Such a stunning, beautiful movie. Broke my heart. The performances by Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal are just phenomenal. Can't believe they, and the movie didn't receive any Oscar Nominations
The appreciation from people who actually care about the movie and who feel it has impacted their lives is far better received than a statue given by an institution with questionable reputation.
Unfortunately, because this is not a main stream film and heteronormative, it will get overlooked again and again. Straight people aren’t interested and unfortunately, we’ve still got a long way to go. My straight friends have never heard of this beauty of a film. Straight people just don’t understand the loneliness of being gay and ‘on the edges’ of society. I’ve felt this way all my life. I resonated so much with Harry.
@@claireglendenning1You describe it so well. I feel so much anger seeing all these bleek acting skills be awarded. All of Us Strangers has been one of the most meaningful and impactful films i've ever seen. Should've gotten more awards
@@claireglendenning1I am straight. A girl. I am from Belgrade, Serbia. I saw it a couple of weeks ago at the Belgrade Int'l Film Festival. It blew me away. I still can't stop thinking about it. While watching it, I never for one second saw it as a "gay" film, a "gay" story. This is a story of human love. Parent -child, child-parent, lover-lover, partner-partner, neighbor-neighbor. ...Love thy neighbor. We're all so "neigh", near, to each other, physically so close, and yet we fail to connect, nor to understand each other with no judgement but just with pure human love. I am angry this film didn't get several Oscars. Every single one deserves it, the screenplay author(s), the director, each of the four actors. Whenever I see one of their names in any future film I will make sure to go watch it. Greetings to you all, and love for every soul that understands this film, from rainy Belgrade.❤
I have to say this is one hell of a movie. It's more of a relationship between a child and his parents rather than anything else. There's a reason they are the same age as Adam. It also uncovers(or tried to) many aspects of sexuality and what that means. The way his mom said "They say it's a lonely kind of life" And Adam says with anger and with a certain understanding of the truth "Not really" and her mom picked up on it and immediately repeated "Not really?". Very very well done. How Adam and Harry can't even say the "gay" word since there was such a taboo around the word while they were growing up. Very relatable. It''s good to portray the side of a family where a gay child was actually brought up in a good and loving home but because of the little understanding and exposure of what Adam had, he had no option but to shelter himself alone in his room. It really was no one's fault but you can see the pain in his parent's eyes. Also how Claire Foy constantly repeated the lines "You were always on my mind" at the Christmas while staring into Adam's soul was so well done. Not only this but while Adam and his mom were lying down in the bed and Adam was talking and she didn't shy away from looking at his lips. Such a minute detail but it was so well potrayed and what it really means when you're listening to someone and it isn't always about a "sex" thing but more of a tenderness, care and nurture. She brought him up. Moms are always the first love. And I'm so glad they maintained and portrayed the sanctity of it.
I could write an essay on how the line „How come no one found me?“ just breaks me… The thought of no one noticing Harrys death bc they appreciated (t)his quietness, he hated so much…just so heartbreaking Beautiful video❤️🩹
I smiled and nearly cried good few times during the Film but never in my life wanted to be wrong so desperately than at the end of this fim. Beautiful work of art.
I loved the movie until the ending. I said, WTF is this movie about if the original point was for Adam’s parents to let go, and let the Harry relationship blossom. Very contrived ending, ruined it for me.
Great edit. Andrew and Paul played those moments with perfection. Simple caring and tender human kindness towards one another. You rarely see that kind of love portrayed between two men. In that way it is ground breaking film. I hope "All Of Us Strangers" gets a DVD release soon.
This is one of the best films ever and will be a classic in years to come. It is very believable and people should be ashamed of themselves. I loved it. Well done everyone concerned. Thank you. It deserves all the prizes going. 🎉
Just watched this movie on Hulu. Incredible! Still processing what I saw and experienced watching these actors!. One of the most poignantly emotional scripts I have watched in quite awhile. A Masterpiece seems to be an understatement, but I will go with that as a description. I dpwant and need to watch it again to digest the full impact it made on me as a 70 years old gay man.
1:15 those eyes, scared, desperate, lonely, deeply sad eyes, all in one! This movie is just heart-wrenching, so full of magic, mystery, loneliness... neven seen a film like that in my life but more importantly never a film has made me feel like All of Us Strangers! I'll sure revisit this masterpiece as long as I Iive!
What a wonderful video. I have been thinking of this movie constantly. Saw it twice, and this video bring it to life again. An amazing powerful movie, it brings out every emotion possible. Timeless.
It breaks my heart that this beautiful film will not be released on physical media by Disney. This is the second time in as many years that a film about queer men has NOT received a physical media release. The first was “Benediction” Terrance Davis last film before his death last year. “Benediction” follows the story of gay, English poet and passivist Siegfried Sasson. I fear future generations of queer folks will never be able to see this masterpiece of cinema. 😢
I heard it was going to be released on physical media tomorrow. I ordered a copy from the UK 😢and it’s supposed to be shipped to the US tomorrow. It should be playable on my Blu Ray player. Thanks for your reply.
I watched the movie yesterday, cried a lot. I believe my pain was even greater because I walked into the theater imagining what the story was and hoping to be wrong, but unfortunately I wasn't. Despite that, it made it to my list of favorite movies.
I decided to place this beautiful movies and everything in it forever in my mind and soul for it's genuinely orchestrated plot and the feelings I has after watching it ❤❤ cheers to all Harry and Adam inside us all 🥂
I love the two leads, they had great chemistry. And the scenes with his parents were so tender. But man, the last curveball was completely unnecessary - it's as if the director wanted to take away the last shred of optimism from this movie to leave the cinema goers completely broken.
Until the ending, I thought this was one of the best movies I’d ever seen, with extraordinary performances from the four actors. I easily went along with the suspension of belief about Adam and his parents. But the love between the guys, and then have the rugged pulled out from underneath, made me feel like I’d been conned.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I think I finally figured this out. I missed a lot of the dialogue because of the accent. I'll see this movie another 20 times.
What really stuck with me is his parents apologized. Yes, they had reasons for thinking how they did, but they saw the pain it left their son in and said I’m sorry. That means everything
I watched this film for the first time last night. The only thing that is helping the sheer devastation and heartbreak I feel is the theory that Adam died in a fire, which is how he could see both his parents and Adam. They’ve been in a purgatory of sorts, helping each other, which is how they both become a star, together. They’ve helped each other move on after death.
Agree 100%. I loved the film. HATED the ending. It made no sense. Adam’s parents understood the need to let go so that he could have a fulfilling life with Harry. And then……totally negated the narrative for me.
Imagine Andrew Scott character also decides to end his life so he can meet them. That would be a tragic sequel. Idk but he is so lonely. I hope his character meets a real living person.
Someone tell me if Harry actually dies in this movie. Adam opens the bedroom door and sees Harry dead. Then Harry is alive in the other room. Adam was able to see dead people, such as his parents. Was he seeing Harry dead?
@@debbieham990 - Adam is a screenwriter. He meets Harry and then writes his screenplay which you are actually also watching. He finds Harry dead and then talks to him just like he did with his deceased parents in confronting his grief.
I was mesmerized by this movie. But I truly hated the surprise premise of the Adam & Harry relationship. The point of the film, so I thought, was that Adam’s parents needed to let go, so that Adam could move forward in his relationship with Harry. The eventual surprise made me feel like I had been conned and manipulated. At the end, I didn’t understand the movie’s point at all, despite the extraordinary performances.
I’m pretty sure Andrew Scott is gay. Paul Mescal is such a brilliant actor that he can easily convince you that he’s gay. But he isn’t, not in real life.
Why show a man in his late 40s with a boy in his early 20s? That just looks predatory. Plus, without subtitles, who can understand anything they say. It's like they have mouths full of marbles.
This film will stay with me forever and this video wonderfully illustrated why ❤
Me too. Such a beautiful and sad film.

Right?? Biggest snub in 2024
The appreciation from people who actually care about the movie and who feel it has impacted their lives is far better received than a statue given by an institution with questionable reputation.
The movie is very beautiful, yet very-very twisted. Leaves 70% of reality to the viewer to make sense of. That's maybe why.
I haven't been moved by a male acting performance in a long time but Scott brought out all the emotion,Oscar should have come calling.
