This entire hour of The Last Word was great. As an attorney, I think I've now watched it three times. It does such a great job of taking us inside the courtroom (where neither audio recorders nor cameras were allowed). Thank you for your wise production/writing choices to: (a) read "Count [1, 2, 3, ....34] __- What say you? GUILTY" 34 times (super effective); (b) Lawrence's well written lead up on how peoples' emotions & lives are forever affected by a criminal verdict; (c) Weissmann's eloquent comparison of the 12 ordinary Americans who took and upheld their oaths...while just outside the courtroom, there were Trump toadies completely abandoning their solemn oaths, as well as all their integrity and all truths (just to cling to power); (4) Lisa's & Adam's insights as to defense counsel Todd Blanche's "admissions" on CNN and his awkward distortions of how our adversarial system of justice works. (Great that these were fact-checked....) This is an excellent "teaching" piece--the whole thing. It's the first page of an important part of our American history...and I really hope it will be saved, widely distributed, and used in our schools. ((Is it just me, or does it seem that elementary & high schools--both public & private--did a better job in the couple decades following World War II of educating kids about CIVICS than they do today--with all the latter's emphases on STEM courses?? I'm shocked at the seeming level of public misunderstanding of how our adversarial system of justice is SUPPOSED to work--if the electorate does not understand this, they fall victim to Trump's and his toadies' lies...) Anyway--thanks to MSNBC for hiring these people...and keeping them on the air...and giving them enough air time. What MSNBC is doing is so critical to the survival of our Democracy--absolutely critical. Down through the ages, and as we speak, there are people who have fought and died, and are today fighting and dying, just to have civil rights and things like a truly INDEPENDENT JUDICIARY (not strong-man controlled court outcomes)...and adherence to the Rule of Law (not rule of a dictator) and a rights of the accused to be tried by their peers--by a CITIZEN-JURY pool, fairly selected. (Japan only recently adopted juries...and many countries do not have this. Conviction rate in many Asian & Middle East countries is over 97 percent.) We are in danger of losing these critical institutions--an independent judiciary, and adherence to the Rule of Law)! So, here we have a major political party, (including the GOP Speaker of US House of Reps) doing everything in its (and his) power to tear down, smear, and destroy trust in this sacred, hard-fought system of justice by calling this fair trial "rigged" and the whole prosecution of Mr. Trump a "witch hunt." Far, far from the truth. Most accused defendants in most countries would LOVE to have all the rights that a defendant like Mr. Trump had under the US Constitution and the Rules of Evidence adopted & applied in US states & federal courts. The GOP reaction to the first Trump trial verdict is truly beyond reprehensible. I'm with Andrew Weissmann; I find the GOP reaction terrifying. Yet I am confident of this: History will judge the complicit (and not kindly).

I will never forget how she loudly gasped and cried. I saw my brother turn around to look at us with such concern, handcuffed for one sale of cocaine. He spent 3 yrs in Dannemora prison for one eight ball of cocaine. Meanwhile The Donald is still walking our streets. He’s grifting rich. We were average middle class. I hope and pray he is locked up by Judge Merchan. Trump needs to be taught a serious lesson.
I know Brother 4 ball or eight ball doesn't compare with his crimes for years and years
WOW! Well I guess the FACTS actually STILL MATTER .
If you’re ever in court, you really want Todd Blanche representing the other side.
Did the clerk really ask that question "how say you to count n" where n =1...34?
Must have been super painful for DJT when the response "guilty" was repeated 34 times.
Justice has come knocking on Donald's door.
Trump has the short term memory of a goldfish - so, each time he heard the word it was like the first time.
Lawrence is the $hi+. Thank u Lawrence for saying all 34 counts of guilt in real time so America could feel their weight. U’r a legend sir.
Thank you.
Anyone else would be in prison already.
Powerful, going through the whole 34 counts like that. Now I can't wait to hear the one that has the word "prison" in it.
I've watched this excellent segment over and over again, through the course of the day. Thanks to the jury's decision, Mr O'Donnell could present such a brilliant piece of journalistic reporting.
I still don't understand why he gets so much leeway with no other American or any other person would have. If I had done that I would have been thrown in prison the first time, and you as a citizen of the United States would have been thrown in jail very quick.
Again an editorial for the history books and archives, thank you.
Beautifully spoken❗️
Love your show Lawrence and you telling the truth.
Your the best
I would have paid a lot of money to see the donald's face when he first heard "guilty."
It was much more important to protect the anonymity of the juror since there are many murderers among MAGATS
Wonderful report, Lawrence O'Donnell! Thank you!
Thanks, Lawrence et al!
I worship at the alter of you. This monologue is a masterstroke, as well you know, professor. ❤ thank you.
Heard it 34 times!
That's exactly what I said when I read and heard he had been found guilty I had to read it three times before I believed it My face is sore from smiling and laughing...😂

And let’s not forget the mishandling of the COVID pandemic during tRUMPf’s term, and all of those innocents who died from it….shameful!
Todd Blanche just did himself in.
My favourite part was Lawrence reading the guilty counts on all 34 charges. I loved every moment of it.
Yep, guilty x 34 would definitely change one's demeanor !!!
I love yr reporting.
When I go to sleep at night, I now find myself counting guilty verdicts as I fall into a peaceful slumber.
The story about Trump thinking he'd actually gotten off the hook is priceless. A real von Shitzenpantz moment.
GUILTY x 34 best words ever!
The number 34 has always been my favorite number, I never knew why, but now maybe I do.
Verdict - guilty of 34 counts of falseyfing business records.
Trump - "There were no crimes committed, it was a witch-hunt. The judge was against me, I play the victim because nothing I ever do is never my fault and I blame others taking no accountability for my own actions." Blah, blah, blah.
Trump has the vocabulary of a pet shop parrot.
@@richardowens9061😂
This was a DOJ Soviet Style Show Trial. There's no crime and Trump's Civil Rights were violated. This will be easily overturned!😂😂
@@ranrod8641 He also has the attention span of a goldfish and often changes subjects in mid-sentence.
