I’ve just finished watching the series and it got me literally sobbing. I love Tim’s character. he is a caring, generous, kind and pure soul, and he knows Hawk had always loved him, but the fact Hawk couldn’t find the courage to fight and be by his side through the end to tell him the words was what destroyed me. The actors were perfect, absolutely meant for the show, they had a chemistry that sparkled from the very first scene up until the last.
While it’s obvious Hawk loved Tim, he never found the courage to tell him. It is heartbreaking that even though Tim knew, he never heard it from Hawk’s lips. Such a moving series.
Did you ever see Man In An Orange Shirt (2017). It focused on Michael Berryman A Banker & Thomas March a Artist. They were mates in boarding school, then soldiers in ww II, and they fell in love in the late 1940's. It won an international emmy.
Also in Man In An Orange Shirt, Flora (Michael's Wife) also burned the letters that Thomas March wrote Michael Berryman, it was the 1950's and if they were discovered he could have gone to prison. In LGBT Culture, "Letters" are always the heart and soul of couples not being together. In the short film somewhere only we knew and the Webseries Venice. Also Linus Roache who played Senator Wesley Smith is the Son of Bill Roache who is now The UK's longest running Soap Actor who next year will celebrate 65 Years as Ken Barlow on Coronation Street. He had to leave the show for a year due to alleged sexual attacks on a young girl in the 1960's but he didn't do it, he almost declared bankruptcy due to bad financial advice and investments.
That little look on Tim's face after Hawk says his little line of picturing him kneeling in prayer.. like when he realises Hawk is making a pass 🥹 the realisation mixed with shyness and delight, just perfect 🥹😭❤️
After watching this series for the I confess 5th time, that final scene where Hawk tells his daughter that Skippy was the man he loved was gut wrenching. I broke down sobbing on my knees. So very, very sad and powerful. I sincerely hope that Bomer and Bailey have a chance to work together again.

No. I watched both. But fellow travelles have depth, both characters have depth. Tim go through self battles, broke walls he made for himself for his protection but... Love hasn't protected him, neither God He was pure, loyal to only one person but every time he left with broken heart💔
I don’t know how to get Tim and Hawk out of my mind ever. I’ve been scarred with so much pain after watching this series. I will never recover from this ever. I have never cried over a tv show before Fellow Travellers, this show will be in my heart forever❤
Same! I watched it last night until this morning and couldn’t sleep afterwards because the film hit me so hard. I can’t move on! 😭 The moment Hawkins told his daughter that “Tim wasn’t his friend, he was the man he loved” broke me into pieces! Oh God! 💔 He never said that before. And it’s sooo painful to watch. 😭
This series is simply fantastic. And important. It shows what has been achieved. And what is now at stake again.... Tim and Hawk and their love are so precious to me.

Just finished watching this series and I don't think I can't get over the last scene in my lifetime. Loved the show. It's beyond any reviews or criticism. And when the last scene was on I didn't even know when I started to weep. That's what phenomenal shows do to you I guess. And this show amazed me "beyond measure"!
Just finished watching the series. Oh Man! I wish there was a way I could see these two reprise their roles in some way, shape, or form! Incredible acting throughout the entirety of the season; great cast in general! I never really cried to a show before but this one did it for me. Such a loving and detailed story. You could always tell Hawk loved Tim from the first day he met him. Sad to see that he never got the courage to say "I love you". I don't know how I'm going to move on from this one. This show has truly made a mark on my life! Great work!
They should've made this a full fledge series, by splitting the show up into 4 seasons. First season being the 50s, second season, the 60s, 3rd season the 70s and the final season being the 80s
This series is based on Thomas Mallon's 2007 novel. Ron Nyswaner did a fantastic job of expanding and enriching the original book, in which Hawk and Tim never meet after the 1950s (though the "frame" takes place in the early 90s, only Hawk appears). The Marcus, Frankie and Jerome storyline is entirely new, as is the Mary and Caroline one (in the book, Mary isn't a lesbian); Lucy becomes a real character rather than a shadowy background figure, and her father Sen. Smith and her and Hawk's son Jackson are completely new. All of these additions allow for much greater depth, complexity and sheer humanness in the journey of the two main characters. With the exception of the prologue and epilogue, the novel goes in strict chronological order (literally day-by-day); in the series, the juxaposition of different time periods is done expertly. I think Nyswaner accomplished something really phenomenal here, and eight one-hour episodes feels exactly right for the enlarged scope of the story; it doesn't need more airtime, and there's no padding or filler. Beautifully judged and executed by all involved.
I think that’s a wonderful idea, but I worry if they had done that there would’ve been a slight risk of cancellation (networks tend to cancel even the best shows). I’m glad we got to see the entirety of their story at least.
@@treesny thank you so much for the explanation! i just finished this show and it completely blew me away and made me bawl my eyes out. i was thinking of checking the novel for more of hawk and tim, had no idea they never met again after the 50's..? 😭 so does it just follow their separate lives throughout the decades? this really makes me appreciate all the changes and new things they added for the show, it was so perfect
@@yuuyuuyume The main part of the novel ends in the 1950s, and if I recall correctly, any further information about their lives is in the 1991 "frame": we get some info about Hawk's subsequent life directly, and a bit about Tim's indirectly. The trajectory of Tim's life is very different from the TV expansion. The novel is actually an excellent piece of work -- I'm about to start reading Mallon's latest, Up With The Sun -- but I have to say again that what was achieved in the TV expansion is something very special. Thank you!
The way tears rolls from the eyes to the drop from the tip of the nose of hwak and saying " he was the man that I loved" makes my heart swells and ache so much that my lips shivers itself. The masterpiece of love hurts but still wanting to commit the same crime.

Thank you, @Showtime for creating such an amazing show with such talented actors, writers, designers and artist. This will forever be one of the most beautiful love stories yet heartbreaking that I have ever watched at the high-level of “Brokeback Mountain” and “Call Me by Your Name”. No show or movie has made me go through such a roller coaster of feelings of joy, of tears, of hope, of love and sorrow. Hawks last line in the last episode broke me. I haven't seen this series as yet but watched Brokeback Mountain and Call me by Your Name multiple times. BBM is still to this day my favourite movie of all time. If this series is close, I am not sure I can recover. I cried for a week after watching BBM.
