      Well, I hate to rain on this parade, but Hagman was a horrible person in real life. He cheated relentlessly on his wife, Maj, & had drug/drinking/orgie parties at his house all the time while his 2 small children were there. Twice his very young daughter was molested by his "friends". So, while I hope he's RIP, I kind of doubt it.

    Larry Hagman knew from the very beginning how to play this character, which was basically a background character in the original "Dallas" mini-series. He injected just the perfect amount of humour and malevolence into the role. His skill as an actor made J.R. Ewing someone you couldn't take your eyes off (similar to what Henry Winkler did with The Fonz on "Happy Days").

    • @ScottALanter
      @ScottALanter 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      His character was only supposed to be a supporting role in the Dallas reboot series, too. But, producers quickly realized it simply wasn't possible to have J.R. as a supporting role. He was front and center in the reboot. Proof of that was how long the reboot lasted after he passed which wasn't very long. Larry Hagman loved playing J.R. And, his performance was proof of that. Pure brilliance and incredibly convincing in front of the camera.

Dukes of Hazzard at 7, Dallas from 8 to 9, and Falcon Crest from 9 to 10PM. This was in the central time zone, I actually lived in Dallas when it was on the air. one of the big regrets of my life was in 2012. A month before Larry Hagman died I had the chance to see him in Dallas at one of the hotels he was or somebody's house I think he was doing the function for the new Dallas. I thought he would still be alive the next year and I couldn't afford the $400 to see him. Man I wish I had I wanted to get an autograph from him for my dad's 65th birthday but then I said no I'll get it next year he'll still be around he died November that year this happened in October that year I hate myself for that Larry if you get to read this from heaven I'm so sorry

    Cliff sells Ewing Oil to Bobby, in a roundabout way J.R. Did get Ewing Oil back. Cliff became richer and J.R. Is still rich. The big loser turned put to be Carter McKay of Weststar in the long run.

    • @briangasser973
      @briangasser973 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carter McKay got a golden parachute to leave. If JR was buying up Westar stock on the open market, Westar's stock probably got a nice bump and McKay's options were well in the money.
