I think the younger generations have put a lot of that behind - the following is a Japanese vlogger who lives in Chongqing. He's visiting a shopping center where they are holding a Japanese fair. The woman, Ms. Wong invited him, and she is a fluent bilingual having lived 6 years in Japan. th-cam.com/video/IlzLz8MGhoo/w-d-xo.html I owe this vlogger and others like him for news of the pandemic when it was being ignored in the US since I don't speak Chinese. Now, it looks like they're not suffering the setbacks we have here in dealing with the pandemic. I would love to visit China someday.

@@williams1777 I haven't left China. I'm just another ex-pat living here (I'm a U.S. Citizen). Unless you are (or become) a Chinese citizen, you cannot legally live here permanently. I have a 3-year Residence Permit that I have renewed multiple times. That is probably as close as it is going to get in being a "permanent" resident. What a lot of people do is marry a Chinese citizen and then things change.

Well done video of Chongqing. I was lucky to have family and friends there as my dear wife of twenty years is Shanghai born but grew up in Beijing. We got to Chongqing via Yichang to Chongqing cruise passing through the Three Gorges Dam and cities along the way. After Chongqing we caught the train to Chengdu & visited the Panda Research Park & San Xing Dui. China is an amazing place. You have to visit China for at least 12 months to get a basic understanding of the people, their culture and the fantastic foods but take it in two month slices. Many westerners who have limited travel experiences would suffer culture shock with China's incredible variety of life, places & cities, so it takes time!

He took a train, and called his pals "See you guys in twenty minutes". Then, he got another phonecall, from his highschool girl who was the host of that party, and talked with her for "a while".
He said, because of that sweet phonetalk, he missed his stop, accidentally ended up in ChengDu, Sichuan, and missed the party.

The Chinese government has revived China, after suffering under the “century of humiliation”, and propelled the country into an economic, technological and innovations powerhouse. The government has uplifted the standard of living of hundreds of million of the Chinese citizens.
In turn, the Chinese government is now helping other under developed countries globally to progress and have shared prosperity under the Belt and Roads Initiative (BRI).

I am Chinese and welcome you to our Chongqing. Chongqing is very close to Chengdu. You can arrange to go to Chengdu to see the giant panda breeding base and the "Wuhou Temple". There are traditional ancient buildings and countless delicacies. Chongqing hot pot is famous in China, and then you can take a cruise at the "Chaotianmen" pier to visit the "Three Gorges of the Yangtze River" and finally arrive at the Three Gorges Dam.

This city is always foggy asf (not air pollution). Once in Chongqing with my bf, we entered a residential building following a local tenant who is probably going to the vegetable market (he was wearing pyjama and got a plastic bag in his hand). We took the elevator from the 1st floor to the 19th and...wtf??? There's a bridge to another street. Too many hidden doors and bridges that can take you to a different height in this city. In Chongqing it's also hard to rely on GPS because it ignores the vertical distance :D
