Sad, helpless, emotionally alienated man in perpetual mourning for his dead mother and the wrongs done to her and him, vs. active, fundamentally happy, emotionally intelligent man in mourning for the recent death of his father, looking for a way to go back to being Sandrock’s resident badass Boy Scout. Usually that would be a tough call for me, but the more I see of Fang and his particular flavor of dysfunction, the more I see the appeal of cowboys.
love you, Leaf. Your your voice, your accent, and your interpretation of game. Glad to be playing again, so I again, can watch your commentaries. God bless you.
Thanks for sharing it Leaf 🥰 i though there wasn't new Fang's quests bc at this point i was used to the npcs being proactive and start their quests by themselves, i dont know how i could not think about this possibility 😆 it reminds me Mint's romance questline in "my time at Portia" (but Mint's is way less dramatic 😅)
I only thought of that because the devs specifically mentioned a new quest. Ah, well basically ANYONE is less dramatic then Fang :) It's hard to beat this guy.
I was so set on Fang, but the constant mother trauma made me think of him more as a child than a partner. And, then, you interact with Logan and, well, I can't wait.

Thank you! Yes, he is cute. I wouldn't be able to let him go either, so just recording this option to use it in the video was sad. You can comment in Portugese, no problem. Google Translate is pretty good these days 😀 Besides, English is not my first language either 😉
Hi Leaf. I wanted to offer a counter point to your argument that the 4th option (“Alright. But I’m here if you want to talk.”) makes no sense what so ever when you move to the next day and the train scene. I’ll admit, from the perspective of the builder, it doesn’t make a lot of sense until you consider the following: How did Fang find out what the Heart Knot meant? It’s not like he would ask anyone. Maybe X, but would X know? Or would it be noticed by a certain shop keeper with terrible ideas who tends to watch Fang because he wants to be his friend? Who would be willing to bet that Arvio paid Fang a visit or saw him in town, spotted the Heart Knot and exploded with exposition as to what it meant before trying to work out who it was Fang was now dating? Given he thought kidnapping Fang’s oldest and dearest friend was the best way to make friends with him, I can only imagine the trainwreck his explanation would be. I’m amazed Fang managed a letter when he returned the gift if that’s how he found out. But as Fang does care for the builder, I can see him suffering a sleepless night after rejecting the gift. So he invites the builder over to make sure they’re alright but by this point he’s so panicked that regardless how you react he’s going to think the worst. If you’re understanding rather than being angry, Fang will be looking at not only a load of guilt but a desperate wish not to be abandoned again and after another sleepless night (he would, we know this) I can see him thinking he hears the builder’s voice from the train and is convinced they’ve had enough and are leaving him. Cue train scene. Yes, you said you’d be there if he needed you but the guy hasn’t had much in the way of stable relationships and clearly isn’t thinking straight. I agree the emotional replies make more sense but I can still see Fang thinking you are on the train even when you promise to hear him out if he needs it. After all, he may have had advice on love or (worse) an offer of help from Arvio.
I admit, I didn't think of that. For someone who overanalyzes everything I didn't even try with this one, you put me to shame 😄 My view of the whole situation was a bit warped by a little nuance that used to be present in the train scene during testing, and was later removed. When Fang explains why he thought the Builder was leaving, X, who was included in the scene would say: "you'll never see me again, dr Fang", technically repeating one of the Builder's lines, giving the impression that this line alone gave Fang the reason to think the Builder is leaving for good. It made sense, I could see Fang mulling over that line in his head throughout the night, and X only making it worse by constantly repeating it in the background. I completely ignored the possibility of any outside influence (like Arvio) in this situation. But X would only say this one particular line, even if we never selected it. I thought they would fix it and make X repeat other lines as well, depending on our choices, but they removed him from the scene entirely in the end, probably because repeating the last line wouldn't make much sense, as it's not threatening at all provided you look at this the way I did. Your interpretation is a lot more versatile and takes other factors into account. Fang tends to run in circles in his own head, and it's not what we actually say that's really important. It's what he THINKS we'd do in such a situation. And it would make sense for him to expect abandonment - only because he doesn't want the Builder to leave.
I agree with u & I will not taking Arvio advice because i don’t even trust him in the very first place & I can get to know fang on my own because I can relate to him because I been through that situation before after my grandma passed away last year in 2023
What happens when you fail the quicktime event? I somehow both failed and succeeded in it, I didn't get the cutscene where my builder runs after Fang, but he still gave me that speech about how he wants to be together.
I've done his friend quests and I just unlocked hangouts with him, but every time I try to give him a heart knot, he just says take it back and I can't give it to him. I have no idea what to do. :( For reference I've done: Fragrant Memories Relapse Remember the Good Times Leaving the Nest Eagles in the Oasis I've also done X's quests, but with Cheery Conspiracy, I didn't go along with the plan and I told Fang, could that be something I did wrong??
You did all the necessary quests, and your choices during Cheery Conspiracy shouldn't matter. If you can give him normal gifts, and hang out with him, the only thing I can think of preventing you from giving him a heart knot is your friendship level. But after doing all that it should be high enough. Then again even if your friendship is maxed out, there's always a chance for any character to turn you down. So it might be you're very unlucky. Or it's a bug ☹ The only advice I have is to keep trying.
@@leafandgames Yeah I have his hearts maxed out, I'll keep trying, worse comes I'll just romance Logan in this save and then Fang in another lol. Thank you so much!

@@likmouse No problem :) You're probably at the beginning of the game. You should get a note from Fang in the mail around week 2. After that you can also meet X flying around town, and he'll give you a flyer. Then go to the clinic next Wednesday or Friday (the quest marker will appear on your map). After the first time you participate, you'll be able to get friendship points by talking to Fang (before that you can't, this guy is seriously a nightmare to befriend - but a cute one).
