Boston was so up-beat and full of positive messages. ‘70’s were music’s best decade, all around. Pick a genre, and the ‘70’s encapsulated the very best of it. ✌️
We knew it was a masterpiece when it came out ❤. So glad you both enjoyed it that much! Yes, it showed on your face ❤. Listen to the rest of the album 🔥🚒🔥
The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves were full of amazing music brought to us by an incredible variety of artists and groups ......Boston definitely among them. We could hardly change the channel without finding a GREAT song We were spoiled.
I was 15 in 1976 when this album came out. It is one of the best rock albums of all time! The sound this band created was just incredible for that time. Every song is a gem! This was mixed and put together in Tom Sholtz's basement. He is an MIT graduate in sound engineering. A lot of the special effects you hear he created using guitars and old speakers etc. It's an iconic band and album from Boston. RIP Brad Delp. One of the greatest singers ever! And yes, they were awesome live!
I was also 15 in 1976 stood in line for this cassette, I could only drive my car with my older brother in my car, I had a set of amplified Mind Blower speakers and got pulled over several times for disturbing the peace but never got a ticket. Boston was my favorite group and still is.
@Retromolarman this record, the Boston debut record was mixed at Westlake Studios in LA by producer John Boylan, engineer Warren Dewey and Tom. Toms bachelors and masters degrees from MIT are in mechanical engineering.
There's no such thing as a "bad" song on this album. It pretty much set the standard for "#1 with a bullet" and remains one of the best selling albums of all time
One of the Greatest bands ever Boston awesome reaction guys.✌❤ I grew up with these bands as a teenager so much fun. Awesome rock 'n' roll in the 70s and early 80s. ✌🤘👋😎
When this first came out there would be at least a dozen cars in the High School parking lot cranking this. As we didn't have today's technology, we had to figure out how to make our cars the loudest, best sounding stereos out there. This is the album that you listened to while cruisin', and boozin'.
This takes me straight back to my junior year in higher school when this came out. All of these years later and it still holds up as a righteous banger! Excellent song choice today y’all!
I failed a book report I was supposed to do with a kid named Bill. I went over to his house to work on it, he had just purchased this album, the report didn’t get done. Neither of us read the book anyway.
Boston had such a novel sound when they first hit in 1976. I remember them blowing the crappy Sharp 6x9 speakers out of my 71 Camaro SS. I had to upgrade to a set of Cerwin Vega's to get the full Boston effect. Then to top it off I saw them live in January of 1977 at the Hollywood Sportatorium in South Florida with Sammy Hagar the red rocker as their opening act. Good times!
Leaving this cuz you gotta know, 'More Than A Feeling' is just about my all-time favorite song ever. As good as Boston is (was), it doesn't get much better than that. Born in '65, rock on, Kids!
A very great song, and I must say, you two are the most beautiful couple on youtube, sparkling personalities, compassionate, you are lovers of love and as a man, I must say Mel is such a beautiful woman. You are a blessed man Shawn!
Shawn & Mel this song is from their debut album. Every song on this album got played on the radio. It is one of if not the best selling debut album in history. And believe it or not they have NOT been inducted in The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame yet. The lead guitarist Tom Scholz recorded most of the album in his basement studio , playing all instruments except drums & vocals. Brad Delps vocals were recorded in L. A.. You guys should react to this entire album.
Tom didn't play all the instruments on the album except drums. He did on about two thirds of the album. On this song Fran Sheehan plays bass on the "Foreplay" section and Barry Goudreau plays on the three guitar solos in the "Longtime" part. All the recording and mixing was done with the supervision of John Boylan, who did give Tom pretty much free range to do what he wanted (and co-producing credit) but jumped in when necessary, even flying out a recording engineer in from LA to Tom's basement when he wasn't recording the acoustic guitar properly. "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" was recorded in a Los Angeles studio, as well as Brad Delp's vocals and the Drums were also re-recorded in L.A.. The final mixing was also done in a studio in L.A..
@@vickiconley3638 As of Sept 2 , 2022 they are not. Just read the article that was published on that date stating their exclusion. Foreigner hasn't been inducted either yet modern day hip hop acts are being inducted. Makes no sense.
@@ptournas Producer John Boylan hired LA engineer Paul Grupp to go to Toms studio to teach him how to record acoustic instruments properly and proper mic technique. Boylan is on record in Mix Magazine saying that Toms drum tracks on the demo sounded "amateurish" and this was the reason why Boylan sent Grupp to tutor Tom. Boylan did as you allude to have Tom re-record all acoustic instrument tracks which included acoustic guitars and drums. There is no record of Sibs drum tracks being recorded anywhere but in Toms home studio. The same would hold true for the one track that Jim Masdea played drums on as well.
Our baby boomer generation had the best music Ever! Growing up in the 60's and 70's was awesome, great music, bell bottoms, make love not war generation. Thank you for bringing back some great memories with your reaction video's. Peace out✌️
Saw Boston 7 times starting in 1976 my sophomore year at Ohio State when I was 19 years old. This debut album is the best ever for an American Band. Best wishes
Yep, used to go to my room when my mom and sis tried to get me to the sorority route. Turned it up to 10 and sang at the top of my lungs. Immature? Yes but oh so satisfying
Experiencing Boston for the first time transported us to a place we hadn't been before. A debut album like no other. Thanks for the wonderful reaction and for taking us back. I hope at some point you can react to "Peace Of Mind."
RIP BRAD DELP! This album is an absolute *masterpiece* from start to finish. It's one of the rarest kind of records; every song is a BANGER, and you can press play and listen front to back and be in *MUSICAL HEAVEN!!* LOVE to you both ❤❤
Hey, have you all noticed the Boston spaceship on the album cover is actually a guitar? Check out" Smokin " from BOSTON for some really good fast rock. You can't go wrong with this band !
No he didn't. He wrote them. He recorded them in his basement studio under the supervision of producer John Boylan, who did give him most control and co- producing credits, but did fly in a recording engineer to help with recording the acoustic guitar. All Brad's vocals were done in Los Angeles, the drums were re-recorded there, and the full song "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" was recorded there. The final mix was also done in Los Angeles.
Outstanding! Love the song... love the reaction (and appreciation of the music). I humbly request you check out Boston - Smokin. These are the songs I grew up with and I love that you are so enjoying them.
Yesss mercy yesss my all time favorite album and favorite rock band. I was 9 yrs old when this came out but jammed to it with older siblings and still jamming with it.

One of the best albums of all time!
Every song on this album is a classic and one hell of an album for their very first
I believe Tom Scholz played/recorded all of the instrumental tracks on that album in his basement.

Agree 100%!
And then the lead singer killed himself😢... Tears of a clown
Absolutely. I have a soft spot for the 80s, when I was a teen, but the 70s had it all, and it was soooooo good.
Totally agree!
I was teen in the 80s but we use to listen to all the bands from the 70s along with our hair bands.
Out of all of Boston's great songs, this is their best. This is the greatest debut album of all time. It rocks from start to finish!
Yes! Every song is a banger!
I completely agree!
It’s all the very first song!
Ooooo, More Than a Feeling, is right there.
Without question!

Sad part is, no bands are making music like this anymore...............
They are, they just don't make charts because music labels aren't pushing it anymore.
Do next from them these : "Don't look back", "Amanda", "I need your love", "Livin' for you", "Smokin", "Peace of mind" & "A man I'll never be"
Boston....."Rock and Roll Band"
Great song!!!
