How I restored a 1965 FORD F100
This was my second attempt at a restoration/restomod. This was a lot bigger project and took about two years to complete. My goal is always to do stuff as if I were doing it for myself (which usually it is,lol). It was eventually sold. I did get some help and would like to thank a very good friend of mine, also would like to thank my brother who is always willing to lend a hand. I did not spray any of the paint. I am proud of what I accomplished and just wanted to share it.
This truck is a 1965 Ford F100 (aka slick). It has a Crown Vic front suspension, 5.0 HO engine with shorty headers, Edelbrock carburetor and intake, AOD transmission, Explorer 8.8" rear axle with 3.73 limited slip, under dash air conditioning, in frame mustang gas tank and Coys rims 18'x8" up front with 4.6" backspacing and 225/45/18 tires. 20"x10" with 4" backspacing and 275/40/20 tires in the rear . I believe I added 2" wheel spacers with the the explorer rear axle.
I would also like to mention that the idea for the tank frame and filler, was not my idea. I came across it online in one of the F100 forums. Can't recall by whom but loved it and have used it a few times. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

This is a truck very close to my heart. I had Custom cab in high school in the early 80s. ....sure wish I could find another one!!
That is one of coolest things about the older cars and trucks. So many people have great memories of them.
I drove one in highschool too from 2010-14 and I miss it so much

Excellent job. How did you deal with pitted rust such as on the tailgate?
Thank you Alejandro Cardona. Everything was taken down to bare metal. All rusted sections replaced and then sprayed with epoxy primer.
How much in all did it cost you? I am just thinking about doing my own but would like to hear your budget. And also beautiful job!! Thank you

If I remember correctly, I believe I used Coys rims 18'x8" up front with 4.6" backspacing and 225/45/18 tires. 20"x10" with 4" backspacing and 275/40/20 tires in the rear . I also believe I added 2" wheel spacers with the explorer rear axle. Hope that helps.

Thanks J K. I believe the front clip drops it about 4-6" and the axle flip gets about the same.
Nice , I'm building a 66 ford pickup what fuel tank did you use to fit between rails?
@George Spangler I used a fuel tank from a 69 Mustang. Restoring these older Fords is awesome. Good luck on your 66 build.

What color white did you do on the top of the truck and bumpers?

What did you do for rear end and suspension? Looks like it’s a Crown Vic front?
@Turbos N’ Backroads it has a 8.8 Explorer rear on original suspension in back and the Crown Vic clip up front
Looks great! How did spacing match up with front an rear did you have to get wheels with different backspacing to match fronts width?

@Dan Weiss roughly $8-10 grand. That was me doing all of it by myself( meaning no labor cost) except for spraying the paint. Are you starting a restoration project?

@Dan Weiss that question you are going to have to answer for yourself. The nicer the starting point the less that has to be done. So it depends on what you want to do. 👍🏻
The hood emblem throws me off, should swap the the V emblem instead of the 6 cyl one
