These are gorgeous! I love that you spray alcohol to get a different look. I’m very new to alcohol inks. I’m an acrylic fluid artist, but this looks so fun!
@@abstractboss I love the journey. Trying new things just excites me! How nice of you to reply! I’ve not had artists reply back in such a personal way. I so appreciate your kindness. 🌸
I am into the inks and love making each project different. For Christmas I'll be making a couple of sets of coasters for gifts.. Youy video is fun and helpful!
This video is so helpful!! I think yours is the first video (that I've watched anyways) that adds the alcohol down before the colours! My alcohol is only 70% so I'm hoping it will work! Thank you for the tips :)
Thanks! I’ve used 70% too, just takes longer to evaporate but definitely usable for this type of project. You can do the projects both ways, alcohol first or color first but I find the alcohol first spreads better
They're beautiful! I read that you're supposed to spray with varnish prior to resin. Aldo, can these be used as hot plates, or can they not withstand the heat?
Love your stuff! Found your channel today and you answered all my unanswered questions with alcohol ink as it’s a new medium I’m trying.. your work is beautiful!! 💜💛💕
yes, lots! it is just the same as a top coat on an art piece. pour the resin in a thick enough layer and make sure to set it in a dust free zone. Also use a resin that is heat resistant so you can put coffee mugs on it
These are beautiful!! Love these your channel is giving me so many ideas lately😁 it’s my bday next week and I just had a baby so I’m going to spoil myself a bit! Pigments, alcohol ink, wood panels 😍
Thanks for the good info. Have a friend coming to visit and want to introduce her to this fun, exciting medium. Just needed a review and your tutorial is perfect!!
I know this is an old video!!😂😂 but I love those tiles ❤ I have 2 questions..1 can you do it on velum and 2 what other ways can you seal ink on paper I don’t like the idea of using resin. I really hope you see this and reply…thanking you in anticipation.👏🏼👏🏼🥰😍🇬🇧🇬🇧🐶🐶
th-cam.com/video/QDKymbSR1js/w-d-xo.html I may have found a better alternative recently. I'll be doing a video on it when I can get my hands on the product
So pretty. I'm having a marathon of your playlist. Have you done any resin making a faux stained glass? I saw a video the other day she used tulip fabric puffy paint as the lead for the stained glass and then poured resin in. She did have the puffy paint sitting on top of a thin layer of resin and then in fully encased in resin. Anyway have you done anything like that?
rita pita you are the best hahaha I love that you are supporting my channel by watching my vids! Thank you. I haven’t used puffy paint before but I’ve seen artists use a glue gun for the lines to contain different resin and then pour over top so the glue gun doesn’t lift because normally it wouldn’t stick to resin
Awesome. Why not put the wide part of the cup up? I'm going to teach a class of 12 with these inks and tiles. Do you have any advice for an easy class that isn't over too fast? Where can I get the little squeeze bottles? Thanks!
Hey AB! :D I just bought a set of Pinatas, and have been trying AI. I love it!! :D Thanks for the tips!! I've been watching tutorial vids, and I did a couple already with resin afterward, and wow!! I love this look!! :D
So Beautiful! I love it! Just a quick question. Do you ever put a cork backing on your coasters or just leave them as is? Thanks! Again..Love your Artwork! :-)
I think cutting an image out of freezer paper ironing it down, then on top add your alcohol inks letting it dry peeling your image off then resin would be cool.
Is it 2 part epoxy or Doyle get already mixed? How long do you let it cure before you start using the coasters? Thank you and God bless you. Am very sorry to bother you with questions. 🙏🕉🌺
Meera Banerjea it’s a 2 part, depends on brand but most take a full 30 days to cure. They’re hard after 24hours though. It’s no bother! Have a great day!
@@abstractboss I have one that i got off of Amazon that and has just low and high setting. I don't know if maybe I'm not holding it right to do the tiles. I noticed that you hold it more straight up and down. Is that what i should be doing?
Laura Folk I definitely hold it close and then I also move it fast, angle it only if you need to move it more and add alcohol on top to help give more movement and won’t dry out as fast as the ink straight from the bottle
What is the stuff you use in the spray bottle at the end on the tiles. I love how that looks. I also wanted to ask if you have ever done the alcohol ink on tumblers. I am wanting to try that as well.
hey fla vour, i have a couple but the most common one I use is the stonecoat countertop because I have so much in my studio but I am always trying new resins :D
Alysia’s Journey I have found that a heat gun helps to dry the ink faster which sets the color more vibrantly. A blow dryer is harder, blows it around longer but can create great lines as long as you keep the ink moving back and forth
Thanks for this nice tutorial! I did some coasters with this technique but when I put the resin (a couple of days after to be sure the ink was dry), the resin fades my colors...I also tried sealing them with Krylon glossy spray and it also changes the colors...Do you have any advice for me?
@@abstractboss oh! Ok! I didn't realize that the curing time was too long...that is definitely a problem. I Will try using another resin for coating then! Thank you very Much for your help
You can but I tape because of the resin drops. Alcohol ink will get under the tape anyways. But I put cork on the back and that covers the ugliness of the alcohol ink. It also protects the table
So how much do you charge for your costers? I have sold them for years, but never without the alcohol ink with resin. . So I have no clue the price of them. 😎 😎 😎
I have tried this....you must use an awful amount of alcohol cause when I do it with what I think as alot it doesn't work like this. I get alot of dark spots in mine from mixing the colors. I used my hairdryer instead of heating gun which worked better but the colors don't move like they do for you....HELP?
Do you prime the tiles before using the alcohol ink? What kind of alcohol do you use - just stuff from the store? I was trying to read the answers in comments below but a majority of your replies are hidden... why is that?
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful video 😊😊

The ring for a quart mason jar is good for balancing your tile because it has a wider circumference and is lower.

I’m impressed that you’re balancing them on just one of those cups! I use 3 or 4

Very beautiful!!

Beautiful, thanks for sharing. Can someone tell me, she did spray with alcohol or something else? Thank you.
Looks great what do you spray
Prema Lingaraj alcohol :)
Really nice
Hi. Gorgeous coasters. Do you have to seal them with resin?
Nice tutorial! What is in the spray bottle? Water or alcohol?
I love this! Thanks for the tutorial. I love working with resin, but you are right! Alcohol ink is a bit intimidating. Now I'm going to try it!
What kind of resin do you use and can you use it in the house? Have you tested it with the heat test to see if a coffee cup will stick to it?
Love your stuff! Found your channel today and you answered all my unanswered questions with alcohol ink as it’s a new medium I’m trying.. your work is beautiful!! 💜💛💕
I know Im kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good place to watch newly released series online ?

Did you use alcohol to blend or a blending solution? What type of alcohol?
Easy peesy. Nice. Where did you get your spray bottle and other bottle?
Karen Alexander Amazon. Dollar store has some too
Beautiful work. One question. How do you seal to make the coasters heat proof. Thank you.
Meera Banerjea I put epoxy over top of them 😁
Do you need to use a hand dryer to make these?
just found you ,,enjoyed watching ,,can this only be done on ceramic tiles
Love this technique! Thanks for the video! Can you point me to the video you mentioned re: alternative to the resin finish?
th-cam.com/video/QDKymbSR1js/w-d-xo.html I may have found a better alternative recently. I'll be doing a video on it when I can get my hands on the product
I would love to see that when you do it.
Hi beautiful work. Thanks. Is it alcohol or water in the spray bottle. 🌴aloha
Have you put the video out yet, that you talked about?? Think it was about sealing, as you mentioned matte and such.

Amazing work!! Can unglazed tiles be used? or should it be glazed ones for this effect? Thank you!
anything that is not porous would work. I think unglazed would be extremely porous. I got these tiles at lowes for like .16 each so not bad at all
Is that alcohol in the spray bottle?
Also, can Rustoleum be used to make them water resistant
Can you use these to decorate a firepit . Or it is not safe ?
Are tiles glazed
So Beautiful! I love it! Just a quick question. Do you ever put a cork backing on your coasters or just leave them as is? Thanks! Again..Love your Artwork! :-)

BTW- Can I use acrylic inks as apposed to using alcohol inks?
I think cutting an image out of freezer paper ironing it down, then on top add your alcohol inks letting it dry peeling your image off then resin would be cool.

What did you add from the spray bottle 👍please
TIA
Alcohol
What type of heat gun do you use? Does it have to be a certain wattage? First time watching your video.
Laura Folk welcome thanks for watching! I don’t use a specific voltage, just make sure it is a heat gun and not a blow dryer 😜😁

@@abstractboss hey😍 thank you very much :D i am also trying but its getting expensive slowly haha
Fla Vour hahaha ur telling me!
What was in the spray bottle ? Alcohol? Loved the video ❤️
Art Angel thanks! Yup 91% isopropyl alcohol
Do you have to use a heat dryer? Can you use a blow dryer in high?
Alysia’s Journey I have found that a heat gun helps to dry the ink faster which sets the color more vibrantly. A blow dryer is harder, blows it around longer but can create great lines as long as you keep the ink moving back and forth
Can you put vinyl on your coaster, apply the alcohol and later remove the vinyl? You do not fire your coasters?
so the same alcohol your spraying on the blank coasters is the same alcohol your spraying on at the end? is it 91 %?
yup! :D
What did you spray it with to make spots
Alcohol
