Now that my dad isn’t here anymore, it’s a very special memory I’ll never forgot. That was awesome. We get to see many great shows and movies from the Golden era now with Grit TV and ME TV. Lots of our favorite actors played on all these shows too. Thanks again for putting this together.
Another thought I just had, is when we look at these actors/actresses, you see really GOOD people. Today’s actors contribute nothing to society except virtue sending BS! I think that’s why appreciate these people so much.
In the summer of 1976 I drove the family station wagon from Florida to Tucson with a younger sister and her friend to pick up our older sister who had recently graduated from the University of AZ. We toured Old Tucson before heading north to California to visit our foster brother in San Francisco. Along the way the girls insisted we see the Grand Canyon and spend a night in Monument Valley. We didn't have the time or funds to take the Grand Canyon trail ride or helicopter tour, so our stop there lasted about as long as that scene in National Lampoon's Vacation. Next came Monument Valley, which was the most desolate place on Earth I had experienced up to that point (prior to touring the Mid East). At first I couldn't convince them that the oppressive heat, lack of vegetation, and nonexistent amenities was sufficient reason to depart immediately. After a couple of hours their attitudes changed and we were back on the road again winging west to the coast. Monument Valley looks impressive on the big screen but it is not for the faint of heart in the heat of summer. Of course, I wasn't tracking down any lost relatives, so my motivation may have been a bit lacking.
