      @@Realistick Is the GR corolla easy to start from a stop as far as being resistant to stalling? I heard that the Civic Si has a good gearbox, but you have to pay close attention to get it off the line smoothly. I ask this as someone who hasn't driven a manual much and is hesitant to buy one as my only car. I have a 2022 GTI with DSG. But I'm considering trading it in for a manual to have something more fun. Is the GR a lot more fun than an auto GTI?

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@joezastawny932 it’s pretty easy to drive! It has a stall preventing feature, auto hold and auto rev matching (defaults to off). It’s more fun than a gti and much quicker in my opinion but if you don’t need awd and don’t care for the extra wow factor of it being a specialty Corolla. The GTI is much more comfortable and has a better interior in most ways. Plus the brakes and tires are less aggressive so it should be cheaper to upkeep. Especially if you consider the mpgs of the GTI and that it runs on regular.

    This was my exact experience when trying to buy a 2022 civic si. I called about 50 dealers all marking the car up from 5-10k which totally defeats the purpose of a 200 hp civic with a manual transmission. So, I ended up getting a 2022 Wrx!

    I got my GRC at MSRP. It was a MSRP only dealer. I had purchased a Sienna from the dealer a year earlier and called the day it was announced, April 1st, and put my name on the waitlist. I was 5th. Everyone ended up dropping off, I'm assuming some waited for circuit only, and I got mine start of March. I was also offered a '23 CTR, WRX, and Elantra N at MSRP in the interim. I was offered a CTR 2 weeks before the GRC, pretty tough decision. Overall, I'm extremely impressed, this thing is spectacular. In hindsight, if my budget were tighter, I would have absolutely gotten the Elantra N.
    Something I think that a lot of reviewers aren't highlighting is the fact that this comes with adaptive cruise control in lane centering, Toyota's third generation version. It is extremely good. It is not available in the WRX manual or the Elantra N. If you actually commute longer distances in your car, it is very valuable, and I would pay several grand for it. CTR has it, but MSRP is 5k more than a fully loaded core.
    It's totally doable to buy this at MSRP. You need to make a lot of calls. It may have been easier because I'm in the Midwest, but it can be done. If you're not on waitlists, you can probably get by with a 2k adm given interest rates, which I would still consider a bargain for how cohesive a driving experience this is. I wouldn't pay that, but I also was willing to wait a year.
    EVERYONE needs to refuse ADMs. Also you need to write negative reviews on these dealer's websites. You need to point out that these dealers are looking for every opportunity to fleece you and you need to stay loyal to the MSRP only dealers.
    You need to show dealers ADMs are short-sighted profits.

And while it's "just" a hot hatchback, let's not pretend it was a markup on an entry level Corolla like we saw all too often last year.
