    It's truly criminal to leave Michael Anthony and that bass and vocals out of the comments. He's a beast and such an integral part of the band's sound. Please don't forget about him. Another amazing live performance comes from the Van Hagar days, I believe it's "There's Only One Way to Rock" live from Tokyo. Also, since you are interested in studio vs live versions, I would like to direct you to Careless Memories official video by Duran Duran and the live version from the concert film, As the Lights Go Down.

    • @n3wsymtl
      @n3wsymtl ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That live version of Careless Memories is just AMAZING :) That whole show is incredible. What a band, maybe better live than in the studio.

      @@n3wsymtl Hard to say, the production level on their studio work is such high quality. I will say tho that their charisma and artistic flair is something that needs to be seen, so live performances are always amazing. That is one of my favorites for sure!

    Fair Warning showed Van Halen going back to their heavier rock roots after doing some radio friendly albums. This is where Unchained came from. "Mean Street" "Dirty Movies" and "Hear About it Later" are also bangers. Such and under rated album.

    In reference to David Lee Roth (Diamond Dave) looking like a wrestler from back in the day. He was not a wrestler, but he is a martial arts master; earning black belts in Kung Fu, Jeet Kune Do, and Karate; he also an accomplished in sword-fighting.

    Hard to believe that this Dave has morphed into what he became. He was the ultimate front man......maybe didn't remember the words to his songs......but he put on a great show.

    Back in the day Van halen rocked the stage. Saw them many times with Roth and Sammy. Loved them both. They were called the Mighty Van Halen for a reason! Roth and Sammy both were great frontmen. Alex was a very underated drummer. Mickey was a great bass player but more impresive was his back-up vocals, he was a huge reason why the vocals were so good. And we don't really have to say anything about Mr. Eddie Van Halen do we! He reinvented the guitar, he made the guitar sound like anything but a guitar. That was the genius of Eddie. There will never be another Eddie Van Halen! You will never be forgot. RIP

    Off of my favorite Van Halen album although I didn't catch them on this tour. I was able to see them the following tour. For the Diver Down album. And the amazingly successful 1984 which came afterwards. And then caught them again in 2012 on the reunion with DLR. Never caught them with Sammy. Just didn't work out that way. Not that I was avoiding it but I just wasn't cognizant as much when they were touring with Hagar. And I'm not one of these Hagar haters. Although I do prefer the version of Van Halen with the DLR more. I enjoyed the version with Sammy as well. Take care always.

    This was a great performance. David isn't always known for delivering great or even good vocals live, but this one was pretty good. Nice reaction. I saw them live with Sammy as the lead singer in high school. They were awesome. My friend and I were on the floor right by the stage. When Van Halen came on stage everyone pushed forward and we were getting squished. My friend said, "Come with me if you want to live." Just kidding, he did say follow me and we made our way to the side of the stage. When Eddie did his solo, he did part of it right in front of us.

    Being from old school this was and still is my favorite rock band.I bought their first album, yes vinyl in 1978 and it blew my mind when I heard it. Sounds you never heard from a guitar. I was lucky enough to see them 4 times live. One hell of a live band.I saw them from 79 to 83. Some of the best shows I have ever seen. David Lee Roth, hell of a front man to keep the energy going, Michael Anthony, and Alex Van Halen,(Both underrated by the way) Michael with that thumping bass and back ground vocals, and Alex keeping the beat (one of the best by the way) and what can you say about(The Master) Edward Van Halen. In my opinion the best I ever saw and I saw just about ever act back in the day.He was the Hendrix of our day. Where Jimi left off Eddie took it to another level and beyond. He made it look so effortless doing the things he did. There will never be another. RIP Eddie you left us to soon and you will live on forever and never be forgotten. This fan thanks you for some of the best times he ever had. A great party band that was high energy, and knew how to Rock. Just remember Eddie was self taught and him and Alex were classically trained because of their father. I love your channel and both of you do a great job. Keep it up. Listen to the first album all the way through. The debut album is one of the best. Rock On!

    Awesome live version. I have a huge request - few reactors pick up this one ... But if you want to contrast Dave live to Sammy live ... Watch Live Without A Net - Song: 5150 (same concert as your first reaction with Eruption / Guitar Solo). This is one of the deeper tracks on the 5150 album. If you want to learn the studio version first - no need to do a reaction (like Unchained) ... But save the reaction to the live version of 5150 (again, Live Without A Net). The energy of the entire band is incredible - and the solo he does is what pushes it over the edge. It incorporates several of the key styles he uses. You can go straight to the live version w/o familiarizing yourself with the studio version - but you will likely appreciate more with a few listens to the original first. Keep up the great reactions!

    • @rladen1
      @rladen1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A million percent true. I have been watching this video for 40 years, and thanks to youtube and other outlets where one can find bootlegs, none of the Fair Warning Tour shows sound near as good as this "live" version. Yes, it is filmed at a real concert, but the quality of the background vocals and Dave as well, plus obvious editing where Eddie is playing two different guitars lol, leads me to easily believe that it was heavily edited, and perhaps even played in a studio to match/mimic the raw REAL live version. If they sounded this good most or all of the time, their legend would be even bigger than it is today. With that being said, this is like the Holy Grail for old school VH fans like myself. The recording perfectly displays the era and energy of Van Halen in their absolute prime. The whole band is shredding, their absolute peak performing live was on this tour.

    This was years before Jump….which really had nothing to do with Dave’s Jumping…DLR is a multi-martial artist…which is why he does those jump splits, roundhouse and crescent kicks…as well as flourishes with the microphone stand.
    They were a great live band…and didn’t hold anything back…which made the crowd do the same….which made them go even harder….and so on….it was reciprocal!

    I was completely stoned for most of the 80s. A lot of booze, weed and cocaine. But I do remember this band.....Oh my did they bring it in live shows.

    Hell yeah! My fave band!
    Use to be my fave song by them growing up (Aint Talkin bout Love now), but still in my Top 5 from VH)
    EDIT: To truly enjoy a VH concert led by David Lee Roth ya had to be there. Not the best sounding Live if you don't appreciate the band. But man. In concert hardly anyone could touch them. Just so raw and unfiltered! Loved seeing them live! Rip Eddie. 😢

    Please react to the song " 5150" LIVE video from 1986. One of the BEST live performances i've ever seen! Video was recorded from the live without a net concert.
