him?
Sharpe aims sword at officer and scares him to making him piss himself
That’s soldiering...
But why isn’t the piss yellow?
are the british troops with the fluffy hats highlanders?
sweet, scottish soldiers. fear the kilts, ya bloody frogs, fear the kilts!
Shame they couldn't get the original Harry Price actor back, he was great. But how did he survive getting shot by that irish dude?
Yes, he does. Actually in Sharpe's regiment Prince Regent didn't differ much
is that paul bettany ( the prince )? lovely.
in the books cornwell gives credit where it is deserved and admits the brits would have been slaugtered if not for the prussians
@ooolSPYooo Amen to that, amigo!
ah but ceasar didnt command the battle, just rule over the empire with the military, right? or did he lead the armies himself
@coolcraignvodka Captain Frederickson did not re-enlist, or renew his commission, he decided to become a divorce lawyer, or bedroom lawyer as he put it.
The Battle of Waterloo was won by Zombie Harry Price and his Company of the Undead.
I think that was Robert Knowles. Hard to remember since most of his lieutenants got killed. I think Price survives in the book.
whats the black watch?
@ViccardXViccc Haha, I very much am! Cheers mate, good of you to take the time!
i love this part with orange chasing his own troops cause then ran lol lol
@moleman9000
at this time they do. they have fuses and do explode.
is it me or is the prince just always chasing his own men
5:00 LOL

True but I think a better thing would be Cesar to Napoleon.
welll they were like the only two to rule europe using superior military might
wounded yes, but not killed.
theres no good guy in a situation of battle between the 2 largest empires at that period.Just means the smaller countries get crushed in between
If Jane had simply had a brief affair, it wouldn't in all likelihood have bothered Sharpe seeing as it is something he himself has done from time to time.
Is the Prince Chasure from knights tales.
FFS when they making the next Sharpe.
didn't harry price die in sharpe's company the one with te siege of badajoz
thats true but duke of wellington admitted as much
Prince of Orange: "I'll charge LIKE A BOSS!"
Cavalrymen: *stand still* "TROLOLO!"
PoO: "Y U NO CHARGE"
Cavalrymen: *turn away* "DEAL WITH IT"
PoO: "FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUC-"
Where is the guy with the furry heat from?
Price is shot by haixwell (:s spelling) in company isnt he? Cant remember what actually happened in the books!
I think it was... Hakeswell was holding Sharpe and Teresa's baby hostage...
10:15 LMFAO
Maybe the explosions are from shells.
He was a staff officer at that time
@MajBlood that would make many evil, everyone in history has tried, doesnt make them evil, makes them a)human, and b)power hungry
he did many good things for the French people, and people in annexed states, read your history not everything he did was bad. in the end he was just ill, in the mind and body.

he resigned two episodes ago. started a carier as a lawyer in london
@Lachausis well, he did do a lot of invading, just none of the genocide. Half way there lol.
hey max read the series" you have to be french" typical
@MajBlood Never mind that Britain had already taken over let's say a 1/3 of the world? If anyone tells me what the music is as the Dutch charge, I will be forever in their debt.
@grimblebrumble17889 oh yeah he was. I'm thinking about a different officer!
@mrbodhranhead I know, but still would have been awesome to see him in this one :)
@coolcraignvodka i think he retired after revenge. became a marriage lawyer
