Jerry left us on 1/4/11 from alcoholism and depression. A MAGICAL Singer/Songwriter. The sax was played by Raphael Ravenscroft who left us in 2014. Gerry is my FAV 70s/80s artist. He belongs in the Hall of Fame. SO many GREAT songs. Night Owl, The Royal Mile, Whatever's Written In Your Heart, Right Down The Line, Don't Speak Of My Heart, The Right Moment, Home And Dry, Get It Right Next Time, The Light Of Love(the most beautiful of his songs). He is also the writer/singer on the MONSTER hit in the mid 70s Stuck In The Middle With You by his band Stealers Wheel. He left us a legacy of GREAT and BEAUTIFUL music. Thank you, Gerry-RIP.

For some reason my country of Birth Scotland seems to be able to produce singer/song writers who can pull every bit of emotion out of you with their words. Along with Gerry Rafferty we have Lonnie Donegan, Donovan, Al Stewart, Annie Lennox, Edwin Collins, Paolo Nutini, Emily Sandé, Amy Macdonald and Gerry Cinnamon as solo stars and bands like Del Amitri, Simple Mind's, Big Country, The Proclaimers and Deacon Blue ofcourse there are loads more but for being able to take you on the journey of song with them.
In my mind all the above will make your jaws drop, it must be our crap weather that makes us deep.

It was so load it went up the street. One more interesting fact is l went to Latrobe University with my mum and my Nana Joyce to see two theatre movies this song was in the movie . Pronounced Jerry. He was from Scotland. It’s about wanting to get out of his contract with Steeler’s Wheel (former band) after they broke up and his record company making it difficult. The saxophone player was recording in the next studio and Jerry asked him to be on his song. It was a last minute decision. Jerry was going to play guitar until he heard the saxophone by Raphael Ravenscroft

Before all the pop/rock fame Gerry was in a folky duo with the great Scottish comedian Billy Connolly and you MUST check Billy out! He's just maybe the funniest person in the Universe.
