Androids of Tara was a classic Doctor Who story. The swordfight between The Doctor and Count Grendel was great.

The whole reason for the villain getting away seems to be because that's what happened in The Prisoner of Zenda. Of course, the big difference is that happened because the writer found him such a strong villain that he wanted to use him in more stories, while this guy never appears again and as far as I can tell was never meant to.

' I have to talk about the power of Kroll....*sigh*" 😅😅 I absolutely love the Key of Time series,... but yes,.... Kroll.

That’s exactly how I feel when I think about Kroll too.

Another one I need to rewatch. I saw it once, back in high school, on VHS, and what sticks in my head most is Romana's purple outfit and fabulous hat. I LOVE her outfit in this story.

Lol "Power of Kroll"...can't WAIT for your review of that one (regarded by most as the low point of the season)🙄🤣🎩

Armageddon Factor is the low point by far. I'd say Power Of Kroll is about equal to Stones Of Blood. Ribos Operation and Pirate Planet are the best.

The next 4 seasons after this one are truly the Golden Age of classic Dr Who IMO. Looking forward to the reviews of them.

Another amazing story from David Fisher. It’s a blatant rip-off of The Prisoner of Zenda, but this has great world building and humour. Personally, this (along with Full Circle and Warriors’ Gate) is the most underrated Tom Baker story.

That opening question makes a lot of sense if you're thinking about Shadow The Hedgehog...

When they found K-9 randomly floating in a boat, I decided the he killed Count Grendel.

I quite like this one. It takes a classic story with interesting twists, and Mary Tamm is brilliant here. It also has the 4th Doctor being concerned about his hat being on fire!
I'd put it 3rd or 4th out of the key stories. Much better than Kroll or Armageddon Factor, that's for sure!

A good and fun movie with great sword fighting is the Three Musketeers (1973) with York and Raquel Welch... Loved it from the 1st time I saw it on DVD. In any case, I found the Tara episodes rather subdued, from memory. I'll have to watch the Keys of time episodes in the series again. All 26 episodes! LoL... break out the cheesy popcorn and wine. Tell my K-9 (my Alexis) to crank-em out.

Watched the Key to Time series multiple times over the years and always forget about this one, it's not bad, but just doesn't leave any impression.

Man, this one is kinda forgettable. I didn't even recall its name until you started describing it. But when I did recall, I also recalled how nice and cozy it was! Very good vibes on this episode! The mediaeval-futuristic setting was weird, but it worked alright.

There were plans for afollow up to this story, but they came to nothing.

Has Big Finish ever done a Follow Up to this?

I don't know. Unfortunately most of the original cast have passed away.

@user-vg5cp2ru1f I could at least imagine a Sequel in Big Finish with Jon Culshaw doing a Peter Jeffrey impression to play Count Grendel.

This story always felt kinda meh to me too. I didn't know anything about Prisoner of Zenda, I think my dad has that book, but I watched this not knowing and feeling it was contrived. Maybe it should've been a 3 episode story and maybe give another episode on Atrios later.

Yup. 'Tara' was a filler serial. And stuffed full of filler too.
