The whole cast were absolutely outstanding in this movie.And Bruce Willis will always be an iconic actor. The title of this clip "Zippo" is genius as everyone who's seen this movie will know exactly the part it's going to show!
This movie is part of the reason I joined the military. Obviously wanted to be a seal 1st haha. But then my dad (Vietnam vet) told me the harsh reality of its brutal selection process. So I chose the next best thing haha. Hoorah! Respect to all the frogmen out there!
This scene has some truth to it. I remember reading somewhere that few of the actors/extras playing the African villagers personally experienced these atrocities during the Biafrah (might have spelled wrongly) war. This makes their reaction even more authentic and of course triggering their past trauma and reminding them of those hellish moments, which is heartbreaking.

I remember watching this movie very young and this scene always sticks in my mind. From the screams and cries, the crying woman in the graveyeard, the piles and piles of bodies, and the woman with her breasts cut...it makes you wonder "how can a man hate another man so much that causes these things to happen?"
When the camera pans on the people listening and you see them crying and scared - that was real. They weren't acting. It was a natural reaction when they heard the gunfire and screams from the village as if they were back home. Antwan the director flew the people in from Africa to Hawaii where it was filmed, so they could be part of the film.
Really well done movie for its genre context- good story line, character progression. Action, plot, dialogue..not citizen Kane, but just great compet t professional job. Deserved success.

So the best advice i can give someone if you need closure, go to new york and eat at Planet Hollywood. Its one of a few restaurant's owned by Bruce Willis. I sat at a table not looking around at first, and they have all these display cases with outfits, and props from all of the films Bruce has been in. This attire he wears in this film was right next to my table. No, i did not meet Bruce, but i had the honor to sit and eat, and staring at THE SAME UNIFORM, in reflection of knowing we'll never get a performance like this again..... But New York is where you can see his cool pieces of history. Also his die hard shirts with dried fake blood all over em
