DASH TANK 300 Vs DASH JIMNY JB74 OffRoad

- I’m in Sydney for the 4WD Show so what better time to skip out and do some wheeling. We have been developing the DASH JB74 in the background for the last year and now it’s time to go head to head with our new TANK 300. The big question is, will the TANK stand a chance against the pedigree Jimmy.
Get yourself a cold one and sit back and see how this plays out 🙌
Танк 300 начали продавать в России 5 месяцев назад. Я себе его купил в ярком оранжевом цвете практически сразу как он начал продаваться. Автомобиль великолепен и на дороге и на бездорожье :)
Very impressed with how little upgrades you have done to the tank and how well it did up those rocks 😊
You know I recon these Tank 300s will be the iconic game changer in the 4WD world….similar to what Datsun 1600 and Subaru WRX did for cars. What you have done is shown what some simple but effective mods can do. Great work guys excellent video.
Thank you for the comment and watching 💯💯💯
Spot on! THE OTHER COMPETITORS HAVE SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT NOW 😂 I wonder how Jeep, Suzuki and Toyota Hopper Mini Cruiser will compete?
@@DASHOffRoad check out tank 400 and tank 500 as well
why? what new it has? guzzling engine? problems with shaft? Сonstant knocking steering? Weak front gear? 322kg payload? Or what?
The shorter wheelbase certainly worked towards the Jimny's advantage. But sometimes you just need to have a larger car.
😂 High way driving for example. I feel nervous when I first driving the JK unlimit on highway. The amount of concentration required is actualy lot more than driving a Civic. Lol
I got a look over the new tank 500 hybrid yesterday. It will be very interesting to see them getting around with a few mods
I'm just hopping they can put the 3.0T v6 hybrid on the tank 500
Looking forward to tank 700 2024
That tank looks so clean from the side view, looks like every off-roader combined to form a supercar.
I know what you mean 😎
At the 15 minute mark, the jimny took a much easier line, im impressed by the 300, it took a much harder line and still got up
Even so, the Jimmy is more modified, higher and even though they apparently have the same tires, being higher makes the maneuver a little easier, the Tank is superior in 4x4 capacity but that Tank needs to lift a little more and some larger tires and better grip, plus it shows that the driver still does not have that much experience, look at Savage Tech Au or Do it in the Dirt and you will see the real capacity of a Tank
Awesome video! Tired of how some people talk trash about the Tank 300 just because it's made by a Chinese brand GWM. Your videos simply show the facts that the car is just as capable and offers incredible value for money. Keep it up.
Absolutely 💯
Great video Mr Dash, love the Tank 300 but it is not a 3 year old platform. It started life as the Haval H9 in 2015 (6spd) updated in 2018 with the 8 speed. H9 birthed the Cannon ute then the WEY Tank 300. Think FJ cruiser sans Prado. Sadly no one in Australia brought them, even at $43k drive away.
The Tank 300 is a real SUV and the Jimny is no match for it.
I saw the jimny driving through Menai the other day which caught me of guard a little seeing the dash off-road signage
That Jimny is sweet!! Hopefully they bring out the 5 door. That would be a good comparison (modified of course) vs the Tank.
The 5 door is already out, but only in India. I do not think it is coming to Australia though, unless something has changed
I have to say that the short-wheelbase Jimny really has a great advantage in climbing rocks, but I am still very satisfied with the performance of the Tank 300. After all, if I drive it myself, I will never drive on such an extreme road. I more need an off-road vehicle that can take my family out for light off-roading. It has a higher wading height, a higher chassis, a handsome appearance, and the Jimny is too small, so I don’t need to drag an RV. Tank 300 is very suitable.
I don't believe the tank has a high enough payload capacity for the following: family + cargo + heavy mods such as bars
@@cyclemoto8744 I think this is a result of the different car habits between our two countries. We rarely have the need to tow an RV, you can check these links to understand what I mean by light modification and light off-roading.:th-cam.com/video/OjnH-f74KYo/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/WrAtFyMPCdw/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/dtwz8i6NJLQ/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/ADSNX4EWKS0/w-d-xo.html
@@Tim-turbo-o I wasn't thinking about towing, the cargo capacity of the tank is less than 450kg which is useless as a touring 4wd in Australia (overlanding as the yanks call it). Cheers
@@cyclemoto8744they say payload is 400kg. Who give it crxp when you actually hauling your family. You get 2.5 to tow rating, the freaken touge load is probaly more that 400kg. Lol
@@cyclemoto8744 They just tested the capability of this 4x4 Tank 300 can do road & off-road mate, just like they've tested all the (brands/makes) 4x4s on-road and off-road, if that cargo capacity is worrying you then don't buy it.
Yes indeed the Tank will Rule supreme
Thise rocks scraps hurt me inside a bit. I don't think im built for rock crawl 😂 I'll stick to beach and muds
Snow, lot less harsh... Except the salt... Lol
i am really happy, i am getting one shortly and its 2024 already, thx for these videos its helpful to made-up mind, at initial stage i was planning to go for Rubicon but i am really happy i changed my mind, saved lots of money for maybe even better car...
great vids! plz show more vids when u hang out with tank 300
The tank is going to rattle a few cages for sure. Why spend double if you don’t need to?
I miss Menai, had so much fun there in my Y61
Reminds me of an updated longer wheelbase lada niva, in a good way
Funny seeing all these comments with huge names and numbers that are all commenting only positive things about the Tank and there is the same on every video with a Tank in it. Not fishy one bit and definitely not bots haha.
Jimny is just an absolute mountain goat, it's ridiculous how good it is. Tank looked decent too but really looking forward to the 5 door Jimny. In an Ideal world, a 5 door jimny with a little more umph would be insane.
The tank will blow away Jimmy for interior comfort and features and space, while not losing on the off road capability
@@aq3614 The Jimny has never been about comfort and interiors, the same goes for a 70s series. You buy it because you want a simple, reliable capable car for off-road.
The Jimny which is tiny next to the tank has pretty much the same GVM, that's ridiculous.
The tank is going to be a car that is used 99% to drop the kids off at school for mums and dads that want a car that has an off road look but when you actually look into it, they have cut many corners on it: Rear control arms are very slim, the mounts of the control arms are something you would see on a small SUV, Sway bar completely exposed, the exhaust mufflers are just waiting to be torn down on an obstacle...
then add things like: the break tests where the back wheels lift up, which is insanely dangerous.
Im sure this car will do well as its a style people like but don't get conned it's mainly as drop kids off at school SUV especially with that ridiculous low GVM weight
@@JesseHMR @MatazVerbier I am sure you haven't seen what the most experienced 4wd driver do with these tanks in the extreme conditions and roads and deserts, it's been selling almost 3 years in China and still selling extremely well now for its class, I have been watching heaps of real life tests of them since its released in 2020. Jimny used to be very popular in 4wd market in China, now with tank released no one buys them anymore, I understand your love about jimny, but things are always changing over time, and most people's mindset cannot catch up soon enough
@aq3614 I don't think you get my point and you are ignoring all the major issues I pointed out the car has and any person with basic off-road knowledge would know this. ;).
There's a reason Landcruisers, Patrols, Hiluxes etc reign king in tough conditions and people all over the world living in hard climates use them because reliability and parts availabilities are king.
As you say, the tank is similar to a Jimny with options, mainly for wannabe off-roaders, its GVM is terrible to be taken seriously. You can barely pack your camping gear and have 4 humans in the car without being over the GVM.
Toyota will be releasing the Mini Landcruiser, that's something to watch.
I've heard Tank300 parts are hard to get anywhere from your local stores unless you're from china Jimny parts can be found just about anywhere that is why Jimny is still selling well outside of China@@aq3614
Very impressive effort from you guys. Are you also going to compare it with prado and jeep? Cause I am really looking forward to that
I got attacked by a duck at the bottom of that hill were you guys stopped near the water about 35 years ago...🤣...that place has changed so much...We used to ride trail bikes out there...
Caught you in Menai yesterday. Just the odd patrol eh? Haha!
Love what you're doing, Subbed. Wish I took you up on your offer to tag along but we really in there all day, Catch you on the trails next time hopefully!
Awesome video guys I did see the video of the 300 series doing Beer o clock and the wombat hole’s track it was very impressive. But I definitely would stick with the Jimny way more cheaper to run and definitely more affordable. Than the 300 series.
The 300 is $49,000.
another great video thanks. I'm certainly keen to see what these are like in 12 months time and interested to see how GMW handle their warranty claims. Hopefully they've learnt what not to do from the likes of Jeep and Ford. All cars will break at some point but it's the aftersales service that is key. Will it be an awesome thing to own for 5-10 years or a nightmare? Time will tell.
With mod, I think lot of things wont covered any more. Unfortunetly
I agree, let's see what Tank 300 without mod can do for the actual warranty from the Tank 300 (Including full service from the Tank 300 car dealer).
Love it 🤩 so good, watch out for all the mainstream brands 💪
Is the tank the new Jimny recovery vehicle😂😂😂
Great tracks, looks like fun.
Most Sydneysiders would know where this was shot, a favourite spot of the Suzuki 4WD Club of NSW 😉
It seemed like the first tank driver was too hesitant, maybe the car wasn't his, so he was worried about damaging it 😂
I do love tank 300 ❤❤❤
Handled it really well. I noticed the sensors going off a fair bit again, can these be turned off? I think with new heavy duty rear radius arms, sliders and a rear bar it would really shine.
Yes agree. And yes there is a button to turn sensors off, but then the camera turns off too
@@DASHOffRoad Hopefully someone smart on a laptop can sort that out.
Is their any modification done in the engine? I can see in the suspension and tyres. What about the engine.
Another really good vid. Did you use the cameras to help pick your lines?
A little bit, but for this stuff a spotter was essential
If you want a Jimny with 4 doors, buy a Tank 300 + The Tank 300 has 5 stars safety rating, higher quality and better built interior.
it would be cool to see how it would go with the sway bars disconected
I was tempted
@@DASHOffRoadwe have electronic front sway bar disconnect system 😉
@@SavageTechAustralia hook us up bro 😎
@@DASHOffRoad done
Haha
How are you finding the yokie g003 ? are they durable in rocky terrain ? not concerned about on road i run 2 sets . obviously be great in mud but was tossing up between them and km3s for rocky stuff like gees and the pinnacles . cheers
Pretty happy with them so far
Use the Y62 PATROL please
Where do you get your signage done. Looks rad.
It’s from a company called Bush Barrier. Highly rate the product
@@DASHOffRoad Thank you.
Mate I'm keen to know how all your mods will affect the payload? I'm guessing you'll put a custom steel rear bar with tyre carrier, custom front bar (already done I think), rock sliders, snorkel & Airbox, bash plates, tow bar, roof rack, etc. Your payload is going to be about 2 passengers after all these bolt ons. I know you're all about pushing the boundaries, but you're pushing into legal territory with Al the extra weight. Judging from the construction of this vehicle, I. Think the 400kg payload is very conservative and some relatively minor mods can build in a decent safety margin. My concern is all the people who'll buy all gear with no idea of how it might affect the safety/dynamics of the vehicle and the pack in their 3 kids, solar setup, fridge, cooking and camping gear and then head down the highway with their 136kw tune. I get you're in the business to sell gear, but you need apply some ethics here and help to also educate your customers. BTW, cat converters provide a very important and regulatory function of reducing deadly oxides of nitrogen and other elements that kill kids, adults, animals and everything else. You have kids right, and you love em right? I like your channel, but encouraging you viewers and customers to delete something that's been implemented to save lives and the environment you enjoy so much is irresponsible, full stop. You got plenty of extra power from the increased boost and retune. A cat delete was unnecessary and unethical. I know you won't like to hear any of this because it interferes with 'your' profiteering and personal fun, but I reckon it might be a bit refreshing to see a channel that doesn't just encourage deleting pollution reduction mechanisms and tries to work a little bit harder and smarter to help ensure a future 4x4 fun legacy for the kids we love so much. Doing the same shit as everyone else is boring anyway, right?
The non EV will get an instant 158kg GVM increase I'm now told due to not having the extra weight of the batteries and EV motors, that pretty much rear bar, front bar and sliders instanly cancelled.
Mate, you're full of it and illusional, if you are so concerned about going green/saving lives, you should also protest to your government/world to stop using coal-burning or any fossil fuel that supplies the electricity to your home and family that enjoy now. This video is about testing Tank 300 (petrol version) capability. So please don't get too excited.
Note: 99% of the world is still using fossil fuels today.
Actually he didn't delete the cat, it was just the gpf. Not gonna do much damage
Your spotter needs to watch lite brite to see how spotting is done
😂😂 I came here to comment the same, left and right is reversed when talking to the driver 😂😂
Tank 300 vs Jimny Battle page incoming
Haha 😂
How are the E lockers holding up in the Zook? I'm assuming TRE or HF ones?
Still going strong. We should have the available on our website shortly
@@DASHOffRoad Which brand are you using/selling? I'd be keen, TRE seem to be the better made unit.
Would love to see jimny Xl
What's the elockers are you running in the jimny?
It’s a product we’re planing to release in Aus soon
is your jimny rear bar available ? looks mint!
Very soon. It’s all been tested, just awaiting stock for launch 🚀
so awesome, can you tell me how much it weighs with the carrier? @@DASHOffRoad
Any damages under the car?
I’ll have to check
Is one really going to take their off-road vehicle to such extremes?
Great idea to compare them but the wheelbase Tank is longer than Jimny, why dont you compare with the 5 doors Jimny make them comparison is fairer
I own both of these cars, that’s why we compared them, I don’t own a 5 door sorry
@@DASHOffRoad okay no problem but we can clearly figured it out. Tks
how big tires did you go with on the tank?
295/70/18
Time for 80 and prado now….
#tanktrack #tanktrackisamyth
Totally 💯 bro
What size tyres are on the Jimny? Thanks.
31.7s
@@WheelingWebber thanks, but that isn't a size, just a diameter. 😀 Are they really 235/85R16's? As that is the only tyre I know that would be that height. Not saying they aren't, but would be nice to know. Haven't seen or heard of many/any JB74's running this size. Lots running 235/7515's, but they are quite a bit shorter.
Hi mate
They certainly are 235/85/16s G003 yoko mts
Mr Dash how do you rate those Yokohama tyres?
Yokohama would be my favourite tyre brand currently. I’m running x3 different sets currently and all are performing well. All paid for too, not sponsored
@@DASHOffRoad awesome thanks for the response. That Tank 300 is very impressive although my concern is GVM so would be interested in what could be done to improve that and whether it is a big improvement or a moderate one.
The non EV will get an instant 158kg GVM increase I'm now told due to not having the extra weight of the batteries and EV motors, that pretty much rear bar, front bar and sliders instanly cancelled.@@aaronbright6387

I’m selling my 2013 4 door wrangler and getting this
Completely off topic but . Has anyone actually taken a delivery of their petrol tank 300 from a dealer? I can't see any on the road and mine keeps getting pushed back (non hybrid). Only press seems to have them.
I bought mine just like any other punter. Not press by any means 🤷♂️
The little Suzuki far better Japanese technology machine, as for the Jeep Chinese junk tank with its dodgey braking system. When the Chinese junker goes under heavy breaking the rear tyres lift off the ground and when it came down the big step it's braking system was very noisy and the driver seemed to have no confidence compared to the Suzuki. I feel sorry for the people who end up buying the tank. And it's not a cheap car, much better off getting yourself a good used Jeep Wrangler.
next is the BYD U8🎉
离出口应该还早着呢
Jimmny for the win. I dare say a Jimmny will last longer too. Like anything made by the Chinese, it will fall apart faster than a Tofu Dregg.
China has its own space station. Has your country made any progress in this regard?
@@believeingood5875 Well, China's "Spacecan" is little more than a Soyuz of Russian design. China only copies or steals, it has no ability to design. That being said; l fail to see your point. I highly doubt that any of the Chinese vehicles that are dumped here will last. They will rust and fall apart or catch fire. Made in China = Made to fail.
