I've noticed their stress levels can very quickly change their color. Me and my biology class had a school of bluegill and noticed when under more stress they dullen to almost black but when in a normal state they are vibrant
I just got a 55 gallon aquarium for Christmas, planning to put 2 bluegill in with a 'naturalized' environment. Do you think it would help if I added sand in one corner? I was intending on larger pebbles for the majority of it, but did not know how sand would affect them.
Way way way to small put the long ear back and get a couple rainbow darters or sumthing cool that you've got room for. And if you want that plant to make it long term you should have the leaves outside of the water not submerged that's a terrestrial plant
a blie gill at that size need at LEAST a 55 to live a some what happy life it wpuld be way more happy if you upgrade and move around more often STOP THE FISH ABUSE
I’ve never seen a fish like this! It’s like a green sunfish mouth on an actual bluegil body. Longear/ pumpkinseed vibes. Amazing
I got a pumpkinseed sunfish 😊
prob not gon see this due to being a year later but i caught a lm bass- bluegill hybrid
Need a bigger tank. Awesome pet though
I need to make an update video! We have upgraded :)
Pulled a fish out of a lake into a 10 gallon tank . Thats crazy.

I'm having the same issue with identifying mine, but I believe it's closest to a redear, but with more blues than usual.
Probably a Redbelly Sunfish

55 gallons is absolutely not big enough for 2 blue gill it cannot even fit 1
@@MonkeMan-k4t I ended up just putting 1 in it, fortunately getting a small one. I will have some time before it gets outgrown.
How many times a day do you feed it
Looks like a hybrid redbreast green gill
It’s a long ear sunfish not a hybrid
Long ear sun fish I catch them all the time in western Kentucky
Way way way to small put the long ear back and get a couple rainbow darters or sumthing cool that you've got room for. And if you want that plant to make it long term you should have the leaves outside of the water not submerged that's a terrestrial plant
Still waiting on an update as a fellow sunfish owner 😩
i can't believe you have that fish in that small of a tank.
It is called a Greengill hybrid I think
It is .
Nice!!! 👍👍
Nice tank! Way too small tho
The fish needs a bigger tank asap. At least 30 gallons
At least 55 Gallons they grow to 16 inches.
a blie gill at that size need at LEAST a 55 to live a some what happy life it wpuld be way more happy if you upgrade and move around more often STOP THE FISH ABUSE
It’s a bluegill brotha. I love and respect fish but I think this bluegill is way better off not being gut hooked by a 5 year old or in a bass’s mouth
@2LinesFishing can you put in Electric Blue Carpintis with blue gills ?
He does not need a 55 gallon tank, only do a 55 gallon tank if you have 2 pet blue gills, for one blue gill it needs a 35 or 40 gallon tank
What you mad for
That looks like a greengill
Is 20 gallons good enough for a bluegill?
For a small guy yes but once they get about 3-4" it time to move up. It should be 10gallons for every 1"
I just bought a 60 gallon for mine but I have 5 fish on total
My dad just calls them all brim
That tank is way to small for that fish
I have relocated him to a 55gal. Video in the works
Interesting set up. Looks good. What plants are those?
That tank is way too small for him.
damn that is a tiny ass tank for that fish. You need at LEAST 50 gallons for a big bluegill like that.
He has been moved up to a bigger tank. Thanks for the advice
i have mine in a 90 g they get big mine is the twice the size start them in a 50g
They recommend 1 gallon per inch of fish in the tank, so 1 bluegill only requires a 10 to 15 gallon...
You should catch mr fishstix a friend
I'm going to get white perch
I love your vids but this is wrong, get a bigger tank for the poor guy
Stop making fun of him
Fain fish, wey too small aquarium, doubtful decoration -with those screamingly colored pebbles
Get a pet bass
SECOND!
You stole your girlfriend?
