Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to an election charge. He was not guilty of to avoid the more serious tax charges This was all set up by the prosecution to try to get Trump charged with election fraud….
I, as well as commentators vastly more knowledgeable on things legal (Glenn Kirschner comes to mind), wish people would stop referring to this as the "hush money" trial and refer to it as the "election interference" trial.
“Election interference trial” isn’t specific enough. And it’s irrelevant to the jury what some in the media call it.

The press would call it the bubblegum murders, not the bubble gum case and not the 'murder trial'. If they simply referred to it as the bubblegum trial and 90% of the public didn't know he shoved the bubblegum for the purpose of offing the victim, they would think it was all about bubble gum.
Ask people around you. Ask people on here if they know what Trump is charged with. No way in heck would you find more than 5% that understand it is about election interference and less than 1% could cite the specific charges and the legal "theories" behind it - the predicate underlying crimes in the falsification. Election laws and tax laws.

I totally agree. Intensified competition from non-traditional media has forced the mainstream media to become more sensationalist in order to attract readers/viewers, and unfortunately, ‘the hush money trial’ is more appealing to the common denominator, I.e. Joe Public.

Proud of Michael. He did great on the witness stand after 25 hrs. of grueling testimony. This jury has been attentive & surely knew the truth when they heard it.

Julie Blackman brings some great insights to this trial. Especially on the jury and the physical security that permeates the atmosphere of the courtroom. Trump needs a shock collar to keep him from testifying. He always blurts out a confession.
He thinks he did "nothing wrong". Also it was outlined at the beginning if Trump testifies (with the Sandoval hearing) that questions can be asked of him about all the civil trials he recently had where he was found liable. That would be disaster for Trump. Yelling he did nothing wrong and it's a witchhunt is not testifying.

The interviewer needs to stop waiting to talk and let Ms. Blackman just talk... Blackman kept trying to expound on different things and the interviewer was just trying to nip it all in the bud over and over. Is MSNBC really that much amateur hour?

I got the sense that this attempt at interruption was due needing to wrap up the segment for scheduling reasons or new balloon footage or just an Ad break; could have been done more subtly though I agree.
I always wonder how much prep goes into an interview. Does the guest call and say, "I can speak to points X, Y and Z," or are they called and asked if they're available at 3 o'clock? I was once on a "call for expertise" list for my university.
We've all seen, "Sorry, we're out of time!" with an implicit *Please, stop talking!* Some guests really don't know that it's best to give a 15-second answer. But the anchors can act as if they are lawyers who know the answers ahead of time, and try to herd the guests like sheep. There is no innate problem with booking a commentator for two segments wrapped around an ad break. David Jolly and Michael Steele are two who often spend the full hour.
She was a whole lot better than most interviewers. Some of them ask "questions" that eat up 3/4 of the time and then interrupt the reply. Have you ever watched "Morning Joe" ??
That's the difference between an "interviewer" and a "host" and there are a couple of hosts on MSNBC who do that, much to my chagrin as well. Sometimes it just seems like ego (Melber, Ruhle).

the interviewer should learn to keep her mouth shut when the interviewee is talking. the answer to the first question was blurred because of this and she kept doing it. i know every tenth of a second is expensive in NYC. but what is the point of the show if we can't hear the conversation?
Thank you for saying this. Julie Blackman was trying to answer to the best of her abilities and did so very well, IMO. She did the best she could but the interviewer kept interrupting her and wouldn't let her finish.
It's an interviewer's job to keep the interviewee controlled and on-topic. If they're rambling, going off-topic, or speaking slowly, the interviewer has to interrupt to keep things focused, concise, and within the time limit they have.
She did not even explain why the jury members moved all at once. could it be they all heard Michael LIE again to them? the recording was about a 14 year old guy, and had nothing to do with Trump! yet, Michael was called out on it, and he lied again and the jury shifted! Trump 2024!

Completely agree it was like watching a rude and impatient child vying for attention and it was incredibly off putting. I wanted to hear the measured and thoughtful responses of the guest and instead i found myself distracted and annoyed by the jittery and ill timed interruptions of the presenter.
I hesitate to say this but I wish the host would just let this woman speak. If you're going to ask their thoughts, let them have the time.
I thought she did a good job of this. Her job is to fit this interview into a very short time window and make sure that as many of the questions/points get discussed within that time as possible. Verbose answers to some questions could mean that there is no time to discuss other points.

I like that lady. She is attentive, observant, and careful in how she weighs her words. She also doesn’t let the interviewer over ride her. I know interviewers have a lot of things they want to ask, but in matters this important it can be more beneficial to the viewers at home to hear the interviewee’s message instead of being side tracked to a new line of thought every few seconds.
They are correct; the jury will become part of history and be talked about for generations to come.
