Thank you so much for this video, we’ve had this refrigerator for 18 years and have never had a problem. The last few days we’ve had an issue with the fridge not cooling, having worked out the problem your video helped us to know how to dismantle our model to be able to solve the issue. You’ve saved us a lot of money with not having to replace the whole thing.
Absolutely brilliant. Having identified it was probably the fan being iced up which was causing the loudest buzzing noise ever ..... used this video to dismantle the fridge , defrost the various elements and it worked. A massive thank you :)

Managed to defrost it and the fridge started working. However now fan is making a noise like it's catching on something. You can hear it slow down when the door is opened.

Brilliant step by step video making replacement of the kit very easy to fit. However my RS21DPSM is still frosting up after approx 3-4 weeks on regular basis. Checked self diagnostics mode showing (error 07) R-DEFROST ERROR if you could offer any guidence on what to check as the service manual offers no resolution in the fault finding for this error
hi kathryn i have just got same problem as you mine is 18yrs old too, but got rathered worried when seen all the dismantling of electricals, did you do full thing or did you just remove back panel and pour hot water on to the grill bit ?, thank you

hi, i am just waiting on a new water bottle, and have defrosted the panel behind the fan back panel as this was horrendously iced up. I am interested in the fast fix connector fitting in case of any future problems, but cannot find the video you refer to. If possible could you send me a link.
Also, regarding the drain hole, mine looks pretty corroded and although i used a hairdryer on it , how do i know it is defrosted completely ? does the water come out the back somewhere ?

I have a Samsung rl44ecus that is warm in both upper and lower. Held 5 years. 25*C in both freezer and cold compartments. Digital display. Don't know if it has a diagnostic button function like in your other video? Great videos you're good to explain! People often say 'throw it away' but anything should be able to be fixed!
Before buying the kit, take off interior panels in fridge as per video. Lift out drainage tray and heater (this may be frozen). To defrost use hot water or hair dryer as instructed in video. To fully clear drainage hole remove bottom panel at back of fridge freezer. Disconnect the white drainage hose and wash out (you will find this can be stuffed full of gunge). There are two drainage hoses, one for the fridge and one for the freezer. Refit same as removal. Hopefully this should clear problem.
I've watched this video a lot and it's really helped me out in the past; however I've recently had problems with the fridge icing up and although I have replaced the defrost heater, thermal fuse and sensor it hasn't cured the problem. Anyone with any thoughts on this? Many thanks

I have got the same fridge, it’s water tank got the leak which I replaced alongside filter and fan. It then worked Ok for 3 days approx. Now the ice has started getting accumulated near the water tank, what do you think the potential problem be?
Fyi fridge temperature is 6 and freezer is set to -18, it is in UK, do you think temperature is ok?
sounds like you need the repair kit - the water bottle is freezing due to the ice build up which starts on the panel and transfers across to the bottle
Hi I kind of snapped mine taking it off. There was a loud fan and a big freezing issue but I don't know what caused what. Do I need to replace the lot or let that defrost and replace the front polystyrene unit with the fan?

I have an American refrigerator of the samsung model RS21DJPS probably this morning because of a bit of ice maybe there was a malfunction on the slit scooter that placed above the freezer on the left side. Here are the sari so friar if you were so kind to attach me some links, or if you could send me a tutorial on how to intervene in case if you were to replace some functional component that serves the production and distribution of ice. I state that in the area where I live there are probably no good technicians or SAMSUNG technical assistance valid for being able to put hands on that equipment. However I take care of technical assistance on gas boilers for which I feel I have a certain manuality to be able to try to try to repair .... Does the Samsung rs21dcsv have a normal fuse or is it a thermal fuse? And if so how do you check if it's working?

hi, I have removed all the pannels to find a load of ice build up behind. I found some tin foil behind the grill is this normal?

Hey mate I messaged you about 8 weeks ago after fitting the kit into my f/freezer. I am not 100% convinced that I installed the thermal unit right to the back of the wall for the fridge. I now have my freezer giving up and the fan blocking with ice. I have been told there is a fan design fault with this model. any advice please? Regards Tom

Please call me I can help advise what to check etc . There is no design issue that I'm aware of apart from original fault which repair kit cures..

appliancetechnical here are the symptoms... after I changed the kit and replacing the fan (which you were right.. it wasn’t faulty), I have the freezer not working after about 1 week. There is a whirring noise from the fan that stops when you open the fridge door. Freezer temp no good at all. Ice completely thaws out from the ice box. Result after about ten days, I switch all the food to the backup freezer in the garage. Sir do you have any ideas what might be causing this? U are dealing with someone who does not really understand cooling very well. If you can assist I would be happy to pay you. And if not, no big deal. Cheers for your replies so far.
Thermal fuse should be right at the back of the cooler and the rear wall ..please calm me if you need more help ..ally 07407 734 204

I have a question: On my Samsung side by side RS 21, the temperature of the refrigerator goes up and down to -4 degrees and power cool switches on and off automatically. What could be the reason?
hi it may be behind the unit , if not is should be on the water line best thing to do is to follow the water line from the fridge back to the sink etc , it will be on the water line somewhere , normaly if its not behind the fridge it will be in kitchen cupboard under sink etc , hope this helps thanks ally

Hello sir,my rs21 fridge is not cooling down.Both the evaporators are already cool but theirs fans are not working...I tested the fans resistance and found 1.5kiloohm and a zero output vdc on the motor terminal.Kindly advice sir

I am hoping someone can help... we have a RS21NCSV fridge freezer. The fridge coil completely froze over, to the point of it toucing the fan (it started making a huge amount of noise). Hubby cleared the ice, using hot water... however it hs refrozen again. The fridge and freezer temperatures are displaying the temperatures that we set it at. We are trying too figure out, if it is worth while fixing.
What could the problem most likely be as the actual fridge temperture is (acording to the display... plus the items in the fridge are staying cool) at 4 degrees... We ran the self diagnostic check and it displayed R-FAN ERROR. Could it be as simpe as just he defrost sensor needing to be replaced. I would appricate help. thank you.
Hi could you help I've this Samsung American fridge freezer
Noticed that the fridge felt warmer
So cleaned coils
Reset fridge
Turned it off
Defrosted it for 6 hours
There was alot of built up ice in bottom of fridge
The fridge reading is going up and down drastically from 4-16 degrees
Couldn't get the plastic part off and was afraid to break it would it be the ice behind it making it stick and making the fridge not work
I can't afford a new fridge freezer ATM

Samsung has changed the fan connector plug from a single unit to two plugs. They WILL NOT fit into the old socket, I had to change the plugs over which was a real footer to do.
Perhaps Samsung could do a couple of things, provide an adaptor for the old and new connectors and put in some new fixing screws, as the one I did they were all rusty.

1st is thermal fuse situated on right side of cooler unit - test with multi meter it should be closed circuit
2nd if its had a safetey visit from samsung there may be a set of 3 fuses in side the main pcb .. these can be tested again by using a multi meter
